The perspective of complex responsive processes draws on analogies from the complexity sciences, bringing in the essential characteristics of human agents, understood to emerge in social processes of communicative interaction and power-relating. The result is a way of thinking about life in organizations that focuses attention on how organizational members cope with unknown as they perpetually create organizational futures together.
Providing a natural successor to the Editors' earlier series (Complexity and Emergence in Organizations) this series Complexity as the Experience of Organizing, aims to take this work further by taking very seriously the experience of organizational practitioners, and showing how taking the perspective of complex responsive process yields deeper insight into practice and so develops that practice.
In this book, all of the contributors work as leaders, consultants or managers in organizations. They provide narrative accounts of their actual work addressing questions such as:
· How do widespread or global patterns, such as government or corporate policies, emerge and evolve, in the local interactions between people?
· What actually happens in global change programmes such as installing competencies, managing diversity and assuring quality?
· What does this imply about the relationship between the local and the global?
In considering such questions in terms of their daily experience, the contributors explore how the perspective of complex responsive processes assists them to make sense of their experience and so to develop their practice. Experiencing Emergence in Organizations offers a different method for making sense of an experience in a rapidly changing world by using reflective accounts of ordinary everyday life in organizations rather than idealized accounts. The editors' commentary introduces and contextualizes these experiences as well as drawing out key themes for further research.

This Book Needs to Be in Your Library!.......2003-10-08
The authors are experts in worship, theology, music, and ministry. They hold varying views, but the overall message of the book is unified: God deserves our best in worship. This fabulously readable book was encouraging, thought-provoking, motivational, and convicting. Reading it was like attending a workshop on worship ministries. I got so excited that I read the whole book in only two sittings. I have already explained my excitement about the book to our worship leader and am anxious for him to study the book with our worship team. The purpose was to help people understand the different styles of worship. A great emphasis was placed upon the differences, but also upon the overwhelming similarities of worship. The authors were gracious and pleasant throughout the book.
The authors' treatment of the book was a helpful review of the different opinions. Each chapter presented a fresh approach that explained the basic theological assumptions of a particular view, but also discussed the practical aspects. I found the practical hints very helpful. One of the contributors even included a sample of his church's practice schedule. The book was small, but helpful. It was simple to read, but profound to study.

This book explores many approaches to worship in today's churches - from postmodern to contemporary to traditional. It is a collection of articles from experts in a variety of different traditions. It is not a "this is right" and "this is wrong" but a way of teaching the reader the advantages and pitfalls of these different traditions. It was money well spent and is a book that has been lent out several times.
A Good Book for Churches Seeking to Truly Experience God!.......2000-05-27
If you are interested in biblical worship that transcends issues of style and form, then this is a helpful resource in starting in the right direction. It deals with issues faced by the church in a post-modern world in which people yearn for true worship. It gives helpful statistics regarding worship in the U.S., how to reach Generation X (and common misconceptions regarding them), and how to develop a biblical model of worship (Isaiah 6:1-11) that fits all styles. I recommend it to trained worship leaders as well as to lay leaders who play an active role in worship.

This book is one of the most important books to appear on education this decade. It presents, in a highly readable fashion, the results of a carefully conducted three-year study of the teaching of mathematics in two high schools. Through carefully conducted analyses of interviews with students, observations of lessons, and achievement test data, it provides evidence of the limitations of 'traditional' teaching methods, and a resounding endorsement of the approaches of 'reform' schools. Anyone who cares about the education of young people should read this book. (Winner of the Standing Conference on Studies in Education's prize for the best book on Education, 1998)

I used this book as a main Textbook for my course, Organizationl Behaviour, while studying for a BSc in Business Administration, at the University of Bath, Avon, UK.
I found it a very structured, well organised book, very challenging and intellectually rewarding, both for beginners and already familiar students/colleagues in the world of Organizational Behaviour.
I would suggest this book to anyone in this field, as a 'Must'. You should go on and read it!

Early Education, internationally, is the focus of much challenge and debate. Various approaches to teaching young children are being developed and advocated, but the focus is often on curriculum content with the processes of learning as a secondary issue. The most important consideration in early education is the way in which young children learn. Their transferable skills of communication, collaboration and investigation can underpin all aspects of learning. These elements form the main focus of work in a group of pre-schools in an area of Northern Italy which has earned an international reputation for innovative practice and pedagogy.
The experience of Reggio Emilia, in providing challenges to accepted approaches to early childhood education in many countries, is widely acknowledged. Since 1963, when the Italian municipality of Reggio Emilia began setting up its network of educational services for 0-6 year olds, the 'Reggio Approach' has gained worldwide recognition. Numerous visitors have been impressed by the acknowledgement given to the potential of children, the organisation and quality of the environments created, the promotion of collegiality and a climate of co-participation of families in the educational project.
This book reflects the impressions and experiences of the Reggio Emilia approach gained by a range of early childhood educators following a study visit to the region.
