Delightfull western romance.......2006-09-02
What a wonderful western romance. For all of you that just can't get enough of the old west. It is not a typical a boy meets girl and falls in love story. Their love story evolves from their friendship. Jake falls in love with his best friend and Kit matures from an adolescence infatuation to a mature love. Maureen's writing style is direct and clear. It is a kind of novel that you don't have to go back and reread passages trying to understand what she meant, which in my opinion is the best kind. The secondary characters are delightful. They enhance the story without steering it from the main characters. If you love this novel I highly recommend my other Maureen's favorite "Mail Order Bride".
WHAT A WONDERFUL HERO - EVEN DIME NOVEL.......2003-12-18
Jake Cordell had finally gotten his father's killer. The buzzard was in jail. Jake is tired of drifting and dreams of claiming his father's ranch.
He comes riding into Chaney on his palomino stallion?, Zeus, that has been with him for the better part of the six years he has been gone.
Jake was looking forward to a good tumble with Maggie, his favorite saloon gal. To find Maggie, Jake heads for the sheriff's office - there he has words with an old nemisis, Officer Will Jameson and meets Sargeant Patrick O'Hara.
In finding out that Maggie is dead, he decided to have a pity party and don't you know, Kit has to rescue him.
Kit soon learns Jake's opinion of T. K. Thorne, the writer who was responsible for the legend of Jake Cordell, making him a Dime Novel Hero.
Little does he know that he, Jake, is Kit's hero. Boy, does he have a lot to live up to.
As luck would have it, no one seeks him out to gain a reputation but he does raise a lot of anger and contempt from the man that bought Kit's fathers' newspaper, Mr. David Preston.
The story unfolds in a great fashion -- and keeps you coming back whenever you have to lay the book down. The characters are wonderful - I especially liked Charlie, Ethan and the Indian, Pete - you might call them Kit's family.
The story is about the bonding of Jake and Johnny and with Kit making a family - long wanted by both adults.
Now then [grin] I hate to say it but I don't know of any rider or any cowboy that will nudge his horse forward by heeling the withers [top of the shoulders, don't you know!]- :-) try flanks next time. [P.S. A palomino is not a black nor a he a she]
Altogether a great story -- definitely a keeper!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Maureen Does It Again!.......2002-05-10
Re-visit the west with this great story.
Kit Thornton has always been in love with Jake and so when he left town she wrote stories staring Jake as a fearless and brave man who makes sure justice is served.
Jake returns to Chaney after being gone for so long but he does not look a thing like the young man he once was or like the man that Kit has idolized for so long. This Jake is hard and dangerous and tired of everyone trying to prove that he is not the fast gunslinger bounty hunter there is. What happens when this man and this lady get together is something you will have to read about. Lets just say that Kit has bought Jakes old ranch, has taken in the son he did not know he had, and oh yes she is responsible for the larger then life reputation that he has acquired due to her fantastic imagination. Don't miss this story.
A true love story!.......2000-02-09
What a wonderful story! From the minute I started reading, I couldn't put it down. There are so many elements. It is a wonderful love story between a man and a woman, a mother and son and son and father. Plenty of action and mystery as well. Maureen writes "Kit" and "Jake" completely from the heart and you feel you know them within no time. Everything from dealing with a disfunctional past to secrets within relationships are explored. I will definately read any and all of Maureen McKade's future works. Give yourself a wonderful afternoon and PICK THIS BOOK UP!

I don't know if i like this book but i think other people should read it if they like it!
Clowns are so...DONE!.......2001-05-31
Who was it that decided that clowns were scary? This is one phobia that I can honestly say that I've never possessed. I equate it with guys who wear an earring or turn their baseball caps backwards to show how cool they are. Wanna be spooky? Send in the clowns! As far as I'm concerned, once you've brought out the evil clowns, you've run out of ideas. "Killer Clowns" does, indeed, keep up the Deadlands tradition of gritty writing and opportunities for epic heroism because the evil one faces is EXTREMELY evil, and that's why it's getting two stars from me, but honestly, can't we come up with something besides clowns to be afraid of? You know, every once in a while, you need a NON-supernatural adventure to throw the Posse off guard, and if you've got a choice between running "Killer Clowns" and just having them fight a generic Mad Max type cycle gang, give me choice B every time.

