Book Description
The first complete guide to mastering the forecasting techniques essential for short-term trading success
While a majority of trading systems incorporate only existing or past pricing activity into their simulations, the most successful ones use forecasting methods to establish future activity. Now, Ed Gately, a leading computerized trading systems developer, creates a groundbreaking approach to forecasting that includes setting price and time targets to anticipate future price movements-an essential step in reducing risk, increasing reaction time, and yielding greater returns. With detailed coverage of such important targeting techniques as Fibonacci numbers, Fibonacci ratios, and cycle analysis, as well as support/resistance, moving average and Raff channels, Bollinger bands, and trendlines, Forecasting Profits Using Price & Time enables you to integrate today's most accurate computerized forecasting models into your current system. Once in place, these techniques can be combined to obtain confirmation, thereby strengthening reliability. These key concepts for maximizing profits over short periods of time include:
* Forecasting price movements of securities by using technical analysis.
* Setting risk objectives and establishing stop loss levels.
* Confirming change of trend with moving averages, candlesticks, and other methods of plotting price movement.
* Using Fibonacci, Gann's, Carolan's, and other number series to target future prices and establish timing of future changes in trend.
Detailed charts and graphs, as well as helpful models that can be used to test individual systems before engaging in actual trades, make this an indispensable resource for learning how to forecast accurately-and successfully.

A Lightweight.......1998-09-17
This book is a lightweight. There isn't much that isn't already covered by the technical analysis classics. If this was the only book I read, I would not feel comfortable playing with real money, with only the knowledge contained in this book. If you really want to learn technical analysis, you can't go wrong with the classics: John Murphy's "Technical Analysis of the Futures Market" and Martin Pring's "Technical Analysis Explained"

Book Description
Creating and sustaining competitive advantage must be the driving issue as business leaders prepare their organizations, their employees, and themselves for the challenges of the 21st Century. Deengineering the Corporation: Leading Growth from Within shows companies how to take charge of their own destinies in order to propel growth.
Growth is the single most important business and personal theme voiced by business leaders as they grapple with constantly changing business environments. Organizations and individuals must now be prepared to take charge of their own destinies in order to drive growth rather than to depend on outside experts expounding cure-all fads. The degree to which an organization executes its own "leadership strategy" will determine how well it survives and prospers.
But before any leadership strategy can be implemented, an organization must execute the following four actions:
Take back control of your organization.
Eliminate the residue of failed and unfulfilled change initiatives which restrict growth.
Focus on the basic foundations of both management and leadership.
Build a change-responsive organization through developing change-responsive people. The above actions define "deengineering" - the path towards creating and sustaining organizational growth. Deengineering The Corporation: Leading Growth from Within presents a clear, simple, and flexible guide to implementing a leadership strategy for growth. The book is replete with the success stories of strong, favorable role models with whom the reader can identify, as well as case histories that demonstrate "deengineering" principles in action. The experiences of the authors, and over twenty contributors, offer unique insider information that bring home the message of leading growth from within in a practical, easy-to-follow manner. END

Useful vignettes describing real situations and solutions.......1998-09-29
This book by Lance Berger, Martin Sikora, and Dorothy Berger reminds us that many of the solutions to issues within a business reside within its organization. The job of the CEO is to create a corporate culture and work environment where all employees feel ownership and influence in that part of the business for which they are responsible, and to encourage dialogue between senior management and the people who do the work every day.
Today, it is popular to rely on RAICers (reengineering academic industrial consultants complex) to design and implement new business strategies and a new organizational design based on the latest fad or cure-all. The authors caution that getting an outside view has its place, but is not a substitute for tapping the knowledge of your internal resources.
The authors present their road map for identifying change triggers which require reassessment of strategy. They also provide a blueprint for building a change responsive organization and developing change responsive people. Most interesting are vignettes of companies and their executives who faced an internal or external change trigger, leading to a major change initiative. I found these vignettes very useful in that they described real situations and how these executives addressed them.
Attacks business issues head on.......1998-09-29
Berger, in his typical style, attacks the issues head on. He cuts through the nonsense and identifies the fundamentals that organizations must address from within in order to get on a growth curve. His concise thinking is reflected in the roadmap for change that is laid out, and the mini case studies provide excellent examples of how real life companies have successfully applied the principles that Berger outlines in the first half of the book.
Practical how-to must read for executives and all workers.......1998-09-29
Deengineering The Corporation is a refreshing change from the usual business school texts or the popular "we know how to fix your business" manuals. It is a practical how-to; must reading for corporate executives, as well as those just entering the workplace. It offers simple, easy to understand strategies and presents compelling arguments for why growth is best managed from within. As I prepare to take a one-year sabbatical beginning January, I was especially interested in the sections on developing exit strategies at all levels of the organization. Additionally, the personal vignettes of the featured CEOs/COOs reinforced the book's premise that when companies take charge of and design their own leadership responses, success is more likely to follow.
Finally, someone says the Emperor has no clothes!.......1998-08-24
Whenever there is a management problem/challenge, my fellow consultants rush in with a "sure cure". Unfortunately, the cure is often worse than the disease. Squads of consultants take up residence and turn the company upside down, while emptying the corporate purse.
This book exposes the fallacies of many of today's management fads - reengineering, empowerment, broad-banding, de-layering, re-designing the value chain, etc. It correctly directs managers to the task at hand - managing the business.
The approach is direct and to the point: (1) identify where you want to go, (2) know what changes are taking place within and without, (3) develop contingency plans for all alternative scenarios, and (4) select and reward those who can and do make the right things happen.
Berger, however, says it more eloquently, and in greater detail. Try it, you'll like it - and so will your bottom line!

