Book Description
Here in one volume are two classics of the foundations of modern finance from America's first celebrated economist, Irving Fisher, for whom the Fisher equation, the Fisher hypothesis, and the Fisher separation theorem are named. In 1892's Mathematical Investigations in the Theory of Value and Prices and 1896's Appreciation and Interest, Fisher explores: . how the numbers of consumers and the numbers of available commodities are more mysterious than they seem at first glance . what happens when production and consumption are examined jointly . how commodities influence one another . the relationship between appreciation and debt . formulas for varying rates of interest and appreciation . the impacts of zero and negative interest . and much more. American economist IRVING FISHER (1867-1947) was professor of political economy at Yale University. Among his many books are The Rate of Interest (1907), Why Is the Dollar Shrinking? A Study in the High Cost of Living (1914), Booms and Depressions (1932), and The Purchasing Power of Money (1912).

Customer Reviews:
The author was convicted by the Government...........2005-02-03
Don't waste your money.
The author is a sham artist. He was convicted, and in a plea bargain handed over his entire client list to the US Governtment. None of the advice in this book is legal or legitimate.
Schneider has been indicted.......2003-05-29
In Dec. 2002, a San Francisco federal grand jury indicted Schneider (along with Eric Witmeyer) for conspiracy to defraud the US government. According to the indictment (which is on the web), undercover operatives of the IRS criminal investigations unit posed as US taxpayers interested in acquiring an offshore bank or corporation from Schneider and having it decontrolled by California attorney Witmeyer. Here "decontrol" means concealing the foreign business entity from the IRS. In short, the author has been indicted for conspiracy to commit tax fraud. Of course, the accused are innocent until proven guilty, but this indictment provides notice that the content of this book is suspect. Don't do the things they recommend, you could get into a pack of trouble. Evidently, the Schneider is in a pack of trouble. Transfers of funds to foreign accounts are especially dangerous with the recent passage of the patriot act. Some of the other advice in this book is downright silly. Assuming you're not a terrorist, why would anyone carry large sums of money while traveling when you can use an ATM card? This book is not only worthless, it's dangerous.
Be carefull what you wish for........2002-11-28
An excellent text but be warned, the sage advise in this book is so effective I am now homeless and penniless.
The authors should write volume II "How to find your hidden money"
Don't waste money on this stupid book.......2001-11-20
I bought this book seeking insight in asset protection; however, I leaned nothing useful from this book.
The book is full of "interesting" episodes sourrounding author's clients, with most cases involving cheating on their spouse without leaving behind a paper trail.
The entire book is a "soap opera" written by the co-author who would be a good candidate for writing "Cosmopolitan" artilces but not a serious book about personal finance.
If you want to know how to support your lover without your wife discovering, or if you are a high profile career woman who is about to be engaged with a macho truck driver, then you may find some information in this book interesting, just so you can feel consolation in knowing that you are not the only one who is facing this problem.
If you really want to "know about keeping your money and valuables safe from predators and greedy creditors", as stated in the book's subtitle, this book will disappoint you, and let me warn you that you don't even want to come close to this book.
"How to be invisible" by J.J. Luna was far more interesting and informative.
Insightful information.......2001-09-02
Excellent book if you need to know how to protect your identity, assets and any other valuable items that are in your possession. The book mentions that "almost everyone has something to conceal", and I am a firm believer in that. Whether you've got assets or just a hard working middle class person, we all have our identities.
The author also mentions how to legally move your assets and protect yourself from creditors or others who would want to know if you have anything of value to take. Timing is of utmost importance when performing such tasks. Moving your assets when there is a pending lawsuit, is fraud. But moving and planning well before any type of litigation is started, is perfectly legal and wise.
What I like about the book the best is that, the author doesn't hold any punches back. Although he mentions certain aspects of hiding is illegal, he still mentions tactics that you must do to keep it a secret. These tactics become invaluable, if you are on the other "side of the fence" looking for hidden assets! What I didn't really care for, is the amount of attention that the author gave to hiding money "around the house" if you may.
Although I believe this is just as important as using more sophisticated techniques, I felt they devoted a little too much time talking about hiding your money in shower post or under a rock.
Other than that, the book was really a good foundation on "hiding your money".

Book Description
The E-Business Dictionary: EDI, Supply Chain, and E-Procurement Terminology is a quick reference for all business and computer professionals. It contains short, clear explanations of words that an average professional might use or encounter in a day-to-day work environment including buzzwords, jargon, slang, and foreign words. This book also includes quick-reference material for EDI transaction sets covering ANSI X12 and EDIFACT message types. Topics covered in this edition include:
- Supply chain management
- E-Procurement
- Logistics
- Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
- XML terminology
- Accounting procedures and terminology
- Commodity codes for products
- Global electronic commerce definitions
- Currency codes
- Technical terminology, buzzwords, and lingo
- Much, much more
Customer Reviews:
Not a special book for EDI.......2006-03-03
the content of this book is not the same as the name of the book.
its content is too general and it is not good as an EDI dictionary. The technical content of the book can be easyily found in other computer dictionary.
Well detailed, good resource........2004-03-25
I read the dictionary cover-to-cover to prepare for a new job. Terms were easily understood and well written. The EDI information is invaluable, I haven't been able to find many resources that are current in the subject. Highly recommend!
Solid for a dictionary and priced right.......2003-05-18
It's hard to get too excited over a dictionary, but I needed something for my summer job doing e-commerce related work in the states. I've used it twice and both times it had the word I was looking for. I suppose I'm giving it 5 stars because it was only twenty bucks whereas other dictionarys were over fifty. Tech books are overpriced, so it's nice to see something useful at this price.
Excellent basics for understanding logistics and E-Business.......2003-04-09
The book provides an excellent point of reference for anyone involved in logistics or E-Business. I must note that I got a sneak peak at the book before it went to publication.
Although, I personally do not deal with logistics on a regular basis, I often have to interview people who are in the business. The dictionary provides access to these professionals' very particular language and as E-Business spreads throughout the world, it would be a good idea to own a copy of the book.
Nevalainen also slips some humor into a few of the definitions -- check out "cracker" -- which makes the read more interesting and some words more memorable.
Concise; descriptive where it should be........2003-04-02
I think the author intentionally spent extra time on some of the keywords in e-business that are often overlooked or misrepresented (e.g. commoditizing products, disintermediation). The ANSI X12 and EDIFACT appendix is invaluable. There are also several pages dedicated solely to supply chain, e-procurement, and EDI. Recommend it highly.

