At the beginning of the new millennium, two unstoppable processes are taking place in the world: (1) globalization of the economy; (2) information revolution. As a consequence, there is greater participation of the world population in capital market investment, such as bonds and stocks and their derivatives. Hence there is a need for risk management and analytic theory explaining the market. This leads to quantitative tools based on mathematical methods, i.e. the theory of mathematical finance.
Ever since the pioneer work of Black, Scholes and Merton in the 70's, there has been rapid growth in the study of mathematical finance, involving ever more sophisticated mathematics. However, from the practitioner's point of view, it is desirable to have simpler and more useful mathematical tools.
This book introduces research students and practitioners to the intuitive but rigorous hypermodel techniques in finance. It is based on Robinson's infinitesimal analysis, which is easily grasped by anyone with as little background as first-year calculus. It covers topics such as pricing derivative securities (including the Black-Scholes formula), hedging, term structure models of interest rates, consumption and equilibrium. The reader is introduced to mathematical tools needed for the aforementioned topics. Mathematical proofs and details are given in an appendix. Some programs in MATHEMATICA are also included.

A priceless guide full of hundreds of templates and examples.......2006-11-12
As a Transactional Six Sigma Black Belt, this has been one of the most useful six sigma books I own. It contains a wealth of illustrations and tools that are priceless in terms of teaching process improvement teams basic six sigma methods. Using this book, people in process improvement can learn to apply many of the basic six sigma concepts.
I cannot stress enough, the number of useful illustrations and examples that are in every chapter in this book. Where most six sigma books tell you what six sigma is and how to analyze and measure, this one gives you the communication tools that are essential for getting and keeping an improvement project on-track.
Although many six sigma people would disagree with me on this point, I am a firm believer that Process Improvement & Management is the program to achieve business change success and six sigma is a tool to help accomplish and control the improvements.
A must read and a bargain-priced book. I recommended it to every process improvement team I lead and the feedback is always a "Wow - what a book!"

Classroom training for Six Sigma costs what!.......2005-11-05
I began my journey to learn about Six Sigma around a year ago. At that time I investigated classroom training on Six Sigma. The cost for Six Sigma training was far too expensive for my management team to seriously consider. My most viable option was to train myself. I bought seven, yes seven, books on the topic of Six Sigma. This book was the best of the seven resources I purchased. This book is an inexpensive resource for training. I would also recommend an introduction to Six Sigma to supplement this book. My recommendation would be, "What is Six Sigma?" (another book by Pande). I have several years of quality experience so not every newcomer can just read a book. For most business process improvement efforts this book can give you the education to be dangerous against company waste and inefficiencies.

This extensive, highly valuable resource. It has five major sections, each with instruments for measuring/auditing teams for: effectiveness, leadership, strengths and blockages, and performance. The fifth section provides instruments to help facilitators plan and deliver effective team development interventions.
The five major sections are broken down into 27 topic-specific sub-sections, each with its audit, assessment or questionnaire. Each of these has a brief discussion of the instrument's objectives, set-up, method, and time required.
Some sections provide discussion of a key topic, for example: the twelve-component team effectiveness model; twelve dimensions of team effectiveness; ten dimensions of team values; top team strength definitions; improving your team facilitation skills.
Eight subsections offer an exercise and four have a action plan; one subsection presents a mini-workshop. Others end with a discussion of the subsection's topic.
From a consultant's standpoint-internal or external-this is a extremely useful, clearly organized, and well presented resource. Very highly recommended.

Finally Some HELP!.......2000-11-14
This book really helped me know what my rights are and how to handle my landlord. It helped me understand my lease and now I know how to get my landlord to fix things. There is lots of info about anything that could come up while renting. Great book to have around even if you aren't having a problem.

As a beginner starting out in the rental business, this book was the most helpful that i have found. It is very thorough, but incredibly well organized and easy to use. The forms section and included CD ROM really give you everything you need to get started. Of course you will want to alter them a bit and make them more suitable for your specific situation, but doing so is quick and easy. A friend of mine who has been in the landlording business for quite a while actually rushed out and bought a copy of his own after viewing mine. Truly a great book!

Maybe, Maybe Not.......2004-03-07
This book is filled with valuable information, but the set up is extremely poor. If you look at the table of contents you'll see the title names and page numbers along with "sub-chapters" pertinent to specific topics. THE PROBLEM is that there are no page numbers given for any of the many "sub-chapters", making it very difficult to find what you are looking for. As I said above though, this book does contain useful information, especially on the topic of eviction. I recommend buying this as a SUPPLEMENT to THE NEW YORK LANDLORD'S LAW BOOK, by Mary Ann Hallenborg.

This book is out of print and the new edition is called The Landlord's Legal Guide in New York. I'm the author and thought I would post this so customers could easily find it, since the publisher slightly changed the title.
Extremely Useful Information!.......1999-11-04
Reading this showed me what my rights are with my renters. Now I can do my own evictions. It was good that it told me what I am supposed to be doing under the law for my renters.
