Book Description
Challenging sweatshop labor practices is extremely difficult, but garment workers, labor unions, and non-government organizations from Central America and the United States have successfully mobilized for better wages and working conditions over the past ten years. Those gains have not been broadened or sustained over time, however. This book examines why these various outcomes occurred through a comprehensive analysis of four "cross-border labor solidarity" campaigns. It concludes with some short, medium, and long-term strategies for addressing and potentially overcoming some of the obstacles that the contemporary anti-sweatshop movement currently faces.

Great Interpersonal Development Practice.......2002-03-01
This is a great book that teaches you to be positive thinking. It is hard to stand firm and sensible when you meet an awful lot of people who are hostile, cold or sarcastic in everyday's life. As our society tends to become more electronic environment, we need some skills to prevent us from being cold and lost. This is the book which teaches you how to convert a hostile situation into a negotiable one; It tells you how to speak well politely and get what you want; If you meet an unreasonable customers, what to say in order to make him/her know that he/she is making an unreasonable request; It lead you to learn from using a single 'if' to a 'when' in order to initiate yourself to start a positive life; It shows you how to use an 'and' instead of 'but' to conduct a positive conversation. This is a great book everyone should learn since childhood!! As the author said: The best gift parents can give to the children is the ability to talk positively & act on it...(something like that).
EXCELLENT AND CURRENT GUIDE TO DIRECT COMMUNICATION!.......1998-11-11
This book was the most useful recent guide to direct communication that Ihave read over the years. Going all the way back to Manuel J. Smith'sclassic "When I Say No, I Feel Guilty." With only a quick reading of the first two chapters - on a short plane trip heading into an important negotiation, - I was able to gain tremendous clarity on what I really wanted from would normally have been a very difficult communication situation. I was able to move from "problem-based" anxiety to "solution-based" purposefulness. While still in the air, I wrote out some clarifying sentences as described in Chapter 2. Upon landing and getting to my meeting, I was then able to operate within a framework of knowing exactly what outcome I wanted from the negotiation and how to say it effectively to the other side. The proof is in the results: I achieved an outcome that was far better than I even imagined!
Since that experience, I have read the rest of the book and found it to address most of the difficult problem areas that I have had in the past with direct communication. It is apparent that the author has a very good grasp of the various contexts where communication can become problematic for the average communicator, such as intercepting an indirect attack and surviving an aggressive attack. What was particularly useful was the emphasis on how to eliminate the most common barriers to directness. The authors work goes beyond simply presenting a collection of pointers on assertive communication. Instead, the work presents a system for effective communication that the author refers to as I Mean Business Modus Operandi (IMB MO). In my short experience of using this system, I have found that it applies not only to business relationships but also to personal relationships. I find myself referring back to the book whenever I need to know how to best handle a challenging personal or business communication matter.
My only suggestion for improvement is that a registration form for the author's Say What You Mean Get What You Want Workshop be included in the back of future editions of the book by the publisher. To become highly competent with the IMB MO system, like with any other approach, a reader will need to commit to practicing it over time. Unless you are extremely self-motivated, this task can be a challenge. Attending at a workshop would allow the concepts to sink in faster. Together, the book and some coaching could produce incredible results for those desiring improvements in their direct communication style. Nevertheless, using the book along with some self-motivation can still take you a very long way!

Perfection.......2004-04-17
There is nothing this book has left out. I had gotton so many books before this one but this one literally answered all the questions i needed answered. I use it as a point of refernce daily.
It is clear Mr. Hansen is an expert amoung experts in his field. He speaks to you like you were in a room. Explains thoughrally. Leaves no stone unturned. If you are like me and starting your own business or want to be in the industry, this is surely the book.
Sometime I read it just for my reading pleasure. That is how much I love it.
Excellent.......2001-12-07
Bill Hansen speaks from the authority of years in the business, and I am amazed at how thoroughly he covers not only the interesting aspects of catering, but the seemingly mundane (which become not so mundane when not managed right). The book's passion, sheer informational content, and clear writing make it worth every penny.

Book Description
Who's to blame? That's what everyone always wants to know. But the kernal of wisdom at the heart of this latest First Time Book is who really cares? Because -- let's face it -- there's always enough blame to go around. What matters is how we work together to fix the problem.
Customer Reviews:
Great basis for a family conversation.......2007-09-12
We love the Berenstain Bears in our household. We have 2 girls who are 2 years apart and starting the "blame game" and we found this book helpful. We'll read it with the girls and then discuss it. There are times when we just read it to keep the story fresh in their minds. I found it to be helpful to me also, it's a good reminder that yelling and shouting don't solve the problem at hand and to focus on a solution together is a more productive solution.
Great book to teach kids about blame.......2005-12-29
This one should definitely be in every library! It's wonderful about teaching kids (and adults) that when things happen, there's always enough blame to go around to isolating one individual is usually not the best so, just chip in and help clean up the mess or fix the problem. Fantastic message - definitely helps with the "she did it" or "he did its" and promotes teamwork in helping to solve whatever problem occurred. Highly recommend!
The Berenstain Bears and The Blame Game.......2003-10-01
In the Book called" The Berenstain Bears and the blame Game", there is a family of four, Brother Bear, Sister Bear, Mama Bear and Papa Bear. Mama Bear is usually friendly and kind, but now her house has turned into a never-ending blame game. " Its her fault, No its his fault", is what Brother and Sister Bear say. First they break a vase with roses that Mama Bear just put there that morning. Who knows what they will break next. This book teaches kids that fighting is no use. Instead of fighting they should get to work and solve the problem.
I recommend this book for kids around 8.
This book was good. I think you should get it for your kids, because it helps them with things that happen in the world.
STOP THE GAME OF BLAME AND SHAME.......2000-05-22
Once again, the peace and serenity of Bear Country is shattered by the boisterous exchange between Brother and Sister Bear. Even the usually patient Mama Bear could not help but blow her top off. Papa Bear comes to the rescue by showing the way. He puts things right by getting Brother, Sister and even Mama Bear to chip in and help.
By reading this story to my sons, they saw themselves in similar situations and decided for themselves that the more time spent on righting wrongs and the less time spent on the blaming game could go a long way in promoting a loving, healthy and harmonious family relationship.
Without being preachy, this book is a good read and teaches family values at the same time.

