    Book Description

This manual is written as a guide through the most important legal procedures that control imports. It is likely to be of most use to practitioners who are not yet experts in the field, corporate counsel in both domestic and foreign companies whose products are sold across national borders, and students learning about these complicated regulatory laws. Each chapter is written by experienced counsel in Washington, D.C. -- some of whom have inside experience from working in the government agencies that administer the laws they are writing about. The authors have incorporated practical advice -- "Practice Comments" -- in their description of how these laws work. It is the intention of both the authors and editors to supplement the Manual with updated material from time to time, which will be available online.

From the supplier: The problems that beset taxpayers with regard to filing their taxes with the IRS need to be addressed by the latter. Strongly recommended are low-cost, if not free, access to electronic filing in addition to abatement of interest due stemming from IRS delays. Many taxpayers are also ignorant of the Earned Income Tax Credit which may be due them. Also suggested are separate mailing of tax returns with erroneous computations and effected refund checks.

        Book Description

As we enter the twenty-first century, every opinion, interest, and lifestyle known to man seems to have found a home somewhere on the Internet. The new technology and the new form of commerce it has generated have opened up much debate about how to deal with traditional business issues: in particular, privacy, taxation, and contracts. In October 1999 a group of prominent executives, Hoover fellows, and academics met to discuss Internet public policy, focusing initially on privacy and taxation but then expanding the debate to include issues of contract and jurisdiction as well. Public Policy and the Internet presents the initial findings that framed those discussions and outlines proposals that should guide policymaking in the future. In "Privacy and Electronic Commerce," Mary J. Cronin surveys opinion and position papers on how to deal with online privacy, the meaning of privacy in electronic commerce, and the arguments between advocates of self-regulation and legislation. Charles E. McLure Jr. looks at fundamental questions of tax policy and the Internet in his contribution, "The Taxation of Electronic Commerce: Background and Proposal," and outlines his proposal for a single, uniform nationwide base for sales and use taxes. Margaret Jane Radin's "Retooling Contract for the Digital Era" evaluates the crisis for contract brought on by the advent of electronic commerce. Taken together, the viewpoints presented in Public Policy and the Internet reinforce the judgment that the future of e-commerce will have as much to do with how policy issues are resolved as with how any technological challenge is overcome.

A couple working six months per year for 50 hours per week on 20 acres can net $25,000-$30,000 per year with an investment equivalent to the price of one new medium-sized tractor. Seldom has agriculture held out such a plum. In a day when main-line farm experts predict the continued demise of the family farm, the pastured poultry opportunity shines like a beacon in the night, guiding the way to a brighter future.

Very detailed book for agricultural entrepreneurs. Gives specifics for everything from your first purchase of chicks and their housing to slaughter and marketing.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding book for new to poultry folks as well as "old hats".......2007-08-24

This book is essential for anyone considering poultry production as a business. Following this book will save time, stress, money and more. Nothing is smooth or perfect, but when using the experience the Salatin's have under their belt will greatly reduce the number of disasters. They took most of the oops's out of the equation.

This book covers in detail everything from why you should go this route, to what the "big hats" do and why that isnt the route to go. He explains in so much detail that I feel after reading this book you can safely gauge whether this business would work for you.

This book contains everything you need to begin today. It discusses the equipment, the government certification requirements, or more accurately what sort of operation doesn't have to deal with those restrictions. He discusses the chicken tractors, how to make them, how to not make them. Discusses seasonal processing, the actual nitty gritty about the processing and more, oh so much more.

I learned a great deal from this book, I was so impressed that I have his Salad Bar Beef on order. I believe this book represents a turn key business. A person purchases the rights to open a fast food chain, you spend 1 mil to have the right to use a clown to advertise your hamburger's and get to tap the experience of everyone that has opened that type of company... this book is no different. The purchase price of the book is a great value when you consider this is experience talking, this shows all of the details, this shows everything including the day to day life and how to find customers.

Sounds to me like the 1 million dollar turn key franchise. Except this is anything but a franchise, he points out family business and not empires are the way to go... and I have to agree with him. He shares this information because he would like to see a lot more operations like the one him and his family (and sometimes even customers) run. He notes that 100 operations in Virginia using the model he shares with us, would be about enough to support the state... yet he is the only one there (at the time of writing this book).

He would like to see these everywhere... people eating healthier, animals that are healthier, people being connected to where their food comes from. I can not say enough good about this book, personally I would like to go work for the author and his family for a couple weeks to learn hands on. I think this is a wealth of information and I await eagerly my Salad Bar Beef book hoping it opens my eyes to a better way to raise my beefalo.

                      4 out of 5 stars Beginner's Bible.......2007-05-07

All in all, a completely comprehensive view of pasturing poultry from the man who in essence started it all, Joel Salatin. The only problem I have with it is that he needs to go through and update it, as it was written in the '90s and the birds have evolved, giving us a new set of nutritional challenges. WELL WORTH THE MONEY for the beginner interested in getting into the business!!!!!!!!!!

