I have not received this order. I can't navigate your "where's my stuff" sect. I can't find any status section.

4 out of 5 stars Excelent book, lots of information but reads like a tech buliten and leans toward British stuff.......2006-03-24

This book is packed with information and is extremly well written to get the facts across. But the writing style is a bit technical, just the facts and how to do it all. it reads like a service bulitin. If you can learn from that then its great but if you cant then you wont be able to get through this book. It also leans toward british stuff, there is a section on carbs and it focus' on the weber side draft and one other british carb that i cant remember the name of right now. all in all it was a good book and if you read it closely you can apply most of it to american vehicles also. I learned alot, even though it was somtimes difficult to hold my intrest.

5 out of 5 stars Good Foundational Book.......2004-08-03

I just recently attended EFI University and was told by instructor to read this book. It had great information for beginning tuners. It even had section about tuning individual carburetors. The electronic fuel injection section was very informative but gave a slight bias to tuning british vehicles and individual throttle bodies. The book had many british words which I had to look up to understand. It included a special version of Emerald M3DK program to help beginning tuners to gain hands on experience.

3 out of 5 stars an okay book.......2003-05-01

This book is good for those who want to learn the basic EFI system. Some thoery, and some parts interesting. It was more oriented towards beginners.

    Book Description

This is the story of six extraordinary men who redefined and redirected the automotive industry after World War II. The six are: Henry Ford II (visionary autocrat with an iron will); Soichiro Honda (most successful automotive entrepreneur since Henry Ford I); Eberhard von Kuenheim (founder of the modern BMW); Lee Iacocca (father of the Mustang and saviour of Chrysler); Ferdinand Piech (builder of Volkswagen Group), and GM executive Robert Lutz (a driving force at Chrysler, GM and BMW). Six Men is both compelling and easy to read, mixing interesting personal details and the stories of how certain car models were build, while painting a picture of how automakers were revived or built and expanded. - Dave Halliday, The Edmonton Journal

    4 out of 5 stars Overall Ok..........2007-04-09

I bought and read this title recently, and was overall satisfied. I was looking forward to sitting down with this book, and was a fast read. I know that repitition is commonly used in poetry to put emphasis on a subject, but in this title there was entirely too much information repeated throughout the chapters, and could have been a bit more informative. There was a consistency of errors throunghout the text also, primarily quotation and punctuation errors, and makes the reader wonder what the editor was paid to do if there even was one. Like I said before the book was good and fast, and once you subtract the set backs the result is still a positive score. Another thing there was no in text citation, or works cited in the book, but the information seemed reliable. If I had $20.00 in my pocket and had the chance to buy it again I think I would have bought it used...

    4 out of 5 stars Six Men.......2005-05-23

Just finished this book in a day, it was impossible to for me to put down. Johnson takes these six men and outlines their impressive careers and their contributions to the Automotive industry in depth.

His insite into their super sized egos, the struggles they faced as they rose and those they left in their wake is a must read for anyone with a passion for Automotive industry history.

Those interested enough to have read the biographies of Ford, Iacocca, and Lutz will appreciate the way Johnson weaves an intriguing story that connects these individuals and their mentors as they either became or didnt become CEO's of their companies in the US, Europe and Japan.

Although I work in the automotive industry, This book presented me with my first indepth knowledge of Piech, and Von Kuenheim and their dominant influence on the global industry.

Some may wonder why Kiichiro or Eiji Toyoda didnt make the list of the six men. You'll have to read the book! Its apparent that the previous reviewer had not read the book or she would not have been compelled to ask the question why "Toyota" was not one of the six.

If you cant resist the tales of the best and the brightest this book takes you inside boardrooms of the powerhouses of industry over a period of 50 extensively researched years.

          Book Description

This book explores the nineteenth century roots of globalisation through the activities of the enterprise network created by the Scottish merchant, William Mackinnon. It follows the rise of the family-led business group from its modest origins in Scotland to its transformation into the world's largest maritime and mercantile conglomerate, tracing the history of the various shipping firms within the group - including the British India, Netherlands India and Australasian United companies - and identifies the key factors behind its domination of coastal steamshipping around the Indian Ocean and into the western Pacific. It provides an analysis of the anatomy and dynamics of the enterprise network over time. The book also examines Mackinnon's relationship with the imperial statesman, Sir Henry Bartle Frere, which drew the network into the operations of British 'informal imperialism' in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea and East-Central Africa regions, and eventually to its sponsorship of the ill-fated Imperial British East Africa Company. It breaks new ground in identifying the interplay of personal and business considerations behind Mackinnon's participation in the 'Scramble for Africa' in its combination of maritime history with business history and imperial history to contribute to the current debate over 'gentlemanly capitalism' and British overseas expansion.WINNER OF THE 2004 WADSWORTH PRIZE. Book Description

Identifiable remains of Rochester bridge date from the Roman occupation and the records of the bridge administration span close on 200 years of economic and social change. The fortunes of the successive crossings, culminating in the Medway Tunnel project of the 1990s, reflect developments in regional and national affairs. The remarkable surviving archive of the bridge administration provides detail on practical issues such as maintainance and financial management, as well as offering a window on the personalities involved in the history of the bridge. Each of the six studies that make up this book focuses on a distinct period setting the history of this ancient river crossing in the wider national context of economic and social -and inevitably political - history.NIGEL YATES was County Archivist of Kent 1980-90, and is currently Consultant Historian to Kent County Council and General Editor of the Kent History Project.JAMES M. Book Description

In American popular imagination, the mobile home evokes images of cramped interiors, cheap materials, and occupants too poor or unsavory to live anywhere else. Since the 1940s and '50s, however, mobile home manufacturers have improved standards of construction and now present them as an affordable alternative to conventional site-built homes. Today one of every fourteen Americans lives in a mobile home.

In The Unknown World of the Mobile Home authors John Fraser Hart, Michelle J. Rhodes, and John T. Morgan illuminate the history and culture of these often misunderstood domiciles. They describe early mobile homes, which were trailers designed to be pulled behind automobiles and which were more often than not poorly constructed and unequal to the needs of those who used them. During the 1970s, however, Congress enacted federal standards for the quality and safety of mobile homes, which led to innovation in design and the production of much more attractive and durable models. These models now comply with local building codes and many are designed to look like conventional houses. As a result, one out every five new single-family housing units purchased in the United States is a mobile home, sited everywhere from the conventional trailer park to custom-designed "estates" aimed at young couples and retirees. Despite all these changes in manufacture and design, even the most immobile mobile homes are still sold, financed, regulated, and taxed as vehicles.

With a wealth of detail and illustrations, The Unknown World of the Mobile Home provides readers with an in-depth look into this variation on the American dream.
