The Das Swaps & Financial Derivatives Library – Third Edition Revised is the successor to Swaps & Financial Derivatives, which was first published in 1989 (as Swap Financing). A second edition was published in 1994 (as Swaps & Financial Derivatives – Second Edition (in most of the world) and Swaps & Derivative Financing – Second Edition (in the USA). The changes in the market since the publication of the second edition have necessitated this third edition.

This book is a good introduction to valuation and should be used in conjunction with other books in fixed income. The book references more complex topics that may be explored further in more advanced books. However, the book does a good job of stripping topics to the basic concepts.

Fabozzi covers intensely complicated topics and explains areas that even a non finance person like me can grasp with relative ease. If you need to gain knowledge in this area, I urge you to buy this book!

Just entering the business from a EE background so I am reading this book to get down terminology and concepts before reading John C. Hull. At first "selling short" sounded like something shady.
This book is written in a friendly, interesting style.
Requires some math background (high school algebra) and basic knowledge of statistics (Gaussian distribution).
I have been verifying all calculations. For the asking, I have written some programs to automate interest rate calculations and Black-Scholes (...).
Next I'll write a program to do the work of 100000 stockbrokers in finding and executing arbitrage/reverse arbitrage opportunities.

This is a good reading for someone with no Futures & Options knowledge. I find it quite useful how the author clearly defines various swaps namely-- Currency, Interest Rates and Energy. However, this book would not cover newer Derivs stuff i.e. Credit Derivatives (though it provides a simple snapshot of CDS and TRS). I commend the author for not taking the GEEK approach.
Basic and thorough understanding on Derivatives.......2001-07-06
You may seldom locate a book telling you one of the most practical aspect in recent regime of financial accountng - booking the derivatives. Nevertheless, it spent a few paragraphs together with some examples showing you the booking of three major types of derivatives in the financial market. Other topics also illustrate comprehensively the functioning of the derivatives as well as accompanied with various examples. Had it not been for the limited pages in explaining the booking methodology, it would have been the best derivatives related book that I have met before.

An excellent introduction to options and the over-the- counter foreign exchange markets.Lays out in simple plain English trading strategies and goes about removing some of the mystery that surrounds this subject

The concept of opportunity cost, an integral part of classical economic theory, is more than two hundred years old. Yet it is still not fully understood today. From the supplier: There was no comprehensive tax reform bill in 1996, but a number of bills passed in 1996 contain substantial tax provisions affecting income taxation of individuals. Tax changes for medical expenses include the creation of medical savings accounts and exclusion of long-term care insurance and accelerated death benefits. Tax credits are available for adoption expenses up to $5,000 per child. Other tax law changes addressed personal injury damages exclusion, worker classification, earned income tax credits, gifts of appreciated property to foundations and state taxation of nonresidents.
