Who moved my Attitude? Chapman!! As an avid reader of books geared towards helping me cope with my personal and professional development, I know a GREAT book when I find it. Getting ahead in your career, goal-setting, working with difficult people, and teams & diversity, are just a few of subjects covered in this book. Before reading this book I wasn't really familar with the many aspects of "human relations". Now I know that "human relations" encompasses every aspect of my life and how to balance all the things that I need to. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to have a more pleasant and productive career/work environment, seeking to move up the corporate ladder, and for those who wish to learn the skills needed to balance work and home.

Authors' attitudes are showing..........2006-07-12

The slant of this book is hard to ignore.

It emphasizes the importance of "go along to get along" over almost all else.

In the battle between individuals and big companies for who controls individual will, who owns the knowledge in an individual's head, and how much of an individual's life belongs to the organization, "Your Attitude is Showing" is a white flag for anyone with an independant mind.

The authors' arguments for why a person should (must) set aside self and individuality for the good of the company and wishes of the management are flawed. It assumes that there will be good things to come for the person who improves attitudes, and fails to consider the grander issues, like whether it's desireable for a society as a whole to create a sea of automatons with great attitudes.

To this book, my answer would be: success comes not through smiles and gladhanding. To build a world with any aspirations of justice and peace, we need more than just attitude. We need substance, people who will work hard, and honesty.

Solving human relations problems requires something a bit stronger than the band-aid of day to day attitudes that this book prescribes.

If you want to learn management, this book is not the way to go. Writing style is boring and the sections in each chapter are non-cohesive. After reading, you are like so what?

The Gamma Ray Sky with COMPTON GRO and SIGMA covers the new results of the COMPTON Gamma Ray Observatory (GRO) satellite, which covers six decades of energy from 15 keV to 30 GeV, the French gamma ray telescope SIGMA, the first imaging experiment on a satellite to observe gamma rays from 35 keV to 1.3 MeV, and of ground-based telescopes in the TeV range. SIGMA and the suite of four instruments aboard the COMPTON GRO are first described by the members of the COMPTON GRO Team and the SIGMA science team. Most of the rest of the book is then devoted to the astronomical implications of these observations. The topics covered are: galactic and extragalactic gamma ray sources; galactic and extragalactic gamma ray backgrounds; the galactic centre; gamma ray spectrometry; and gamma ray bursts. An original book in which both experimentalists and theoreticians -- both astrophysicists and particle physicists -- review the achievements, problems and prospects in the gamma ray field, from 15 keV to 1 TeV. Also suitable for young scientists working on related topics.
