I started at the beginning of September tracking how much I spend in every catagory, and I have some shaving to do on my spending for sure, but this book lets me track everything from atm fees to my lotto tickets, to gas purchases. I've been able to have my paycheck last through out the week so far for the past few weeks.
I will deffinatly get another book when I need it!!

Worth a look. Supplemental guide........2007-04-15
This book is an excellent, budget, worksheet resource because it's the unplanned for, non-monthly, but still regular expenses that punch holes in any "monthly" budget plan. For those who've forgotten about quarterly, semi-annual, annual, birthday/holiday, etc., expenses it's a real eye opener. Couple that with modern society's growing use/dependency on non-cash transactions . . . credit cards . . . debit cards . . . prepaid cards . . . and most people don't realize how much they're actually spending at any given time/moment. But be FOREWARNED any new budgeters, this book is very weak on "overview" . . . there's no "big picture." A very simplified explanation of why one needs to do what, when, and how rolling into . . . "and this is how we get started" . . . is nowhere to be found. There's a reason one needs to initially track every expense (to identify what you're actually spending your money on) . . . organize that into some form of logical summary (determine the actual total cost of the lattes here, magazines there, fast food, etc.) . . . and develop a plan of attack if change is needed/required . . . is sorely missing. For those new to budgeting, it's not intuitively obvious. I was neither interested in nor cared that they included free budget (Mvelopes) software . . . but I did find it rather interesting that right out of the gate they discourage anyone from using Quicken or MSMoney with the quote, "I have found that for many people there is critical tactile and visual learning that occurs with the manual approach that does not happen as effectively electronically" . . . and then immediately follow that up with their software Mvelopes and all the great, wonderful things it too can do for you . . . guess the name of the game is ultimately still "Money."

As a parent, you can try to tell them what budgeting and saving entails, but the information was MUCH better received in the form of this book. As she sat reading it and said, "Oh, that's a good idea", I felt better about sending her into the world...and her first real job. This book covers everything a novice budgeter needs to know. Add it to the list of must haves for the newly graduated.

Is a single "Global Currency" possible??.......2007-04-09
The U.S. Dollar has been the monetary "corner stone" since the
1944 Bretton Woods Conference.
The ECU or European Currency Unit--now called the EURO, is coming
very close to edging-out the dominance of the 'almighty buck".
Iran wants Petro-Euros versus U.S. Petro-Dollars in it's Oil-based
market-bourses.
China, with all it's new power, suffers from Economic Consumptionary
problems. It's like the crisis that forced Chiang-Kai-Shek from
the Chinese mainland, as Chinese farmers working on collective
farms are NOT sharing in China's "new prosperity"--or--64% of the
Chinese populace. This is SOCIAL DYNAMITE.
China's currency is way under-valued.
In short, the year 2025 A.D. is too soon for a WORLD CURRENCY.
I am a sort of an Internationalist, but nationalism, and even the
forces of ultra-nationalism , are on the rise.
Militant Islamo-fascism blots out any meaningful Internationalism.
This book, The Single Global Currency, is still an excellent treatise
in the needed Monetary Reformation of the World.
But the best ideas now in force are the Tobin Tax, and the United Nations
Law of the Seas Treaty.
These are the two "building-blocks" for a Better World Order, but not
a/the "new world order".
Concerning this book that I am reviewing;
BUY IT. I already have.
This book does call for CITIZENS ACTION FORUMS, not "focus groups",
so BUY THE BOOK!!

