Competent Accounting Education.......2001-02-12
Being a teacher, I find this book is very useful for beiggners as well as for teachers. Basically, In my opinion, accounting can never be understood without concept and principles. This book satisfies all the basic requirements of learners. This book is written in simple and useful business enviornment. It depicts all the concepts and attracts it`s users. The accounting treatments are stated in a simple way. One should can easily understand the basic purpose of financial and manegerial accounting. Really this book is remarkable!! I found this book is very useful. I have not words in my mind to describe it`s actual utility. But one thing is that there is a lack of problems in few chapters, if that could also be included then I am assure that the major problem of practice should be solved. This book described in a simple way, How the accounting performs as the "Language of Business".

An instructional guide for budget conscious consumers.......2004-05-05
Expertly written by Robert E. Tevis (an experienced businessman who knows the techniques of salespeople in Fortune 500 companies), Keep Your Hands Out Of My Pocket: Strategies To Get More For Your Money is a straightforward and "user friendly" instructional guide for budget conscious consumers whether they are shopping for everyday bargains or making large purchases such an automobile. Keep Your Hands Out Of My Pocket clearly outlines the tips, tricks, and techniques that professional salespeople use to get the most possible money out of clients, customers and patrons. Tevis aptly teaches the reader a complete roster of basic skills for standing up to pressure, misdirection, and other sales tactics. Simply put, Keep Your Hands Out Of My Pocket is a superbly organized, deftly presented, and very highly recommended financial self defense guide.
You want this Guy with you when you buy your next Car!.......2004-03-11
A quick, enjoyable and incredibly utilitarian read. Trevis, a bonafide expert on sales from the other side of aisle, exposes some secrets that salesman use to coax unlikely buyers into spending more. He walks you through the process of being an expert negotiator even with the pushiest of salesman. Trevis preaches, be polite but firm and above all an educated buyer. Pretty much common sense. But Trevis masterfully puts it all together. Then he goes way beyond that to offer clever tactics for saying "no," advice on how to stoically manage your emotions during a bargaining session, and when to walk away. Loaded with amusing anecdotes of his own buying experiences with his uncle, father-in-law and other assorted family members. You want a guy like Trevis by your side when purchasing a car or some other big-ticket item. Probably not practical since he lives in New Jersey. Though no doubt purchasing his book would be the next best thing. -- Eric Dondero, Author, Worldwide Multilingual Phrase Book & Vacation Spanish

