Nice Guide for Beginners.......2007-06-16
The author writes a nice overview of the entrepreneurial process. It's basically for novices but it does a good job for this audience. The only problem I have with this book is that it is too basic and is therefore non-unique because it is so low-level. Regardless, I must say that for the right audience, it does a fine job over giving the big picture.
If you are advanced or aspire to become advanced, I would recommend "The Startup Company Bible for Entrepreneurs" but only for high-tech entrepreneurs. Even this author has recommended it.
A Must-Have for Entrepreneurs.......2007-05-14
Steven gives great illustrations to drive home his insightful advice for entrepreneurs. As he's "been there, done that," we can take his advice to heart in the hopes of becoming a success like him!
Exellent Book.......2007-05-11
Great book for getting ready to open a new business. Would refer to anyone thinking about opening a business.
Brief and to the point.......2007-04-27
This is a delightful little book that contains a wealth of useful and helpful information and ideas on starting a small business and ensuring that it is viable and succesful. The book is well written and easy to follow and interesting to read.
This is a must read for entrepreneurs, particularly budding ones as the information the book provides is very practical and can help you avoid making costly errors. The book covers a wide range of topics including the start-up process, marketing the business on a small budget, cash-flow forecasting, among other things.
The book is an excellent companion for the entrepreneur that is well worth having.
Invaluable advice for the budding entrepreneur.......2007-03-04
This book does a terrific job of presenting some of the most important issues entrepreneurs face when embarking on new ventures, touching on topics such as the business plan, funding, team building, and cash flows. Using simple, yet stunningly accurate models of the entrepreneurial process, Steven Gold distills complex subjects into simple, practical, take-away messages. The classification of entrepreneurial personalities (professionals, pragmatists, and inventors) is something I think we can all relate to. I find the metaphor which compares building a new company to making "stone soup" equally compelling. There are countless books out there for budding entrepreneurs, but this one is no fluff. It gets right down to the nuts and bolts so you can concentrate on your business.

Book Description
There are thousands of business start-ups in the U.S. per year, and a business plan provides for the future of such companies. It sets out a company's aims and how it proposes to achieve them. Without such a plan no venture capital house or bank will consider a loan for start-up or expansion. This fully updated new edition describes the best way to prepare a business plan that will help get the financial backing needed. It includes practical case studies and cash flow forecasts, as well as advice on expanding a business, planning the borrowing and monitoring business progress.
Customer Reviews:
The author is my father.......2007-08-02
Given the obvious conflict of interest, I would rather not have given a rating, though I think the book is very clear and useful. Others have thought so too: it has been published in many languages and on many continents, and continues to sell year after year, as the publishers keep asking my father to work on new editions.
The book is organized as a series of case studies (the names have been changed to protect the 'innocent') of people who started businesses, the problems they faced, their attempts (successful or otherwise) to cope with them, and their excitement as they realize they are actually succeeding.
The focus of the book is on how to write a business plan in such a way as to persuade a bank to lend you money. This is often one of the first problems a budding entrepreneur faces, which is fortunate because writing the plan forces him/her to think about the problems likely to face him, and to plan for success.
Book Description
The carefully written, well-thought-out business plan fell out of fashion in the dot-com craze, but in the year following the technology stock market crash it has become apparent that this basic building block of business is an entrepreneur's best friend.
Award-winning author and business planning expert Linda Pinson has updated the book that has helped over 1 million businesses get up and running. Both new and established businesses will benefit from Anatomy of a Business Plan's mix of time-tested planning strategies and an entirely new chapter on marketing techniques.
Customer Reviews:
good starting point.......2001-01-09
Great book on the basics of writing a professional business plan for any small company. For anyone who's starting a business for the first time or is sitting down to write his or her first business plan, this is among the most useful books to turn to. The chapters for the most part walk the reader through the various section of the business plan and there are examples of actual plans following the author's guide in the appendixes to the book. There are also worksheets and a useful glossary. The writing is clear and a good starting point.
