I read this for my daughters (2 and 5) and found it helpful in deciding which rides to prioritize and which ones to avoid. It gives a kids perspective of what's dark, scary, rough or wild. It's also fun to look at the pictures with the kids although it would be nicer with more photos from Disney and fewer cartoons.

I loved this book and think it is great for children! I heard that it had lots of the same info as the other books, but I really liked the fact that I did not have to worry about the children messing up my book or losing it. They had their own book which spared us the frustration of trying to all share one! The pictures and text are very exciting and it has made my children even more anxious to get there! We all wish it was tomorrow!!

Despite editorial reviews rating Ms. Blackman's account of her actions and experiences in Sarejevo to be "unfocused" and Ms. Blackman "her own personal heroine", I found her writing to be clear and concise regarding the "peacekeeping" mission and it's reception from those it was "protecting". Her personal story of the chaos and destruction of the country and it's people was informative and gripping at the same time, bringing home the reality of one woman's determination to do more than watch the horror and politics of war from her television set. Although I read her book in it's pre-edited format, her talent for telling the real story of the victims of war is obvious, and her selfless acts of giving and loving make this a book worth reading for those interested in not only the historical and religious reasons behind the conflict, but for anyone wanting to understand the psychological impact of patriotism and forced allegience on a young and idealistic generation.

Succint and important summary........2002-05-21

Some people believed the Cold War started in 1917 while others thought it began in 1945 after the Yalta Conference between Roosevelt, Churchill, and Stalin. It went through the Korean War (1950-53), the Cuban missile crisis in 1962, the Vietnam war followed by a detente during which the Soviet Union and the USA negotiated arms-control. It turned cold again when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in 1979 and finally ended in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin wall and the eventual collapse of the Soviet Union.

The causes of the collapse are multiple and include: the arms race, the meltdown of the Soviet economy, the rise of ethnic nationalism in the Soviet Union, and governmental reforms (perestoika and glasnost). But in the end, it was the "insane" arms-race, which led to fiscal insolvency and collapse of the Soviet Union.

Radio surveys play an important role in observational cosmology. However, until recently the surveys have been either of wide area but with low sensitivity or of small area with high sensitivity. Both limit the kinds of cosmology that can be carried out with radio surveys.
This situation has been revolutionised in the past few years by the availability of new, large-area, high-sensitivity radio surveys at both low and high radio frequencies. These significant improvements allow studies based on both the statistics of the surveys themselves and multiwavelength follow-up of the galaxies and AGN responsible for the radio emission. It is therefore an opportune time to summarise progress in this field with a workshop.
This book comprises the proceedings of the `Observational Cosmology with the New Radio Surveys' workshop, held on Tenerife, January 13-15, 1997. Topics covered include: lessons learned and important results from earlier surveys, descriptions of some of the new surveys, clusters of galaxies and large-scale structure, radio source evolution, CMB studies, gravitational lensing and multiwavelength studies of distant radio sources.
