In addition to teaching you how to set up your books correctly, it also includes a CD with National Estimator and Job Cost Wizard. The current products liability crisis is both familiar and puzzling: million-dollar awards for apparently frivolous claims, inadequate settlements for thousands of people with severe injuries, skyrocketing insurance premiums, an overburdened judicial system. The adverse effects of this crisis on product innovation may be particularly detrimental to the extent that they deprive consumers of newer and safer goods.

W. Kip Viscusi offers the first comprehensive and objective analysis of the crisis. He employs extensive, original empirical data to diagnose the causes and to assess the merits of alternative reform policies.

Drawing on both liability insurance trends and litigation patterns, Viscusi shows that the products liability crisis is not simply a phenomenon of the 1980s but has been developing for several decades. He argues that the principal causes have been the expansion of the doctrine of design defect, the emergence of mass toxic torts, and the increase in lawsuits involving hazard warnings. This explanation differs sharply from that of most other scholars, who blame the doctrine of strict liability. Viscusi reformulates the concept of design defect, grounding it in sound economic analysis. He also evaluates public policy regarding hazard warnings and proposes a new national approach.

More generally, the author sketches a comprehensive social risk policy, in which tort liability interacts with government health and safety regulation to foster a coherent set of institutional responses to health and safety risks. Reforming Products Liability will be of special interest to lawyers, judges, policymakers, economists, and all those interested in legal policy and health and safety issues.

I like Astronomy very much, particularly I am interested in the Planet Mars. On Mars there is a less gravity, and I am an invalid. Perhaps we can live better there. So far it is the Planet most studied. I think it is very important the idea to explore Mars and to settle it. The different missions are our eyes. This book let us see what our eyes have seen in such a beautiful place very far. I like this French scientist very much. To have this book it is a little to speak with him!

"Visions of Mars" is filled with astounding images of Mars, most of them photographs taken by the Viking, Pathfinder, Spirit, and Opportunity lander missions, some by the Mars orbiters, and others created by computers based upon orbital laser data. Almost all of them are colored according to the best interpretation of what Mars would look like to the human eye (in general, the photographs are constructed from black-and-white images made with color filters, then layered together). We get to see the salmon-pink of the Martian sky and the coppery dust that covers the planet. Many of the orbital images show canyons that dwarf anything to be found on earth, Along the visual journey, the text explains the latest findings and thinking regarding the questions about water on Mars and the possibility of life there.

He shows that there is a high degree of probability for artificiality, something that NASA and Michael Malin vigorously deny - to this day. This book explores the fundamentals of image processing as applied to satellite photography. The author also details the processing of the images of constructed features on the surface of the planet Mars. Mr. Carlotto was able to demonstrate in very easy terms the methods used to illuminate these breathtaking images. I eagerly await any book from this author on the latest set of images taken in 1998.

Richter and Mar write with a strong sense of urgency, bringing a fresh perspective to the debate on Asia's future. The books starts with two short chapters by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir and Australian Prime Minister Howard, followed by longer chapters written by the who-is-who of corporate and political Asia. Issues addressed include globalization, regiononal trade, governance issues, and corporate strategies. A useful book.

An Excellent Primer on Asia's future.......2002-12-04

Reading this book is a really enjoyable experience. Most of the real Asian shakers and movers (including Lee KY, Tung CH, Mahathir, Arroyo, Takenaka) are gathered in this project. I especially appreciate the way the content was given with an appropriate mixture of open-source information, empirical data and personal experiences.

If you want a systematic and sound grouding in Asian economies, this is the book to read.

Not an extraordinary book.......2002-11-19

This edited book appears to be a compilation of speeches -- though it may not be. It's great weaknesses are that it covers a very wide terrain and so the coverage is skimpy; also there is no counterpoint to the write-ups that often appear like propoganda. Political writers have their thinly disguised political agendas -- this shows. The book lectures too much. On the plus side, it provides a nice array of political figures and names -- but unfortunately they really do not say anything new.

RECREATING ASIA presents an excellent analysis of both the situation and causation of economic conditions in East Asia.

The book is easy to read but not simplistic and has all the economic/political/social frameworks to support and highlight the editors' and authors' positions.

If you are looking for a recreating Asia, then this is the book for you.