akes Alive! When two cows steal the farmer's car keys to go for a joyride, hilarity ensues! Mabel and Molly drive off with Farmer's car, speed through a stop sign, narrowly miss hitting a sheriff's car, sideswipe the mayor's flowerbed, and end up in town where the townsfolk all gather to see the ridiculous sight. Written in breezy, rhyming verse by acclaimed author Karma Wilson, and illustrated with charming, hilarious detail by the talented up-and-comer Karla Firehammer, Sakes Alive! is sure to become an instant classic.

Another Karma Wilson Winner.......2007-05-26
My nephew has several of the "Bear" books but for his 4th birthday I thought I would try something different. He loved this one! It got big laughs the first time through but I knew it was a hit when the next day after having it read to him many times he started pretending he was on a "Cattle Drive!"
Delight.......2007-01-12
Delightful experience for child and adult reader. The illustrations add to the fun.
wonderful book.......2006-08-21
Our family loves this book, about two crazy cows who steal farmer's keys and drive off to town. The illustrations are great, and we love the rhyming-it makes it so easy for my 3 year old daughter to "read" along with me when she sees the pictures. I bought extra copies to give to friends.
Sakes Alive!.......2006-05-16
My two-year old son and I love this book. I found it at the library and just had to buy my son his own copy. I even bought the book for my grandfather's 80th birthday gift. (He raises cattle in Idaho.) It's a book for everyone to enjoy. Read it and you'll soon find yourself saying "Sakes Alive" about everything silly.
Cattle & more.......2006-02-24
"Sakes Alive! A Cattle Drive" is the 3rd book I have purchased by Karma Wilson. We also have "Bear Wants More" and "A Frog in a Bog", which are both favorites of my 19 month old son. I have found all 3 of these books to be witty and fun (which makes reading them over and over a lot easier!). "Sakes Alive!" is about cows that steal the farmer's keys and drive into town (hence "A Cattle Drive"). It is amusing and the illustrations are colorful. My son and I recommend!

my life is a mess.......2006-02-27
my sister is a cow she used to hit me with a straw. so i showed her this book and it completly changed her life and now shes kind and I am now going to start petition about how people are so horrid to cows. I have no idea why I called my sister a cow as that is affensive to all the cows of the world even the mankey ones. Please sign here if you agree with me as the cows are cool and i am not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!many people think that cows are stupid but if any cows are reading this id love to say that COWS ARE SEXY! I LOVE ALL YOU COWS OUT THERE
An inspiring, informative view on cows. Really a good one.......1999-01-29
Sara Rath really gets deep and into her writing in this book. I enjoyed every bit about it. I thought i knew just about every thing there was to know about them being as though i was raised around them my whole life. I would recommend this book to anyone
A fabulous and thoroughly enjoyable book about cow culture........1998-10-26
Sara Rath's "The Complete Cow" is a gem of a book. I was amazed by the scope and in-depth coverage of cows written in friendly first person text. It 's all so readable and interesting, you just keep turning the pages for more information about these all-important and loveable beasts. The book is full of large-format color photos, side-bars, cow jokes and interesting trivia such as how to say "Moo" in eleven languages. Did you know that the age of a cow is always based on her age when she calves? Or that Texas still leads the US in beef production? Rath writes about the mythical cow in places like Egypt, Greece and Scandinavia; cow breeds of the world (Kuri, Pinzgauer and Romagnola); and the philosophy about cows. Another section I found interesting was "Holy Cow" about how the Masia tribe of Kenya andTanzania devote their lives to cattle; the importance of cattle in Irish culture; and interesting lore about the Texas Longhorn. The Complete Cow, entertaining and witty from start to finish, is a real pleasure to hold in your hands. A great gift for anyone who loves cows!
Rath writes a bovine classic!.......1998-10-24
Why are cows so trendy? Why do cow calendars sell out at Christmas before their kitten and puppy counterparts? Well, the answer was a mystery to me until Sara Rath put together her incredibly well-researched account titled, THE COMPLETE COW. This book is a gas! From the truly beautifull photography -- to the hilarious "asides" on bovine history, Rath has put together a cow compendium of unrivaled proportions. A great book for animal, trivia, and history lovers alike, this book brings together Rath's fine, storied prose and a character we can't help but love.
A book my friends and guests love to pick up, over and over........1998-10-20
As with so many other "ordinary" things in life, I had forgotten to think about cows, and I certainly had no idea that there are so many different types. Thank goodness we have authors, like Rath, who have the ability to re-ignite the childlike wonder in us. The Complete Cow's entertaining text and stunning photos make it exactly the kind of book that my children and friends love to pick up, over and over. I'm ordering copies for my sisters for Christmas.