Excellent Resource for Experienced and New Businesses.......2000-10-27
Veteran business owners and new entrepreneurs can derive immediate benefit from Anatomy of a Business Plan. It is THE book to get your fast-growing venture or franchise on track, and to secure significant financial rewards. Anatomy presents the strategy and elements of a Business Plan to guide both product and service-oriented companies, from major organizations to small partnerships. The financials in this book are the most comprehensive I have seen. If you're looking for the template to take to the bank for a loan, or seeking a management tool, Anatomy is the key.
Good, but rather simple........2000-06-10
Good ideas, well organized, but a bit simple. If you want to start something more complex than a simple "mom & pop feel" type business you need go elsewhere.
A very clear, very "reader friendly", step-by-step guide........2000-04-06
There are numerous books on business plans on the market, but Linda Pinson and Jerry Jinnett's Anatomy Of A Business Plan is one of the clearest: it provides a step-by-step guide to writing the plan and building the business, and appears here in its 4th edition to provide all the details in building - and changing - a business plan.
A good, helpful read.......1999-11-25
I found this book to helpful for my Internet startup business. I would highly recommend it over other so-called "high-tech" business plan books. Well done!
Book Description
Written by a premier author team, now including Angela Trethewey, Organizational Communication: Balancing Creativity and Constraint draws on contemporary research to provide a lively discussion of today's organizational issues (including such topics as identity, employee health, gender and cultural difference, and the work/life balance) while helping students to see how these theories and concepts are relevant in everyday life.
Customer Reviews:
Absolutely outstanding.......2006-03-21
I am a graphic design professional and the daily application, negotiation and consideration of 'communication' in all of its forms impacts my work, and this is mostly referring to the communication that occurs between people and societies, over and above that of 'designed communication' through the products of a graphic design project. I commenced a Masters Degree in Organisational and Professional Communication, and found that this text was far superior to everything I was presented in the degree... this book crystalises every pivotal concept, in clear, accessible, and credible language... but most of all bridges the gap between academia and actual practice. I'm so thrilled with this book. It's like a bible to everything that matters... understanding more about the nature of human beings and relationships in all aspects of modern life. I would recommend this book to literally anyone.
Making Org Comm Understandable.......2004-01-30
I am a communication graduate student, so I've read a lot of organization communication texts and readers. I've read my Weick, my Mumby, my Deetz, my Jablin, my Putnam & my Poole. While I would never suggest that anyone ever forgo reading primary sources, who can argue that sometimes we just lack the time to read everything we would like to? That is where this book comes in.
This Eisenberg & Goodall book is not just an average review of the major concepts, themes and theories in organizational communication. It covers the concepts of org comm in more detail than most texts do. The authors also are very aware of the changes and challenges to organizations in the contemporary world, and included excellent chapters on globalization, outsourcing, etc.
Finally, Eisenberg & Goodall wrote this text interactively. It is the most dialogical of all the org comm texts I've read. This stimulates not just the memorization of fact, but deep-rooted thinking and contemplation.
If you do not know where to start when you look at the expansive landscape of organizational communication, this is THE place to start. After a thorough reflective reading of Eisenberg and Goodall, you will definately have a firm foundation to read the primary sources you want.

A fine beginning!.......2006-01-24
Here's a rarity among introductory books about Jung & his thought: clear, easy to read & follow, setting forth the basic ideas in ways which are easy to grasp ... all without dumbing down the material in any way. What Robertson does is provide the beginner with the overall feel of Jungian thought, sketching out the basic outlines & providing straightforward examples. Other books go into greater detail, of course, but a beginner could do far worse than start with this fine volume. Robertson's humane & humanist heart beats strongly in every page, and he's good company for what should be an ongoing & enriching journey into the Psyche. Recommended!
(For anyone concerned about the negative reviews, while some do raise fair objections & concerns, feel free to ignore those with an obvious ax to grind. A reading of Deirdre Bair's new biography of Jung will provide an honest & far more accurate picture of Jung's life & personality.)
