Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars FInish Rich Workbook.......2007-08-23

I love the entire series of Finish Rich books. This is my 3rd book I have bought. I just got married and wanted to include my husband in my plan. He is much older and ready to retire. I of course am not. We can now work together for our future. Its taken a little longer than I have planned but can not wait to put all of our things in order.

5 out of 5 stars Super a 1 Job.......2007-05-21

Great Service and quick - I'll definitely but again

This was a good book when released even though it was so Microsoft oriented.

5 out of 5 stars Finish Rich Workbook.......2005-08-02

Just started this workbook so far so good. This is an awesome book and I am just in the beginning stages of the book

5 out of 5 stars If you don't need to be motivated, just told what to do, BUY.......2005-05-23

I did not buy the book, read the book, or know anything about the book until well after I was done with the WORKBOOK. The only thing I was interested in was saving more money and making my money, which is lazy my nature, work harder for me. 11 months later: An IRA, 401k, "rainy day fund", started saving for a house, and just over 10 thousand dollars of credit card debt GONE! If there is a book, I would imagine it wouldn't be as useful as the workbook, since the workbook basically tells you exactly what to do to start "finishing rich".
After reading a few other personal finance books (ie. quadrants, and rich dad stuff), I was disappointed in the fact that those books didn't actually instruct you on what to do, more than give you the ideas and philosophy to do things. I DID NOT need motivation, I needed a step-by-step plan to follow, and this book did just that.
I found the Automatic millionaire workbook a good tool for learning to make things more automatic (automate your bills and such, no more writing checks)but the "Finish Rich Workbook" is really the only, and best, tool you need to get started making a better life for yourself--without having to increase your income or live on noodles and government cheese.

          Book Description

The authors predict that the impact will be far-reaching, leading to a more liquid, mature and efficient capital market. The structure of capital markets in Europe and the behaviour of actors in these markets will be fundamentally affected, leading to a more integrated market. For monetary union to achieve its real objective, policy makers will need to address a wide variety of outstanding issues, in particular the taxation of savings income, accounting standards, capital market regulation and financial supervision.

The start of monetary union on 1 January 1999 launched a process of radical change in the structure of capital markets in Europe. Whereas previously, Europe had been fragmented into many diverse national markets, a single Euro capital market is now emerging.

This book focuses on the long-term impact that the introduction of the euro will have on European capital markets and spells out implications for the financial sector and the wider economy. It discusses what further steps need to be taken to achieve a fully integrated market.

          In particular, the book examines:

          * The institutional and regulatory framework for European capital markets

          * The structure of European capital markets on the eve of EMU

          * The regional differences and the contrasts with the US capital market

          * The central role played by banks in European capital markets and the likelihood that a more market-based system may emerge

          * The implications of EMU for organised securities markets

          * The consequences for governance and policy, and more in particular for the taxation of savings income, securities market regulation and financial supervision

The Euro, Capital Markets, and Dollarization describes the economic and capital market results of the institution of the single currency, the euro, in Europe after January 2000. This startling event appears to foreshadow increased capital market efficiency, increased labor migration, massive cross-border mergers, the eastward spread of the monetary union, and the division of the world into currency blocs. Book Description

One of the greatest events in financial history will occur in 1999: the birth of the euro and the emergence of a unified European capital market. This is the first academic text to consider the medium term impact of a single currency on these markets. It tackles several key questions: Once the euro is in place, what is likely to change in European capital markets? How is the structure of the bond, equity, and derivative markets going to be affected? Are these markets going to be integrated? Is the disappearence of exchange rate uncertainty going to affect risk premium on the equity and corporate debt markets? Is the euro going to compete with the US dollar, and does this matter? Is the introduction of the euro likely to change the sources of competitive advantages of financial institutions? What are going to be the key factors for success in the industry? The European Capital Markets Institute commissioned a report to address these issues. Drawn from various countries and fields of research - banking, economics, and finance - the contributors analyse the structural effects of the introduction of euro on European capital markets.

                  Book Description

This book deals with the EC rules on the free movement of capital and economic and monetary union (EMU). In the context of capital freedom, the author performs a critical analysis, supported by case law, of the problems connected with the abolition of capital controls within the European Community and between the European Community and third countries. The book highlights some of the negative consequences of capital freedom, such as the scope for tax evasion and money laundering. EC rules on EMU, such as the rules on convergence criteria, Stability and Growth Pact, the euro and the continuity of contract, and others, are also presented in a detailed and critical manner.

                      Book Description

To form a more perfect economic union and to establish a single market financially, economically and politically, 11 European countries founded a common currency and a European Central Bank, and created a new monetary unit, the euro, on 1st January, 1999. On that date, the old national currencies officially became subunits of the euro, much as the nickel and quarter are subunits of the dollar.

Fifteen countries started down the road to monetary union in 1992, when they signed the Treaty on European Union, commonly known as the Maastricht Treaty, which outlined a basic structure for the alliance. However, of those 15 countries, only 11 initially joined the European Monetary Union (EMU): three countries opted out, and another did not meet the economic criteria established for membership in the union. The EMU countries decided that the benefits of having one common currency instead of 11 different ones would outweigh the costs, especially given the amount of travel, trade and financial flow that takes place between these countries. This volume considers effects on capital and goods markets of monetary union in general and European Monetary Union (EMU) in particular. The effects of monetary union addressed here broadly fall into three categories -adjustments in goods and labor markets, adjustments in money and capital markets, and institutional adjustments when a group of countries adopt a common currency (and a common monetary policy), but retain quasi- independent fiscal (and other economic) policies. The relation between monetary union and capital market integration is also highlighted.