A Classic.......2003-09-11
"One of the most intelligent, interesting, and worthwhile contributions to the field of Western history in some time. [The author] has managed to say something rather basic about American culture in general." -- William H. Goetzmann. "Excellent . . . readable and persuasive. . . . One of the most refreshing and rewarding approaches to be applied to western history topics in many years, for [the author] is asking basic questions about social process and the nature of urban society." -- Howard Roberts Lamar.

Book Description
Four miles southeast of the village of Matfield Green in Chase County, Kansas--the heart of the Flint Hills--lies the abandoned settlement of Thurman. At the turn of the century Thurman was a prosperous farming and ranching settlement with fifty-one households, a post office, two general stores, a blacksmith shop, five schools, and a church. Today, only the ruins of Thurman remain.
Joseph Hickey uses Thurman to explore the settlement form of social organization, which--along with the village, hamlet, and small town--was a dominant feature of nineteenth- and early twentieth-century American life. He traces Thurman's birth in 1874, its shallow rises and falls, and its demise in 1944. Akin to what William Least Heat-Moon did for Chase County in PrairyErth, Hicky provides a "deep map" for one post-office community and, consequently, tells us a great deal about America's rural past.
Describing the shifting relationships between Thurmanites and their Matfield Green neighbors, Hickey details how social forces set in motion by the American ideal of individualism and the machinations of capitalist entrepreneurs produced a Darwinian struggle between Thurman stock raisers and Flint Hills "cattle barons" that ultimately doomed Thurman. Central to the story are the concept of "ordinary entrepreneurship" and the profoundly capitalist attitudes of the farmers who settled Thurman and thousands of other communities dotting the American landscape.
Hickey's account of Thurman's social organization and disintegration provides a new perspective on what happened when the cattle drives from Texas and the Southwest shifted in the 1880s from the Kansas cowtowns to the Flint Hills. Moreover, he punctures numerous myths about the Flint Hills, including those that cattle dominated because the land is too rocky to farm or that Indians refused to farm because of traditional beliefs.
Like many other small rural communities, Hickey argues, Thurman during its seventy-year history was actually several different settlements. A product of changing social conditions, each one resulted from shifting memberships and boundaries that reflected the efforts of local entrepreneurs to use country schools, churches, and other forms of "social capital" to gain advantages over their competitors. In the end, Thurman succumbed to the impact of agribusiness, which had the effect of transforming social capital from an asset into a liability. Ultimately, Hickey shows, the settlement's fate echoed the decline of rural community throughout America.
Product Description
Allston-Brighton has a fascinating and unique past a history so varied, so filled with twists and turns as to constitute a microcosm of our national experience. From its founding in the seventeenth century, when it was known as Little Cambridge, to its contemporary incarnation as a vibrant Boston neighborhood, Allston-Brighton has remained a spirited community through generations of change. John Eliot established his first Praying Indian village, Nonantum, here in the late 1600s; the Winships Brighton Cattle Market prospered from 1776 through the nineteenth century, meriting several visits from both vagrants and notables, including Nathaniel Hawthorne; and the Beacon Trotting Park provided entertainment in the late 1800s. Along the Charles, through Aberdeen, at the market and on the first electric streetcars, Dr. William P. Marchione provides a journey through the stories of Allston-Brighton's past.

Book Description
Designed for advanced engineering, physical science, and applied mathematics students, this innovative textbook is an introduction to both the theory and practical application of linear algebra and functional analysis. The book is self-contained, beginning with elementary principles, basic concepts, and definitions. The important theorems of the subject are covered and effective application tools are developed, working up to a thorough treatment of eigenanalysis and the spectral resolution theorem. Building on a fundamental understanding of finite vector spaces, infinite dimensional Hilbert spaces are introduced from analogy. Wherever possible, theorems and definitions from matrix theory are called upon to drive the analogy home. The result is a clear and intuitive segue to functional analysis, culminating in a practical introduction to the functional theory of integral and differential operators. Numerous examples, problems, and illustrations highlight applications from all over engineering and the physical sciences. Also included are several numerical applications, complete with Mathematica solutions and code, giving the student a "hands-on" introduction to numerical analysis.
Linear Algebra and Linear Operators in Engineering is ideally suited as the main text of an introductory graduate course, and is a fine instrument for self-study or as a general reference for those applying mathematics.
· Contains numerous Mathematica examples complete with full code and solutions
· Provides complete numerical algorithms for solving linear and nonlinear problems
· Spans elementary notions to the functional theory of linear integral and differential equations
· Includes over 130 examples, illustrations, and exercises and over 220 problems ranging from basic concepts to challenging applications
· Presents real-life applications from chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering and the physical sciences
