Recommended supplier.......2007-05-31
The book came in very good condition and was well wrapped. Delivery was very quick. Would recommend this supplier to all.
Solidworks 2006.......2007-05-13
The book is ok for a beginner. An attempt to publish a book on surface modelling would be appreciated.
Total Package for the beginner.......2006-04-26
The SolidWorks 2006 Tutorial is a must have book for your arsenal, if you are a new user to SolidWorks or an Instructor teaching a first year class using SolidWorks.
This book came highly rated to me. Thank you very much T. R. Brian. The book is written wonderful, and provides great step by step procedures with illustrations to strengthen the documentation and learning process.
The authors do an outstanding job in covering, explaining, and documenting the learning procedure for this software package. The book covers sketching concepts, modeling techniques, and documentation control. In no time, you are creating parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies and drawings with multi sheets and views.
Awesome book for the classroom or new user.......2006-04-08
I`m a CAD instructor for a large Community College in the Southeast. September 2005 was the first time that I used SolidWorks. SolidWorks is a great 3D CAD tool. My experience is primarily with AutoCAD, 5 plus years.
I have three freshmen sections of SolidWorks with an average of 25 students per section. The book that I used for the class was poorly written, and did not provide the needed engineering insight nor the step by step instructions that the students required in a 45 minute classroom environment.
I purchased numerous books, (too many) to review for my next year class starting in September 2006. The SolidWorks Tutorial book by Planchard & Planchard provides an excellent overview and a great step by step procedure on 3D sketches, features; Extruded Base/Boss, Extruded Cut, Dome, Revolved, Circular Pattern, Hole Wizard, etc., and drawings; dimensions and annotations, document properties, notes, Exploded view, Bill of Materials, Section View, Detail view, etc.
The book walks you through combining parts into sub-assemblies, then into assemblies, and then into drawings with multiple sheets.
Read the book, look at the illustrations and follow the steps. It's that easy! This is a great book either for the classroom or for a new user.

Beware of the Windows Blue Screen .......2006-04-18
I purchased the SolidWorks Tutorial CD-ROM from Amazon.com a few weeks ago. I'm a first year Community College student on a very tight budget trying to learn SolidWorks 2005. My goal is to obtain an entry level position as a designer ASAP and to attend night school to get a bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering. Note: Most text books are a fortune!
The description on Amazon.com stated that the CD-ROM were a "through step-by-step, full screen video lessons written by recognized experts in their fields." I loaded the CD and read the instructions. I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2 and the CD failed to load 4 times and provided the wonderful Windows blue screen too many times for me to count.
The CD is very unstable, and once I was able to load and run the CD-ROM, it was disappointing with the lack of information on 2D-3D sketches, Features; fillet, hole wizard, lofts, revolves, etc. It provided little to no information on drawings, namely none standard views, tolerance, fit, welds, etc.
I'm not too sure what the author meant by, "can help you master the techniques you need to quickly become productive with the Solidworks program.", but I was very disappointed. PS: To the author; SolidWorks, not Solidworks!
The CD did provide a good overview on the menu interface, Command Menu and FeatureManager, but did not address the ConfigurationManager with design tables or address the SW toolbar, Add-ins, etc. in any detail.

Book Description
A sogo shosha is like no other type of company. The Invisible Link provides a systematic and well-balanced description that covers virtually all aspects of sogo shosha operations, from finance to personnel.
The sogo shosha is not defined by the products it handles or even by the services it performs, for it offers a broad and changing array of goods and functions. Its business goals are equally elusive, for maximization of profits from each transaction is clearly not the major goal, at either the operating or philosophical level. The sogo shosha could be broadly defined as a large, diversified, multinational enterprise engaged primarily in trading. Yet it is a uniquely Japanese business operation whose structural and strategic dynamics have no close counterparts in North America and Europe.
There are only nine sogo shosha in Japan - six of them of major significance - and the largest employs fewer than 15,000. Among them, they handle about one-half of all of Japan's exports and imports. The sogo shosha typically deal in bulk in products that are highly standardized and technologically unsophisticated - raw materials, commodities, intermediary products. A large sogo shosha will finance, develop, manufacture and/or carry over 20,000 different items, "from noodles to missiles" as one slogan has it.
The Invisible Link gives detailed coverage to such topics as historical evolution of the sogo shosha, strategic responses and competitive dynamics, culture and organization, administrative structures and processes, human resource systems, career outcomes, interunit and interfirm coordination, sectional and network organization, and emerging challenges as the nature of the Japanese economy changes.
M. Y Yoshino is Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School. Two of his books, Japan's Managerial System and The Japanese Marketing System, were published by The MIT Press. Thomas B. Lifson is an Associate in the Program on US-Japan Relations at Harvard University.

If you're looking for legal resources online, this comprehensive compendium is clearly a book of choice. The first 20 pages provide a no-nonsense brief on the basics of going online. The resources throughout the rest of the book are organized topically, and the index is very effective at helping you find resources by area of legal jurisdiction. Although the words are printed on austere gray paper, this is a vibrant and essential Yellow Pages of the best kind. Recommended.

Book Description
Take-all is the most important root disease of cereals worldwide. Regarded by many as intractable because of the lack of economic chemical controls and resistant cultivars, it remains one of the great challenges of plant pathology and serves as a useful model for root diseases in general. This
book provides a commentary on the practical aspects of take-all research and on the perception of take-all since the last major book on this subject was published in 1981. Although the volume concentrates on the UK and other parts of western Europe, the regional theme is developed through
comparisons with approaches used elsewhere. The book features a comprehensive worldwide annotated bibliography of relevant literature published over the last 15 years. An initiative of the IACR/ADAS/Universities Cereal Root Pathology Group, the book also features the experience of several
contributors with long and active careers in take-all research, or the advisory services, and is intended for both growers and researchers.