Book Description
In this provocative new look at romantic relationships, psychologist Scott Wetzler explores the widespread phenomenon of misplaced anger that seems to define couple dynamics in the 1990s. He finds a wary, secretive, and combative atmosphere clouding relationships. Partners are feeling hurt and bruised by the very people with whom they are most vulnerable. In desperation and puzzlement, they are asking, "Who's at fault here? Is it you or is it me?"
What seems to be driving this "inside-out" dynamic, says Dr. Wetzler, is our increasing inability to tolerate the uncomfortable feelings that intimacy arouses--anger, anxiety, frustration, disappointment, or self-doubt. We have become utterly cynical about love and find it easier to hold our partners responsible for our psychological frailties than to own up to and work through the confusing emotions that inevitably accompany falling and being in love.
Written in a strong narrative style with illuminating case examples throughout, here is a book of relationship advice for grownups.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent, life changing.......2007-05-22
I bought this book about 5 years ago. It has been one of the most life changing books I have ever read. Like the other reviewer said, you finally see how you contribute to the issues, and it isn't always the other person in the relationship with the problem. This gives you some great tools on how to talk with another person as to not initiate their defense mechanism, and instead on how to discuss issues calmly, and in a respectful way. I will be re-reading this book soon.....it is a great tool.
What? Its me?.......2000-01-23
Its hard to accept responsibility for all my arguments. This book will change the way you fight with a loved one, argue with others in the world and you will never view any communication with another person the same as you did before. A must read. From the beginning of the book you will continuously think its not me, its them, but Dr. Wetzler keeps beating you over the head until you know you have to accept at least some of the responsibility. And once you step over that line, the light bulb comes on. Read it twice: the second time you won't be looking for what the other guy did wrong. This book will change your life. Thank you Dr. Wetzler.

"Men aren't from Mars, Women aren't from Venus".......1999-05-28
is what this book should be called. I really feel closer to women having read this, I realize now how much more alike we really are, even though we sometimes see the world differently. The author is clear, has depth, and really makes a lot of sense about bringing men and women together in a world of books that make men and women seem like strangers from different worlds.
Really opened me up to the world of men!.......1998-11-18
I didn't realize how much trouble _I_ caused in my relationships with men! Like most women, I wanted to improve my relationship, and the author is so gentle and non-shaming, yet at the same time really was able to get to the bottom of what was holding my relationship down. I didn't realize how easy it could be have my relationships with men get better--I feel a lot closer to men now. I haven't seen anything else like this book.
A must read!.......1998-10-28
Bilgere hits a nerve in the field of gender issues. Beyond The Glame is much more impactful than anything I've ready by Robert Bly, John Lee, Robert Moore, or other pop psychologist. This book opens up new worlds of understanding between men and women. After reading the book, I began relating to my girlfriend differently. That is to say, we began getting a long in a new way, with increased vitality, communication, and understanding between us. I never knew what triggered my negative emotions, or outbursts of anger in conflicts. This book has shed light on how I blame women, and others for my problems and don't take responsibility. I recommend men and women read this book as a means to create love and acceptance between the sexes.
Become a Conscientious Objector in the Battle between Sexes.......1998-04-22
While both men and women now better understand women's experiences (thanks to a clear and consistent voicing of the feminine perspective by women), that understanding has not cooled the war between the sexes. Dimitri Bilgere contends that the escalating battle indicates that understanding only one perspective simply intensifies the fighting.
He argues that the sexes will give up "the blame game" only when both women's and men's perspectives are voiced, heard, and dealt with.
In his book Bilgere shows:
how to understand and heal stereotypes that shame men and harm women;
how to stop unconsciously stimulating behaviors you hate most in the opposite sex;
how to stop blaming others--and yourself--for the problems in your life.
This book helps women understand men and men understand women. It can help-- instantly and permanently--improve your relationships with the opposite sex.

Product Description
Most baseball fans know what links Fred Merkle, Fred Snodgrass, Mickey Owen and Bill Buckner. It's a pantheon of public failure. They would be harder put to say what links Eric Byrnes, Tony Fernandez, and Babe Ruth, though these players made misplays every bit as egregious.
In this smart, highly readable history of scapegoating, John Billheimer identifies the elements that combine to condemn one player to a life sentence while another gets a wrist slap for the same offense. As it turns out, the difference between a lower-case e in some forgotten box score and a lifetime of ignominy can hinge on a number of factors, including timing, geography, reputation, misunderstanding, media bias, and just plain bad luck.

A non-fiction novel on sexual harrassment fiascoes endured by the author while teaching at a small liberal arts college in south-central Kentucky. Dr. Landrum examines the issues of sexual harrassment and how easily any individual, even YOU, can be maligned without merit. This book addresses how woefully inadequate most of today's businesses and institutions are in having in place meaningful policy on how to address accusations in a manner that is fundamentally fair and open to ALL parties.