                          Book Description

This comprehensive handbook, acclaimed when it was first published in 1976 as "one of the most useful reference manuals on diagnostic entomology yet produced," has now been completely revised and expanded to reflect recent advances in technology and the wealth of new information affecting the "Green Industry."

Augmented by 241 full-color plates, it gives the essential facts about more than 900 species of insects, mites, and other animals that injure woody ornamental plants in the United States and Canada, and provides means of quick visual identification of both the pests and the damage they cause.

5 out of 5 stars Well worth it!.......2002-08-14

This book is on my "short list" of essential references. Species are covered in clear, concise descriptions. This well organized volume makes hunting for similar species as easy as turning a page. The photos? I can't say enough about the clear, photos that make insect identification a good deal easier!

While an excellent book for the landscape professional, scientist, or advanced gardener, beginners might be a bit overwhelmed by the technical language and scientific names.

5 out of 5 stars This is a much needed and fabulous manual........1998-06-18

When trying to identify a particular problem with growing trees or shrubs knowing what kinds of insects are possible culprits is a major step. This book gives us, in color photos and descriptions, most of the common larvae that can be found feeding on the particular plants. Even Entomology texts often refuse to deal with larvae of insects, keeping only the adults in the keys and descriptions (even though the adults are often not pests!). This guide will be a welcome addition to any plant clinic, grower, or Entomology professor or student's bookshelf.

                            Book Description

                            A practical and inspiring guide.

Wildlife gardening books have traditionally focused on large gardens in rural areas where there is ample space to plant large trees and hedges. For many new gardeners or those living in urban areas, working with a small space presents a variety of challenges when trying to attract beneficial wildlife.

Wildlife-Friendly Plants is a practical guide specifically designed to help gardeners chose the best plants for encouraging and supporting wildlife. By attracting beneficial wildlife, gardeners can eliminate the use of a range of chemicals and create a healthier environment. This book is intended for any size garden from large to small in the city or country.

                            Wildlife-Friendly Plants includes:

Many of these plants are perfect for use in small spaces, such as a patio, terrace or window box. With the valuable suggestions for use, planting and maintenance, anyone can create a safe haven for beneficial insects, amphibians and birds.

Wildlife-Friendly Plants is the ideal book for gardening and wildlife enthusiasts everywhere.

3 out of 5 stars Beautiful pictures, lite prose.......2006-03-02

For 12 pages, the book discusses the interaction of plants and wildlife. Another 12 pages offer basic tips on planting, plus a few projects. The remaining 115 pages offer 'plant directory'. Each plant gets 1-2 pages, including a wonderful color photos. The photos are magnificent, but the discussion relatively uninformative.

I found "Great Garden Companions : A Companion-Planting System for a Beautiful, Chemical-Free Vegetable Garden" by Sally Jean Cunningham far more helpful.

5 out of 5 stars From soil preparation to choosing the right plants.......2005-02-10

Many home gardeners wish to create a natural habitat for wildlife but don't know how: Rosemary Creeser's bright Wildlife Friendly Plants: Make Your Garden A Haven For Beneficial Insects, Amphibians And Birds covers plants which invite not only birds, but beneficial insects and amphibians, expanding the number of creatures which fall under the 'beneficial' flag. Contrasting colors, scents, and shapes are the heart of creating such a sanctuary, and Creeser's practical advise covers everything from soil preparation to choosing the right plants that go together.

5 out of 5 stars The joys of plants and animals.......2004-11-17

This is a wonderful book that makes you think about which plants to select and grow in your garden, backyard, roof top or balcony with a view not just for the colors, fragances and beauty they bring to you as a human but also what kinds of wildlife they can attract to also enjoy the fragances, blooms, blossoms and nectars they provide.

The guidance on how to do this throughout the book is clear and beautifully illustrated, with enticing descriptions of nectar-rich plants for attracting different species, from bees to birds throughout the year. Suggestions like planting a creeping thyme that is nectar-rich in the small crevices between the stones on a gravel path to enable butterflies to bask in the early morning sunshine provides a quite different way of thinking about what to plant in a garden. Not just to enrichen your own experience but also provide a haven, a home and a food supply for insects.

The extensive plant directory also includes a wonderful set of home drawn (and easy to understand) set of symbols for both plant and wildlife attributes - my favorite being the kinky shaped caterpillar. Each plant is described in terms of the region it will grow in, where to plant it and how to care for it to attract a range of wildlife.

Living in the mid-west of the USA, I was intrigued to see what plant plus wildife combos I could experiment with. I am squarely in zone 5 and was pleased to see from the list of plants that most would attract a range of wildlife, although sadly Indiana is not suitable for growing the poached egg plant (limnanthes douglasii) which thrives further south.

This book will greatly appeal to those who are interested in encouraging (and discouraging) certain kinds of insects, amphibians and birds to their gardens. While the advice suggests postponing deadheading and trimming spent flowers till a little later in the season (to encourage the wildlife to drink the remaining nectar) the trade-off in doing so is to provide wildlife with both food and a place to hibernate over winter without disruption. What better form of altruism. This book provides a different way of thinking about flaura and fauna, especially if you are curious about attracting wildlife to your garden.
