Terrible teribble book. It was dull, simple, confusing. Alice had the worst motives eather. "Only bad boys give you herpeis". Come on that is lame. Never read this book. It is that terrible. Never read it.

Gimme A Kiss.......2004-05-07

This book was wonderful, and full of surprises! I never would have imagined what really happened in the end. It keeps your attention the whole time and you really want to continue reading it till the end. The book is full of suspense and has a lot of twist to it. It would be well worth your time to read this book, you will find yourself trying to figure out what is going to happen even when your not reading. You can really jump right into this book easily.

Gimme a Kiss was written by Christopher Pike.The story takes place in a police station. It also takes place on a boat, floating along a river, and in a cabin on some mountains. The book is about a girl who gets revenge on her boyfriend. I like the story.I like it because it has a lot of excitment. The best part of the book is when Jane's diary is accidentally borught to school. I like that part because it had a lot of excitement. The stoy made me feel emotional. At different parts I felt sad because I felt sorry for Jane. I would recommend this book to a friend because I think they would like it. I would read other books by this author because he takes time for his work.

Set in Santa Barbara, California, "Gimme a Kiss" switches point of views between Alice Palmer (during the police interrogation) and her friend, 17-year-old Jane Retton (during the events leading up to the present storyline), though Jane is more of the main character, or at least the one I was rooting for from the beginning. Distinctly, Jane hasn't been on good terms with the promiscuous head cheerleader (Patty Brane--middle name "No"?) at Wilcox High--and especially of late, when Patty gets a hold of Jane's diary and Xeroxes a juicy page from it, then distributes those copies around school. Jane's boyfriend (Kirk Donner) is of no help either, instigating the rumors and ruining her reputation.

So, as a way to get even with Patty and Kirk, Jane uses Alice's weekend yacht party as the perfect place to enact her plans for revenge, which involves her faking her own death and placing the blame on Patty and Kirk. As a few reviewers mentioned before me, this has a clear "Fall into Darkness" ring to it: staging one's own murder. I also noticed some similarities to "Bury Me Deep," mainly because of the scuba diving, though this book doesn't go quite into as much depth about the sport as "Bury Me Deep" did (thank goodness). This book is also a bit quicker to read than either one (I read it one sitting), being only 152 pages, which comes up a little short in Pike's standards.

One thing I didn't quite understand about this book was the title, until I got a dozen or so pages into it. "Gimme a kiss" is a quote from Jane's fictitious diary, as well as a humorous reference to a "scandalous" secret at the end about cold sores. And speaking of the end, I think Pike may have inhaled a little nitrous oxide himself when he wrote it. It's deliriously funny, or maybe I was just punch-drunk tired from staying up half the night finishing it.

However, I did notice something that may or may not have been a blunder on Pike's part. In the closing scene, some type of gas is released, but there's no mention of what type it is; and since one of the characters had mentioned storing laughing gas in the tanks, I'd have to assume that's what was in them. Yet nitrous oxide is nonflammable. Oopsie.

I read the Final Friends trilogy about 10 years ago and have always wanted to tell the world what I thought about it. It's the kind of story you like to pick up and read over again although you know the outcome. Like a favorite movie. Christopher Pike tells about high school life in a frank and realistic way. The mystery/triller aspect keeps you constantly engrossed in the story. You can imagine yourself in this school and in the situation these kids are faced in. I bought only part 1 at the book store just to see if I'd like it, the next day I had to have the other two books. Don't read the backs of the other two before you read it! The characters become real to you. You can relate to one or more characters in the story and the story becomes apart of you. You never want it to end, but just like graduation day, you get your diploma and everyone goes there separate ways. But the situation you and the characters have found yourself in will always be apart of you. Exellant characters. Exellant plot. Fabulous storytelling. It will force you to read every word!

Male chickens?! Flying pigs?! Enough already. This is not a necessary or even a recommended purchase for a school library. Perhaps as supplemental material if your budget allows. There are much better books about sharing and following your dreams.

This box set shows Pike at his finest. "Gimme a Kiss" is a wonderful story of suspense & betrayal. The main character is Jane Retton, who the reader develops a love-hate relationship with due to her clever yet fallible plan, which is the basis for this story. The other 3 books in this box set are the "Final Friends Trilogy", which Pike did a lovely job with. The stories follow a group of teens beginning their senior year in high school. The death of one of these people at the end of "The Party" begins the mystery that is not truly solved until the end of "The Graduation." There are enough plot twists to keep anyone guessing, & Pike has a unique gift in his rich character development, which is lacking in so many other young adult novels. I would definitely recommend this set (or any of these novels) to any suspense fan.

The perfect compliment to 3D Studio.......2007-07-17

I used to own a version of this Bible for 3D Studio 4x for DOS, and was very satisfied with the multitude of information it shared about the 3D software. The new version even comes with a set of tutorials on DVD-ROM and even a backup copy of the entire Bible. I haven't perused through much of the book, but I doubt I'll be disappointed by what it will teach me about 3D Studio MAX 8.

Another example of how NOT to write an instruction manual.......2007-02-15

Looking through this book I saw immediately that it suffered from the same problem as it's predecessor: lack of thought to the student's learning path.

It is a problem that is almost universal to computer instructional guides do... lack of any educational theory in its writing. It does not guide the newcomer through the art of learning the software, but rather deals with issues as if one is going through the menu commands. The tutorials consistantly use elements and commands that one will not cover for another hundred por more pages, and the chapters are not designed to "build on the student's knowledge" but rather to give all information about a given cocept right from the beginning. Thus, I am taught how to personalise the user interface and use XREFs (external references) before I am told how to create even the simplest of objects.

I am an experienced 3D analylist, with knowledge of CAD and GIS, so I am not the least experienced of readers on this topic. Even so I found it frequently infuriating to attempt to learn this software using this book.

it IS the bible.......2006-11-18

As you might expect, this book has an excellent overview of 3DS Max functionality. If you need depth, probably you will need to read the on-line forums.
But if you are getting started, or you need a reference book, this book belongs on your shelf.
