Customer Reviews:
Excellent source for fixed income analytics.......1999-08-23
I had the pleasure of having Mr. Questa as a guest lecuturer in a Fixed Income class. This book was used as the text, prior to its publication. The book is a great intro-intermediate fixed income book. It also covers the advanced stochastic models well. It is one of few books that also integrates the foreign exchange market into the analysis. In a few areas the book is difficult to follow however after a careful re-reading it sinks in.

Customer Reviews:
Great Reference.......2007-04-25
I found this book to be an invaluable reference for my research in the area of compensation. It covers all of the main topics in compensation management with articles from the best minds in the field. The trend summary and chapter introductions provide an overview that is interesting and insightful. That kind of analysis is hard to find. The information is surprisingly up to date, since change is slow in this field.
The book is essential for compensation professionals.
The Compensation Handbook.......2006-02-26
Received with thanks the Compensation Handbook in a very good condition. It is exactly the product I was looking for. I believe that it would be a very important reference to my business.
The Compensation Handbook.......2000-06-27
As a compensation consultant, I sought a comprehensive guide for all aspects of the field. The 4th edition of The Compensation Handbook provides simple and direct answers for every compensation problem. It is a virtual "who's who" of compensation professionals providing well-constructed, concise information on their area of expertise. No matter what information I seek -- from base compensation, variable compensation, executive compensation, performance and compensation, compensation and corporate culture, or international compensation -- I can find pertinent, practical guidance in this one book. Compensation issues that are currently challenging every company - regardless of size, age, or industry -- are especially well developed in The Compensation Handbook. The section on Corporate Culture containing chapters on "Culture and Compensation" and "Connecting Compensation, Behaviors, Culture, and Strategy to Win" by William M. Mercer consultants, "Rewarding Scarce Talent" by Patricia Zingheim, "Gaining a Competitive Edge by Improving the Return on Human Capital" by Peter LeBlanc, and "The Role of Work-Life Benefits in the Total Pay Strategy" covers issues that every compensation practitioner or human resources professional will grapple with in the forseeable future. Even the effect of technology and computers on compensation administration are handled in The Compensation Handbook. Information on global compensation strategies is relevant not only to practitioners but to anyone seeking employment on foreign soil or working for a foreign company. The Compensation Handbook is a winner.

Written for family lawyers, judges, and plan administrators, this is a comprehensive resource for effectively handling QDROs and working with all of the parties involved.
Customer Reviews:
Hope you find it helpful.......2000-12-21
This book will also be useful to people going through a divorce, or whose divorce is several years old but they have never had a QDRO done. Getting a QDRO prepared and accepted by the plan is ESSENTIAL; your divorce decree or separation agreement alone is not enough to obtain your share of your former spouse's pension benefits. The increase in the number of employees participating in 401(k) plans has been astonishing and continued growth is a certainty. Written for anyone involved in the design, implementation, and day-to-day operation of 401(k) plans, this book is a guide to understanding the strategic and fundamental issues involved in successfully managing a plan. In addition to demystifying the complex tax and legal environment in which these plans must operate, this book guides the reader in designing an appropriate 401(k) plan and in managing operational issues such as plan investments and administration. The Handbook of 401(k) Plan Management includes: Communicating to plan participants to help them get the most from their 401(k) plan participation; Dozens of examples, graphs, and tables that simplify complex legal, financial and administrative issues; Strategies for increasing the value of 401(k) plans for both employee and employer.
Customer Reviews:
Way Out of Date.......2005-01-07
As far as pension industry books go, anything published over two to three years ago can be considered obsolete. This being published in 1992 missed all the changes that have affected 401(k) and pension plans, especially EGTRRA. You are better off finding something either written in the current year or something written after 2002.
Don't waste your money.......1999-07-17
Too basic and outdated

Book Description
Providing domestic partner benefits is a growing - and controversial - trend among employers. Domestic Partner Benefits - An Employer's Guide 2nd Edition helps you investigate the benefits and drawbacks of offering pension and welfare benefits to employees' domestic partners.
This new softbound book from the Pension and Benefits editors of Thompson Publishing Group, Inc. addresses such issues as
-- How "domestic partner" should be defined
-- How federal and other laws affect the provision of domestic partner benefits
-- Whether benefits should be offered only to same-sex domestic partners and what, if any, proof should be required to receive benefits
-- What administrative issues, such as taxes, payroll/withholding, FMLA, COBRA and HIPAA, are involved when offering domestic partner benefits
This one-of-kind book guides you through the process of establishing a domestic partner benefits program. It features a model launch and timeline, model policies, notices, forms and affidavits. You get an entire implementation strategy - no need to hire expensive consultants
the guidance you need to make important decisions is right inside your copy of Domestic Partner Benefits - An Employer's Guide 2nd Edition.
Plus, the Domestic Partner Benefits - An Employer's Guide 2nd Edition summarizes important court decisions in this rapidly developing area of the law and profiles employers' experiences in setting up and running domestic partner benefits programs.

Book Description
Capital-intensive projects throughout the world -- including large-scale energy, infrastructure, toll road, solid waste, and recycling projects -- rely on project finance as the most important financing technique available. But the complexity of project finance requires that the practitioner predict and resolve a number of potential risks involving bankruptcy, currency, and political issues, among others, and often in emerging economies. Drawing on the author's 15-plus years of experience in all types of project finance, The Law and Business of International Project Finance is the first comprehensive, multi-discipline book to address these risks and their resolution and to detail each of the elements necessary for a successful project financing. Mirroring the structure of an actual project finance deal, this all-in-one handbook examines each step of the process, from the rationale for the project finance, through risk allocation and mitigation, to dispute resolution. Topics discussed include financing sources, environmental issues, bilateral and multilateral support, contract aspects and typical contract terms, project contracts as credit support, project finance loan documents, collateral documents, and permits. All participants in a project financing -- including lenders, developers, investors, host governments, governmental agencies, multilateral and bilateral agencies, off-take purchasers, input suppliers, contractors, and operators -- can turn to The Law and Business of International Project Finance as an accessible tool and a reliable research database. Its unique combination of practical features includes + a checklist of key considerations to assist the practitioner in structuring, negotiating and reviewing a project finance transaction; + a detailed glossary of project finance terms; + references to legal and business books and articles relating to project finance; and + sample project finance clauses and provisions with discussion and suggestions for implementation. These features enable practitioners and non-practitioners at all levels to understand the components and language of project finance and to recognize and avoid potential pitfalls.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent.......1999-04-28
We bought a copy for our project finance/infrastructure finance dept. at our bank. It's excellent, especially the due diligence checklist
Brilliant.......1998-10-20
This is the one project finance book I keep at my desk and take with me on business trips. It is invaluable. The book is filled with important information I need when working on a project finance deal (sample contract provisions; explanations of currency risks; financing sources; World Bank lending characteristics; political risk insurance; and on and on. The author manages to do the impossible--he combines legal and business aspects of project finance in an easy-to-use format, from a real life perspective. Each part of a project finance deal is addressed in separate chapters.
My only criicism is that the author uses the European-favored expansive table of contents, rather than a detailed index. Yet, the book is so well organized that the information is easy to find.
It's clearly the best legal and business book on project finance available. It gives me, as a business person, a real edge.
Excellent and comprehensive.......1998-10-02
A well thought out treatise on project finance covering not just the legal issues, but also from a commercial perspective. One of the better books on the subject