Quite Thorough.......2007-02-14
Mr. Stephenson covers pretty much everything related to starting your home-based business. I don't know that there is another book on the market with even a fraction of the useful worksheets and resources he includes. I highly recommend this book for anyone contemplating a step-by-step guide to starting a business.
Excellent Book.......2006-11-03
This book covers just about everything from organizing your desk to creating and implementing your business. The only downfall I saw that it did not cover bookkeeping of your business. It talked about finding capital and payment options but no accounting.
Working from home made easy.......2005-10-05
Even though I've operated my business from home for over 3 years, I found this book very helpful and it provided lots of valuable money saving tips, as well as lots of ideas for how I can expand my business using easy promotional ideas. I especially liked the information provided on home/business security, and plan to implement many of these into my own home and business. It doesn't matter if you're new to business, or already running a home based business-this book will help you run a better and more profitable business.
Excellent Value.......2004-11-24
Buying this book would be wise for anyone starting or operating a business, but especially those that want to start a home business. It is well written and easy to understand, and covers all aspects of starting and running a home based business, from A to Z-research, planning, setting up an office, advertising, sales and marketing, customer services, and lots of business ideas for people who have yet not determined the type of business they want to run. A no hype, tell it the way it is home based business book full of lots of information to keep business startup costs low, packed with useful contact information and resources, and a very helpful guide for new entrepreneurs.

Customer Reviews:
Good book, but not much help with pricing your services.......2004-03-09
I purchased the book and found it helpful in all other areas except pricing. Pricing is key and yet the authors brush over it very vaguely. In the book, the authers state that they can be reached for any additional information needed to price your services. I went to their website and have written several letters with no reply. So, go ahead and but don't expect the authors to deliver on additional support.
very helpful.......2001-11-06
I could have not started my own mystery shopping company without this manual. My sister purchased this book for me as a gift because she thought I would be the perfect mystery shopper. I don't think she knew at the time that I would actually do it and I did!

I bought "How to start & run your own Mystery Shopping company" manual about 2 months ago directly from the self publishers. This book opened up some many opportunites for me to create a successful business that I actually will enjoy. I just got started so I can't say Ive made millions yet, but I already acquired 3 clients in 2 months and I see the interest in the market when I discuss what I am doing. This book was fabulous!!! Customer Reviews:
You Probably Already Know More Than What is in This Book.......2007-06-01
I agree with the previous review of this book. Just about everything that is in the book is common sense. I am sure there are more useful books on starting your own home-based business. Don't waste your time/money on this book.
Useless book.......2007-01-19
You can find much more useful, relevent and accurate info doing simple searches on the internet. I learned absolutely nothing new, and skipped over a lot of parts. It is trite and way too general, with advice like this for finding a lawyer: :"You need to work with a lawyer that you can feel comfortable with." p.120. It was so basic it was insulting. This was a waste of money and time.

Consider The Pro's & Con's Of A Home Business Today!.......1999-01-24
The authors have written this book to address the concerns many have about setting up a business at home. Geared better, in my opinion, towards professional people who have already experienced life in the office work force, this book will allow them to assess themselves to determine if working at home is right for them. The authors point out that serious personal commitment and preparation is required to succeed with a home business. A number of factors including family members, personal habits, one's personality, and inventory of skills must be taken into account. Ongoing education, keeping informed on the home business issues, and taking an active stance about working at home all contribute to the success of this growing work force. The authors provide a number of checklists and worksheets for their readers to fill in to help them chart the course for meeting start-up business requirements and to achieve realistic business goals. They also offer readers brief but insightful information about some of the more popular and profitable home businesses they can start. Not stopping here, they also advise their readers to anticipate changes within present occupations and encourage them to adapt to new employment opportunties that will arise on the scene. The book offers a broad spectrum of information on topics such as advertising, pricing, insurance, licensing, zoning issues, copyrights and patents, food product concerns, product liability, subcontracting, selling, and the role of computer use for the home business. Extensive listings at the back of the book provide resource information about other books, newsletters, and organizations that can be of help to new home businesses! This is a great book for members of the online community who are considering starting a business at home. It will challenge them to totally think through what is involved. With serious attention to details, personal preparation, and a good computer system just about anyone will be able to setup an online business. Consider the pro's and con's of a home business today. This book will help you do this!