Simply the best book on personal finance you can buy.......2006-05-20
I actually had this book in 1993 when it was self published the principles in it showed me how to go from being totally broke and $50,000 in debt to now having a net worth of $150,000, this is also after going through a divorce where I lost 50% of my net worth.
This is financial step one:Start the journey.I have also been listening to Dave Ramsey on the radio since he started in Nashville in 1993. His common sense information is why I have a 6 figure 401K, and have had financial peace over the past 13 years. He taught me what my parents should have about personal finance. This is a great beginners book in personal finance,it can show you the way out of debt and into prosperity. Here are some of the rules:
1). Never have a car payment
2). Do not use credit cards
3). Get a mortgage of less than 25% of your monthly net income.
4). Have 3 months of expenses saved
5). Get a career you love not a job
6). Tell yourself and yout family NO to things you can not afford
7). Contribute 15% to your 401K
8). Live on a budget
9). Live on less than you make!
10). Work two jobs until you are out of debt.
It is worth the price you pay short term for the long term peace.
Financial Peace - A Plan that Truly WORKS!.......2006-05-05
This book has literally changed our lives. I give this as a wedding gift (w/some cash) for many young couples. But, young or old, the practical steps given in this book can change your life!
Ramsey is blunt, but caring. He provides hope when things look the worst. He's lived through bankruptcy and loss of everything, and he shares his story to show how changes in money management can impact you. Written in easy to understand language and terms. Should be required reading for all high school students! (but, it's not too late for the Baby-boomers.) Ramsey is a true teacher.
Practical and Doable.......2005-07-06
Dave Ramsey makes it easy to apply the principles he outlines in this book. In the conclusion he evens admits he hasn't totally implemented all he writes about in his own life. He explains that if a reader can accomplish 25% of what he describes, significant financial progress will result. There is not any major revelations in this book. He reminds you of the basics.
He puts finances into context, emphasizing from the outset that other aspects of life have to be taken into consideration. One of the recurring themes is to give to worthy causes. He also talks about tithing. His discussion on money always being in circulation is worthwhile.
The reflective nature of this book takes the subject matter way beyond greed. Stewardship, not accumulation is the framework. These principles are worthy goals which should be achieved by anyone interested in being a responsible adult.
SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL.......2004-06-03
This is a very simple and easy to read book about getting out of debt and becoming financially free. The steps are clear-cut and presice and I plan on using the techniques to become free of debt. But to me the most powerful thing about the book is how it changes your way of thinking about debt. I like everyone hates being in debt but for some reason we've come to think that it's neccesary. The whole nation is in debt and it's only getting worse. This book opens your eyes to the fact that debt destroys lives and causes a never ending cloud of depression over you.
I really don't think people realize this in their everyday lives. They buy and buy what they can't afford and wonder why they're not happy with their spouses, jobs, careers, lives. Bottom line ,,, Debt equals NO PEACE and this book proves it.
The only negative about this older version of the book is that it doesn't suggest what a person should do if they don't have the money to take the steps. The book is so powerful in influencing your mindset it seems strange that it leaves out the important fact that a person may have to get a part-time job or they may have to cut out a lot of luxuries in order to get debt free. This version also doesn't suggest how a couple should work out differences of opinions when it comes to credit.
Other than those two things this is a great read for everyone and a book I feel every freshman in college should get for free before they start receiving all of those pre-approved credit card statements..
Knowledge without Action is Powerless!.......2003-05-03
Dave Ramsey presents some very good information and IF most people appled it they could indeed create Financial Peace. The truth is as Dave says on page 271, "..Reading this book and obtaining knowledge is good, BUT IT IS NOT ENOUGH." Over 7 trillion dollars in consumer debt has families struggling with not only money but with time. They need a system that takes less than an hour a month, which is about all of the time and energy they have to break free. Dave certainly has the heart of his reader in mind when he wrote the book.

Wow another great book........2007-08-25
We bought this book when the author was at a signing. My 3 year old is in love with Thumbs Up Johnnie. The character was at the signing and my son wouldn't let go of this hand or should I say thumb. This book is wonderfully written at a level that encourages children to save money. I love the art the pages look like money. Great idea about recycling peanut butter and jelly jars.

This book describes the creation of a simulation model that is designed to serve as an artificial test market. The market is sufficiently realistic to permit it to be used for experimenting with a wide range of alternative marketing programs for a manufacturer of a branded, frequently purchased food product.
The simulator includes characterizations by brand and size of: (1) the rates of retailer promotions (such as retail price discounts, newspaper advertising, displays, signs and banners, special offers, and premiums) as a function of the promotional allowances offered by competing manufacturers; (2) the response of costumers in terms of sales volume to the aforementioned retailer's promotional activities; and (3) the transformation of these volume movement figures into estimates of manufacturer profitability. The simulation model is designed to take advantage of modern time-sharing computation facilities and permit virtually instantaneous assessment of alternatives, and to encourage the combining of executive judgments on current market conditions and probable retailer responses with historical data.
In order to develop the component of the stimulator which relates retailer promotional activities to consumer volume movement, econometric methods are used to analyze a remarkably complete set of data in such a way that the reader may follow the author's thought processes as they work through complex quantitative techniques. The econometric model that they develop is a multiple-equation model. The use of this type of model is relatively new in marketing, although econometricians have been familiar with these techniques for a number of years. The present study develops and discusses the special statistical methods required to estimate the parameters of such a model and postulates a specific model linking the demand for a given brand and size to the promotional activities of all the brand-size combinations present in the marketplace for the product in question.
