Finally, someone isn't just "talking" about the problem, but "solving" it! Dr. Shulman shows us again (in his second book) that he is the authority on employee theft and shoplifting. Considering the huge financial losses companies experience due to employee theft, it only makes sense that this book would be the best investment they could possibly make. Also, a MUST READ for anyone who works in crime prevention, probation, security and loss prevention.

I was researching for books on employee theft from a humanistic first person perspective and this was the only book on the topic that addressed this. Without making excuses for why people steal from work, this author included many personal stories of those who did steal from work and how they got into that, what the consequences were, and how they stopped. I found it very interesting and think most people could relate to the mindsets of why people do it. I also enjoyed reading the perspectives of loss prevention and company owners. I think the author is on to something here and hope others read this book because we sure could use a different angle on why there is so much stealing in the world.

Whether you "borrow" or steal from work, or have employees. Theft from work IS happening. Whether time, resources, or property a lot of people feel entitled to do it. This book has tools and insight on both sides. Even if you don't wear the "loss prevention" hat. Employees and managers are involved and have vested interests in employee theft. So much money is lost due to "shrinkage" - invest in your company and buy the book.

An Important Book!.......2005-11-12

I recently saw the author on The Early Show and was very impressed with the balance he struck between holding people accountable for employee theft while acknowledging that all kinds of people steal from work for different reasons. As an employer who has been stolen from many times, I have often been bewildered by how some of my best employees could "bite the hand that feeds." After reading this book--which has stories from those who have stolen as well as business owners like me--I have much more insight into this problem and what to do about it. This is an important book and one of the more in-depth and progressive-minded on this topic. I recommend it for fellow business owners who have their heads in the sand about how prevalent this problem is and what you need to know to survive. I truly hope, as the author states in this book, that many people can be helped who have found themselves in the destructive pattern of employee theft. Thank you for an interesting and provocative read.

This book is a must read for anyone who is interested in understanding the "why" in how employee theft occurs. It doesn't excuse theft, but helps the reader understand the addictive process that occurs in the average person that leads to employee theft. This book would be especially helpful for the therapist working with clients who have been in the legal system due to employee theft or have theft addictions. It would also be beneficial to attorneys, judges, probation officials and loss prevention departments who sometimes have less than an "open mind" when dealing with theft. Hopefully this book can help them see the human side to the issue.

This is perhaps the first book on HRM in India, which seems to show that Indians understand HRM in the sense in which it is understood in the developed world. Most Indians equate HRM with HRD, which to me appears strange. Perhaps the best chapter in the Introductory one by one of the editors, Professor Debi S. saini. It was just a joy to read this chapter. The author clarifies the issues at stake with wonderful panache, and with a flair or remarcable inter-disciplinary sensitivity. His intertwining philosophical overtones in his analysis arouses immense interest of the reader in the term HRM and its components. The book also cautions about the dangers involved in HRM to the presence of pluralism in industry. Apart from the introductory chapter, I especially enjoyed reading Chapters 2, 4 and the last one. The book ends making a wonderful case for developing transformational leadership across the Board for HR agenda to succeed. The book is a must read for those who wish to have a scholarly treatment of HRM; and more so for Indian academics, managers and students.

At first I was reluctent to purchase a "how to" book on raising anything. But after purchasing and reading Gardening with Guineas, I was very pleased with my puchase! Ms. Ferguson writes very practical and easy to read advice on how to raise Guinea Fowl step by step as well as other helpful advice for first time guinea owners. I loved the book and recomend it to anyone who has or wants to own guineas.

All you ever need to know about raising Guineas.......2007-07-13

This book is very informative, and a pleasure to read. We just bought a farm, and there are a lot of woods - and tons of ticks - I did a google search and found that Guinea Fowl are good for getting rid of ticks - then I came to Amazon and found this book. There are great stories, great info, and I am now incubating a couple of dozen guinea eggs and looking forward to fewer bugs in my garden because I'll be gardening with Guineas!

When my husband told me he had ordered 20 guinea chicks, I had a moment of panic. After reading this book, which gives detailed instructions for different stages of raising guinea fowl, I feel securely armed with many chapters of the author's experience. Our keets are a week old now, and doing fine!

Disappointing.......2007-06-06

I purchased this book with great expectations based upon the glowing reviews of others. Though a decent source of information about raising guineas, the book often left me frustrated and confused. For example, contrary to Ms. Ferguson's experience, neither I nor anyone I've talked to has had any success moving guinea nests. Also, when discussing raising young keets, the author states, "it would be a good idea to provide an optional heat source for the keets in the henhouse on really cold days or nights until they are older." What is "really cold" and what is "older"? On numerous occasions I've searched this book for help with specific problems and gotten only vague information that left the question unanswered.

My experience has taught me, 1. Guineas can be raised exactly like chickens and 2. Don't try to move a guinea nest. Just invert a cage on top of the setting hen, give her food and water, and let her hatch and raise her brood right there.