Playing golf isn't hard; it's playing it well when you're not on your game that's difficult, and few have ever mastered that skill better than former Masters, U.S. Open, and PGA champion Raymond Floyd. One of the fiercest competitors on the fairways, he's as tough with his mind as he is with his clubs; Elements is his primer on how to think like a golfer. More so than any swing tip or technical adjustment, his advice on how to live with bad shots has the potential to lower scores dramatically. Floyd sets up various adverse situations and suggests ways to play through them, but his most important bits of wisdom are more generic than specific: learn what mistakes you can afford to make, and always have a dependable "safety shot" at your disposal when all else seems lost. Golf is less a game of perfection than one of survival and recovery. Floyd's Elements, then, is a comprehensive guide to posting scores you can be proud of on those rough days. --Jeff Silverman
Book Description
Say Good-Bye to Doubles and Triples Forever
Every aspect of golf, from the swing to the follow-through, is a means to one deceptively simple end: to get the ball into the hole in the fewest strokes possible. The Elements of Scoring explains how paying attention to the way you play -- regardless of your level of skill -- will guarantee you fewer strokes, a better overall game, and at the end of the day, more fun.
With a practical and encouraging touch, Raymond Floyd shares his vision of what makes a scorer and shows how you can become this most dangerous of opponents.
- Discover the ten mistakes amateurs make that pros never do
- Learn why the 6-foot putt is the most important shot in golf
- Play to your strengths and hide your weaknesses
- Banish first-tee jitters and focus on the rest of your game
- Know when bogey can be a good score
Golf is a game of mistakes: The secret to better golf lies in making fewer of them and making sure the ones you do make don?t prove too costly. With Raymond Floyd as your teacher, you are sure to shoot the lowest scores you can, day in and day out, playing the game like a true scorer.
Customer Reviews:
Good players who need to learn the art of scoring - sign up here........2007-08-31
Not much swing instruction going on here. This book is primarily for the player who can hit good shots and has above average skill but is still putting up disappointing numbers. It's not really earth shattering stuff. You know that by trying for eagles on par 5 you end up brining bogey and worse into play. You know that when you are in trouble the correct play is to just get back to the fairway. If you are like me you just need someone like Raymond Floyd to tell you these things before you listen! He will tell you these things and plenty more in this great book. It's not watered down a bunch of boring anecdotes - just the goods from a guy who knows how to go low.
A must read for anyone wanting to improve.......2006-09-15
As posted previously, this book isn't about swing mechanics, but about playing smarter golf and being realistic about your game. I think this book would be extremely beneficial to the beginning golfer and would make a great gift. It's a quick read and well written. I try to read it a couple of times a year to remind myself to play within my abilities and keep a good attitude.
Highly recommended!
Best Book on Scoring and Playing with Confidence.......2006-08-21
I am a low handicap golfer who grinds to shoot in the low 70's. Typically, I hit 7-8 greens in regulation. After reading Floyd's book, I played a round and hit 14 greens in regulation. The next round I played in a vicious wind and shot 77. Better than scoring low, these were the two most comfortable rounds I've ever played.
Mr. Floyd's advice is about scoring. There is little about swing mechanics. I will read the first five chapters over and over. After reading these chapters, my mind is calm and clear. If I take this mindset to the course, I am fully confident that I will play my best golf that day.
I own over 40 books on golf. This book is at the top of my list. If I had this book when I was learning the game, I feel I would have saved years in lowering my score. Follow Mr. Floyd's advice and lower your score.
Very helpful .......2006-03-13
Floyd is still one of the best chippers and shot gamers in golf. The PGA pros when interviewed say the same thing. He has a lot to share and much of it is "tough love" to us amateurs--don't over-club, be realistic with your average distance not your best distance etc. He is a very clever golf course manager and it shows in his advice. His description of his early days when he was a risk-taker and losing, while trying to be like Arnie, was very interesting. Once he decided to manage his risks around the course and be himself he became a big winner. This would certainly not be the first book for a beginner (you first need to learn to swing) but this should be a fairly early addition if you want to score well.
improve your score.......2006-02-21
The book seems to be geared more to the single digit handicapper rather than a high handicapper. I find the book dated and the author to be patting himself on the back too often.
Customer Reviews:
I love it..........2001-06-20
Although I would never let a player have so much power as to have spheres above 5, it was intresting to read about the Arch-spheres. Plus it clarified the whole Oracle,God,Archmage thing. All of which are cool concepts and could make for intresting plotlines. such as if a player manages to get his Arete up above 7 as a gift from his storyteller (geez it's hard to do) it could be intresting to have to go on a search for one of these GREATER beings and garner some knowledge from them before they can complete a seeking. Accually thinking about it I would possibly allow players to get up to lvl 6 spheres just because it takes 5 years worth of study and practice to gain it and every dot above. I guess if a player had spent that much time and effort into getting the darn dot I'd let him have it, but it may take a year real-time for 5 years to go by in my games anyways.
Sorry rant. Great book though.
A needed example of those who lose ascension.......2000-05-03
Hey peeps, this is actually a good book, basically it's telling you all about those who dont achieve ascension, and nolonger can, by making any of the characters in the book or following any of the paths in it, you can no-longer achive ascension even the oracles, failed in achieving the thing the game is mainly about.
Mages shouldent have this much power.........2000-04-09
If you like playing mini gods then this book is alright. If you like this book then let me suggest Secrets of the black hand for vampire. Do you think your enemys really stand a chance if your mage can creat your own univers...
A BIG hit off the crack pipe, but some great BG info..........2000-03-16
The idea of 6th, 7th, and 8th level spheres gives me the feeling of old-fashioned D+D number-crunching, but the background information on Oracles and Archmages certainly makes the book worth at least looking through. Also, the explanation of exemplars (mages that focus specifically on one sphere) was also insightful and helpful. I think this book would have been a lot better if they had cut out all the Monty Hall-ish arch-spheres and focused more of their time and efforts on the motivations and challenges that face an arete 9 mage - don't make up new arch-spheres (digusting high-level powers that don't flow with the rest of the sphere progression i.e. Forces 8 - Move Continent -WTF?)...Instead, tell me what type of seeking a mage that close to Final Ascension faces... give me story ideas, not silly new ungodly powers that won't realistically come into play. White Wolf can do better than this...

Book Description
The movie screen has been the forum for many star pairings: Bogart and Bacall, Tracy and Hepburn, and Fellini and Kafka. While this latter combination might seem slightly unexpected or improbable at first sight, Carlo Testa's Masters of Two Arts demonstrates that pairings of famed directors and writers are commonplace in modern Italian cinema. Surprisingly, the study of the interrelation between Italian cinema and European literature has been almost completely neglected in film scholarship. Testa addresses and attempts to correct this oversight with nine in-depth analyses of the one-on-one rapport between an Italian filmmaker and a "classic" name in modern European literature. Looking at combinations such as Pasolini and Sade, Rossellini and Stendhal, and Visconti and Mann amongst others, Testa uses theoretical as well as historical methods, showing how the respective text undergoes not 'adaptation' but full 're-creation' (as defined by Èizenshtein) in a different art form and, even more importantly, in a new cultural context.

Fast Moving Read.......1998-02-02
An enjoyable look at some famous and not-so-famous bankrupcty filings. The author's aim is to let anyone who has filed or is considering filing for bankruptcy protection know that they not alone. This is done quite well by examining cases of very large corporations as well as famous individuals who have filed. I would have enjoyed seeing more profiles of individuals, but over all I would say; "Hey Scott, WELL DONE!"
A great book for survivors of bankruptcy!.......1998-01-30
Having experienced a bankruptcy myself, I found this book to be tastefully written and of great interest. It flowed nicely and was easy to read. Having lost my small business, I was surprised to learn about so many major corporations that, too, have had their financial woes. A great book for survivors of bankruptcy! I certainly don't feel so "alone" after reading this. Robert C.
Very interesting........1998-01-30
This book is a very easy read. I was surprised to discover all the famous people, cities and companies have been to bankruptcy court. I also gave it extra points for being written in plain English ... without all the legal jargon.
disappointed.......1998-01-26
While a few of the individual entries were interestings, I was disappointed that the vast majority of entries were businesses. I counted only about 15 individuals. Also no pictures and the writing was at times rather dense.