A lot of missing information.......2005-07-30
This book would have been helpful had it addressed issues of moment in Jungian (some now say 'Jungist') psychology. These could include thorough, not dismissive, consideration of Jung's strong leanings towards Naziism; his sexual relationships with his patients, including some who may have been in psychotic states; the real question (ask before you go into analysis!) of whether even Jungians believe in the 'collective unconscious'; the issue of large numbers of Jungians who practice psychology in North America without psychological training. Until such questions are answered or at least seriously engaged, as they once were (see titles by Stern on JUNG, THE HAUNTED PROPHET, or anything by Richard Noll), I feel that we are engaged in a sleigh ride over a snowfield of superficialities and--to be blunt--market-share building for a fringe movement capable of some good, certainly, but also of much serious damage.
A Textbook For Those Who Hate Textbooks.......2005-05-19
Although I have an uncanny talent for technical writing, I typically can not tolerate reading it. I never cracked a book in high school or college unless the exam was taken from it or unless it was written in a user-friendly style. Although I have a Master's degree in Social Work, I have not had the opportunity to study Jung individually and in depth. Robertson's book has afforded me that opportunity with its easy to read style and wealth of basic introductory information. I plan to read Robertson's other works and highly recommend this one for anyone with an interest in dream interpretation for self development and spiritual growth.
Interesting and easy-to-read ispringboard to Jung's ideas.......2003-12-31
Jungian psychology is fascinating, nuanced and voluminous, - and Jung's writings themselves are a tough read for someone unacquainted with psychology because he addresses himself to his peers who already understand the jargon. Additionally, Jung being extremely intelligent and intellectual (Robertson, I would say is very intelligent but avoids coming off as intellectual) continually interrelates his ideas to religion, literature, art, mythology, while he writes which, while interesting, makes it hard for a beginner to extract just the basic ideas.
I've read three of Robertson's books on Jung and he has a gift for communicating Jung's basic ideas in a simple and useful manner.
If you have read a bit on Jungian psychology before, this book will re-enforce your knowledge and fill in some of the blanks, - or at the very least shed light on the subject in a different way. If you're new to Jungian psychology this book is an excellent starting point. Sure, - it's limited and not extremely precise - but it's a quick read and will save you a lot of head-scratching once you start reading more in depth treatments of Jung's work.
If you're stuffy or intellectual, this book isn't for you, but if you're looking for a down-to-earth springboard to Jung, this is it!
Thoroughly enjoyed!.......2001-03-08
This book provides a great overview of Jung's theories of personality. Clear and easy to read without being simplistic.
Book Description
This beginner's guide to Jung provides the essential facts and concepts behind the life and work of the "father of analytical psychology." It examines Jung's background, the times he lived in, and the development of Jungian analysis. Key concepts and ideas are highlighted and clearly explained.

Life Enchancer, MInd Expander Book.......2002-04-25
I've read so much evangelical theology, branched out to mystical theology, then philosophy, to later, psychology. This has changed my life, as reading the great thoughts of others is the greatest virtue I have experienced. Yet with all this said, I have never read Jung. I picked up two Jung books, one an intense large volume of Jung's writings and am starting to embark in this journal. First reading Ruth Berry's "Beginner's Guide to Jung," has been so rewarding, mind expanding, deserving of 5 stars, for taking many of the deep concepts and explaining them in user friendly terms, that is, to begin one's journey into the mind of Jung. Thank you Ruth Berry

A Mind opener.......2001-11-17
If you are like me and are tired of hearing about how the majority of humans are headed straight for hell, this is the book for you. It does one thing that most theologians have failed to do, make you look at the bible in a more reasonable and livable way. not just a manual of instructuions on how to live as a so-called christian and ..woe betide if you dont do what it says!! I have always been fascinated by the book of revelation and have felt it didnt make sense in the "death and destruction" terms as most of us are made to believe by the church. After reading this book i have realised that there is more to christianity than the usual pointing fingers at others and making them out to be the so called anti-christ!! What a relief it was to read about a book based on the bible but interpreted in a Humane way minus the usual pulpit(hellfire and brimstone) attitude!
