WITHOUT QUESTION this book is the best practical business text I have ever read. Thank you Robert for unequivocally adding value - in a meaningful and tangible way that can be taken to the market and capitalised on. The book is clear, concise, comprehensive & practical, and helped wrap together many general strategy concepts into an effective action based set of implementation tools. VERY, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Comprehensive Integration with Strategy, Easy to Implement.......2000-03-10
I rarely get excited about textbooks, but this particular treatment of strategy, balancing leading and lagging indicators with a view of past, present and future, was enlightening. This book should be a "must read" for any mid- or senior- level manager. It shows how to make your decisions more fact-based and less 'art'. With the coming of age of "management of knowledge" this is a great tool to use to improve business processes. Definitely worth every single penny spent - but especially if you are interested in learning tangible methods!

Horrible book, errors galore.......2005-03-17
This is the worst textbook I've ever come across. Tons of grammatical errors and inconsistencies with monetary units, such as using British pounds and Dollar signs intermixed when they shouldn't be. Basic math skills seem to be lacking from the authors because many of the numbers don't add up. This is totally inexcusable for an accounting-based text. No website for the errata either. Avoid at all costs.

A great book, best thing i loved about it were the case studies...it has around atleast three cases for each chapter (and full length cases like 2-8 pages, not those single problem 1 paragraph cases). Learn soooo much more by the cases cuz they emphasize the decisions taken by the controller and the criteria used to choose among alternatives. If you got a good facillatator to guide discussion, you can get seriously engaged in the case study, especially if there are others with counter views...get the book, or you can also get one of the older editions and a used one is real cheap, not that much changes bw the editions, ive got the latest 12th edition, a 10th edition and also an Indian edition by Tata McGrawhill.

This textbook ties everything together very well and in a proper sequence which makes it easy for the reader to understand. Graphical approac made the linkage even more easier and understandable. The cases were quite good too and aid students in applying the concept. Certainly a suitable book for anyone who wants to see how management accounting takes place in an organization .

An easy to read and good Management Control Systems book.......1998-03-11
This book suits a graduate course in basic management control systems very well. It is easy to read, with short and clear-cut chapters containing the essentials. This may be its only disadvantage: Sometimes it is too short and plain in its discussions. The cases makes the book well suited for case based courses.
