Finally an affordable and well written book for the CFA Test! The book covers AIMR's Learning Outcome Statements exceptionally well and the information covers what I think is going to be on the test in June. Unlike a few other titles, this book is more than adequately priced especially when concidering how much its going to help me with the test!!! Thanks again guys!

BISK BEC Book and Software .......2005-11-04
I have serious issues with the quality of the BEC Review by Bisk. I have successfully used all four sections of Bisk's review, but I want to warn potential purchasers of the lack of quality in this volume. Sure, the BEC section is "new", but the editing was terrible on both the book and the software, simple mistakes as mentioned by the other posts. For the amount of money review materials cost - it should be mistake free. THE REAL PROBLEM THOUGH, is the lack of information in the IT section. They use AICPA developed questions for their practice sections, but fail to discuss nearly half of the answers in the text. I read the chapter two times before taking the practice questions, and had NO IDEA where some of the q's were getting pulled from. On the software, it has a link that says "click here for in depth solution." This takes you to the text where the answer is supposed to be found, many times, it was not there. Often times, impossible to infer the answer from the text as well. I would not waste money on Bisk's BEC section.
Better CPA review than most!!.......2004-07-27
For the money, Bisk is hard to beat. The strongest part of the Bisk review, in my opinion, are the Audio CD's. They don't just read from the book, like some audio CD's. They actually engage you in a friendly, often humorous, manner. This really helped me to remember key concepts. I believe Bisk has the best examples in their books of all the providers. Except maybe for Becker...but you can't buy Becker books without buying their WHOLE program. And you can buy these books dirt cheap on Amazon. Like any review program, it is only good if you use it. And if you don't put the time and effort into it, it won't work. I also take issue with the other reviews on the BEC book. I think Bisk has done a great job with the BEC section.
Errors galore.......2004-07-08
Yes, this book was very poorly edited. All the new parts such as Economics have incorrect answers in the back. Very distracting when you're trying to hunker down and study. There's one part where the answer key actually says 3 + 4 = 5 . Which, if you were just glancing over the answers, would really throw you for a loop. But on a positive note, i passed the BEC section with an 82.

This is a great book. It provides Job hunters a wealth of practical advice for a myriad of situations one is likely to encounter in the job market.
But to make use of the ideas discussed in this book, all job hunters need a top-flight resume.

Helpful guideline for recruiters.......2001-04-19
This book provided a great presentation of the executive search process. Being a recruiter for the last five years I have been missing a standard in the market such as the one presented in Secrets of the Executive Search Experts. The book was written in a unique way as it combined the best from several search firms such as Korn Ferry International, Ward Howell and A.T. Kearney and thereby created a plain and simple recruitment guideline which was based on the experience of more than 150 recruitment professionals within these firms. The mistake I have seen on most books written about this subject is that it's usually based on just one recruiters experience, which was not the case here. Personally I have not yet found a book that explains the process as detailed as in this book.
I have feel that more info should have been included on trends within the recruitment industry such as where the market is heading within the next few years. More information could also have been covered in the internet section of the book. But, as this was a book about executive search it would be wrong to present to much info on variuos job sites as these are meant for jobseekers, which is another industry than headhunting which focus on the candidates that are not out there looking for a new boss. Bottomline; great book.

Over hyped & out of date.......2001-03-13
First, to be fair, this book is from 1999. So the fact that recruiting sites like monster.com aren't even mentioned can be blamed on the cruelties of time.
But the rest of this books (many) limitations are harder to forgive. The entire back half of the book consists of descriptions of a number of foreign markets that are on the level of a 5th grade research project: lots of data, most of which is irrelevant, and a few tiny cultural references.
The front half of the book is very pedestrian- I didn't see anything that isn't in any basic 'how-to' of recruiting, much less any "Secrets" of the "Experts". Since the people credited as the authors are from big-name companies I would guess that they had their underlings cobble together some bits & pieces from corporate publications, industry journals, etc. into a book.
Save your money.
A good outline of a successful process.......2000-10-07
The authors do a good job in spelling out how they operate in the US and in foriegn countries in their recruiting business. It is helpful to a recruiter to see inside a successful operation. Although a large part of the book is devoted to overseas recruiting, there is enough information on the process in the US to make this book a good addition to your bookshelf.

This book provides a unified treatment of the characteristics of telescopes of all types, both those whose performance is set by geometrical aberrations and the effect of the atmosphere, and those diffraction-limited telescopes designed for observations from above the atmosphere. Not one of the better Textbooks I've read.......2007-05-13
I'm afraid I can't give this book a very good review. The title should be "Mathematical Analyst of Telescope Aberrations." Even then, unless you are in the process of designing either a Cassegrain Telescope or a Schmidt Camera, the book does little except tell you what papers to consult. For my current project of building a lens based camera for my university's telescope, I found maybe 30 pages out of the entire book which were relevent. And John David Jackson's "Classical Electrodynamics did a better job of explaining most of those topics.
Good book that allows one to understand optical aberrations........2006-03-22
Good, comprehensive book that explains both basics and advanced aspects of optics used in telescopes. Most of the book focuses on optical aberrations and shows how to construct various telescopes and other optical devices like spectrographs with minimized coma, astigmatizm or spherical aberration. The book has chapters about spectrographs, CCDs and active optics which may be helpful to anyone who considers to add such elements to his/her telescope.

This book has some unique features. It treats the subject matter carefully, and in detail. The content is very useful. The treatment of spectrometer optics is particularly useful. The weakness of the book is that the diagrams are not well done, and the notation can be confusing. Overall, a useful book.