Wherever u-go, mi-go.......2006-03-18
As a CTHULHU player, I was interested in DEADLANDS as a sort-of Cthulhu-out-West game. Not that one is a subset of the other, but you can imagine the 2 games interfacing well in that time and place. As I read more of the Deadlands universe, the more impressed I was with the setting by itself. It has its own flavor of gritty cosmic horror which I find quite amenable.
So what do you do with 2 complementary flavors? You smoosh 'em together!
I find the Deadlands dime-novel format to be quite, er, novel. The adventure is in a small paperback the size of a cheap novel. The first half is a story set in the Weird West; in this case (ADIOS, A-MI-GO), the protagonists are familiar faces from the Deadlnads series, along with an interloper from CALL OF CTHULHU. Plus a scientific expedition from the Fungi from Yuggoth. The story does a nice job of adding flavor to the mechanical presentation of the adventure in the second half of the book. There is also a "third-half" of the book that gives conversion rules between Deadlands and Cthulhu.
The adventure looks as if it would be pretty tough for Deadlands characters. Cthulhu PCs would be lucky to just survive the encounter while the novel seems to assume that the characters will actually do some fightin'. I'm just glad that the interloper wasn't carrying the Necronomicon.
Anyway, it was a cute little adventure and got my attention better than a standard module would have.

Customer Reviews:
Frontier tales that place the reader in the action.......2006-03-27
I didn't know about Kent Kamron before I read this book; now that I do, his other work will be on my bookshelves soon. I enjoy a great Western tale, having read just about everything by Larry McMurtry and quite a few by Louis L'amour, Zane Grey and others. The Dime Novel Man, as a short fiction collection, ranks well with those masters. Kamron brings a fascinating period of our nation's history alive through individual encounters ranging from a frontier African-American schoolmarm, to a lone cattle hand, to one wounded scout trying to help his fellow recover his memories of an historical battle with the Sioux. Kamron writes excellent characters, well-paced action, and fine plots, and that's a combination that you can't beat on a slow, relaxing weekend. I don't read many books in a sitting; this one I did, and the time flew. Well done, Kamron; and well done Pocol Press for bringing his work to print.
A Powerful set of moralistic tales of The Old West.......2005-06-25
Out of North Dakota, where the frontier is still a fact of life, rides a storyteller who follows the trail of his neighbor, Louis L'Amour, bringing us a baker's dozen tales of western life without a miss-fire in the bunch. Kent Kamron has explored the hills and plains of the American West and knows well the men who settled there. The cavalryman, cowboy, mail-order bride, homesteader, Sioux warrior and schoolmarm, along with many other characters, inhabit this collection and bring the West to life.

Book Description
Screening the Los Angeles 'Riots' explores the meanings one news organization found in the landmark events of 1992, as well as those made by fifteen groups of viewers in the events' aftermath. Combining ethnographic and experimental research, Darnell M. Hunt explores how race shapes both the construction of television news and viewers' understandings of it. In the process, he engages with longstanding debates about the power of television to shape our thoughts versus our ability to resist.

Customer Reviews:
The Classic and Must Have.......2006-07-25
If you are new to Affiliate Marketing and got the job to manage your companies Affiliate Program or want to get this job, you should buy this book. It is also an item that should be in the library of a bigger company with a large in-house managed Affiliate Program as reference for new Employees but also for your Veterans.
Marketing and/or technical skills and background certainly help with the job as Affiliate Manager, but most important are communication skills and the knowledge about what makes affiliates "tick".
This book, although in certain areas a bit outdated, holds up as being the most comprehensive print work available to this day, with everything you need to know to start, manage and grow a successful Affiliate Program.
You will never get as much condensed knowledge and practical experiences made by the authors in one book for such a low price.
The only additional Item I can recommend is the just recently released product called "Affiliate Manager 1st Edition" which has a steep price tag but provides tons of video, audio and print material. Amazon does not carry it (yet) as I am writing this, but you can find it on the Internet.
You can't do anything wrong if you get both.
Past It's Prime.......2005-10-22
While there is some useful information in this book it is pretty outdated.
When it was released in 2001 I believe it was the definitive work on the subject.
However, now over 4 years later, most of the links to sites the book refer's to as resources you want to visit are now dead links.
If it was updated, and brought up to date with live links for the same subjects, maybe.
As is, a waste of time.
Excellent information but out of date.......2004-09-22
Not too many things change faster than the internet. This book is chock full of good information and it is the only serious book on the subject available. Please issue a new edition! It is a couple of years out of date, which is a lifetime in web years.
Excellent Resource for Affiliate Merchants.......2004-08-12
Well-written "How to" guide to building an affiliate program. A must read for new Internet entrepreneurs.
The Bible of Affiliate Marketing Books.......2004-01-17
If you're in the Affiliate business, or want to be, you must read this book. Can you become a priest without reading the Bible? Probably not. So why do you think you can be a successful Affiliate Marketer without reading THE book on the subject?
Since I'm in the Affiliate Marketing Industry, I carry this book around with me everywhere I go with my laptop and business cards, just in case I need a reference or idea. Albiet a bit outdated by now, it is still the definitive piece of material on the matter.