                      5 out of 5 stars Wonderful resource.......2007-05-07

This book is full of information on how to raise pastured poultry. I can hardly wait to try it on the 150 chicks we just ordered!!

Joel Salatin has once agian proven that there is demand for high quality natural foods. And that the possibiltys are infinite, as limitless as your imagination. This book shows how to market, what kind of feed he uses, how not to live on the land but to live with the land. The more I read these books of his, the more bright the future seems. I'm 18 and my broilers and bees can't keep up with demand. There has never been a better opportunity. YOU CAN FARM! I am.

This product is very low quality. The files on the disk are poorly organized and the pdf's do not print well (edges cut off, etc.). But fundamentally this CD is a waste of money - you can get the contents on-line for free at NASA, SETI, etc., websites. And more importantly, you will get far more up-to-date information. If you want the latest fascinating information on astrobiology, this is not the place to get it. You are much better off browsing various NASA, astronomy and science magazine websites, and especially the free and very current "Astrobiology Magazine" site.

                            Book Description

This comprehensive CD-ROM provides the complete story of NASA's program to find planets like Earth, using the planned James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the scientific and technological successor to the Hubble Space Telescope, and other new assets. With a 6-meter class segmented active optic primary deployable mirror, and three major instruments (Near-Infrared Multi-Object Spectrometer, Near-Infrared Camera, Mid-Infrared Camera/Spectrometer), the JWST will be placed in orbit at Lagrange Point 2 (1.5-million km or 940,000 miles from Earth). JWST will allow us to see even farther into space than is currently possible with Hubble. These nascent stars and galaxies are so distant that by the time their light reaches us, it has stretched into the longer, redder wavelength bands and is invisible to the human eye. JWST is the centerpiece of the NASA Origins Program:

The Origins program takes up the challenge of answering questions as old as our species. Where did we come from? Are we alone? When the answers to these questions are known, our civilizations will evolve new visions of who we are and what our futures might be. Already we have learned enough to appreciate that the universe is enormous and ancient, but life tiny and transient is its precious jewel. In the first few decades of this new century astronomers will largely complete the study of cosmology: the description of the universe on the largest scales and how it works. With the Space Infrared Telescope Facility (SIRTF) and the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) we will also begin to write the final chapter of the story of galaxies, witnessing the actual birth of these continents of stars. In particular we will chart the13-billion-year history of the Milky Way Galaxy we inhabit, understanding how the materials for new stars, planets, and life were generated and distributed. SIRTF and JWST will also lead the way in studying the birth of stars with their families of planets, moons, comets, and asteroids. Led by the Terrestrial Planet Finder, we will peer one-by-one at our hundreds of nearest neighbor stars and inventory their planets, searching for solar systems resembling our own with a balmy, wet planet like Earth. JWST, Planet Finder, Keck Interferometer, and the Origins Program are comprehensive covered, with dozens of program documents, photographs, charts, and tables. Please note that this material is also published under another title as ISBN 1592484859.

In all, this CD-ROM has over 17,000 pages reproduced using Adobe Acrobat PDF software - allowing direct viewing on Windows and Apple Macintosh systems. Reader software is included on the CD. There is no other reference that is as fast, convenient, comprehensive, and portable.

Our CD-ROMs are privately-compiled collections of official public domain U.S. government files and documents - they are not produced by the federal government. They are designed to provide a convenient user-friendly reference work, utilizing the benefits of the Acrobat format to uniformly present thousands of pages that can be rapidly reviewed or printed without untold hours of tedious searching and downloading. Vast archives of important public domain government information that might otherwise remain inaccessible are available for instant review no matter where you are. This book-on-a-disc makes a great reference work and educational tool.

                            Book Description

Extrasolar planets are planetary-sized celestial bodies that orbit stars similar to the Sun. In light of NASA's stated goal to detect Earth-like extrasolar planets and recent discoveries, this text is timely and topical. Focuses on the techniques and results of observational searches to date.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent start to extrasolar planetary astronomy.........2000-06-05

This book is very well organized, concise and specially maintains a coherent strucutre and evolution of the concepts which keeps the subject clear all throughout. It is perfect for the beguinner in astronomy who has some physics background. It stays at all time at an undergraduate level starting with a introduction in the physical concepts essential to grasp the theme and goal of the book, and then gradually zooms into our solar system's formation and evolution to be able to extrapolate these concepts and apply them to the discovery and recognition of other external solar systems. The style in which it is written would very well be suited for a text book in an introductory course.

4 out of 5 stars Undergraduate student of the Author.......1999-10-12

As a student of Stuart's I know I like his methods of teaching, and it was this book that made me choose to attend the university he lectures at. It starts from the ground up, ideal for those who don't know the subject. It doesn't give enough detail for anyone to go out and build there own high-resolution spetrograph, and begin surveys themselves, but almost gets there. For £20, it won't be your worst investment today!
