This book was very helpful and was in easy-to-understand text. Sometimes health books can get too technical but this was in every day words. The only problem I had with it was it was published in 2001, so it is a little outdated.

This is a great book for information about weight loss surgery. I found it useful and it answers alot of questions you may have. It discusses all of the surgery options that are out there. It is a good source to have in your weight loss surgery library.

I've been doing extensive research on this surgery and have read most of the books out there. This is by far the best one, not only because of the information, but because of the excellent format. It is easy to find exactly what you're looking for. It contains diagrams and charts. It gives the reader a comprehensive look at the process and doubles as a handbook for patients as they have their surgeries and cope with post surgical issues. In other books, the reader has to wade through a lot of narrative or personal experience material; this one gives you the straight stuff. I highly recommend it.

A must read before, during and after surgery........2005-02-03

I've read many books on the subject of weight loss surgery and found this to be the most complete and informative. I am pre-surgery and this will be going with me to the hospital.

Morbidly Entertaining.......2005-12-07

Great read! Very entertaining and a revealing look at a strugling band. Not just any band , but Celtic Frost -(Metal Gods!) Tom gives us a look into the downside of music , the business side and how they have no clue as to how musicians think. They are right brain people , while creative people are left side, (I think thats how it goes?!)

Anyway , this band deserves more recognition and everyone who is into Heavy music or truelly alternative music should check them and this book out.

Alot of funny moments too. Highly entertaining!

Great Book!.......2003-10-31

This is a great book. The text is entertaining, but also heartwrenching as well due to the fact that CF worked so very hard at their craft, but did not receive the recognition and praise that they so deserved. Tom describes in great detail the ups and downs of trying to keep the band together while trying to increase the band's exposure and success. CF worked unbelievably hard on their music. Because CF's music was unique in that it was heavy, but also had so much more in terms of emotion, thought and purpose, it will forever be one of my favorite metal bands.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who was or is into metal. I now have a greater appreciation for all of the time, effort and sacrifice that CF put into their work. The text is well-balanced. Tom relates many funny and crazy incidents that go along with being on the road, but also provides a detailed account of the band's history and development.

A great account and real eye opener ..........2002-09-01

First of all I am honored to be writing the review after the great Tom Warrior Fischer ... I cannot believe it. I am 31 but still a huge fan!

The book is a great and easy read and I finished it in 2 days. Being familiar with the music and players names helped, but I think anyone unfamiliar with this might have a hard time "relating" ... so to speak. To me this book is like listening to a Director's Commentary on your favorite DVD. While it gives away a lot about the band and the logic and reasoning behind the creation of their records and the progression of the music throughout the years ... it took away some of the mystery and aura that has surrounded them.

I am not saying this is a detremental effect, but this is the effect that it has left on me. The road antics were great and the fact that Sir Fischer has always tried to stay the straight as an arrow path of being monogamous and keeping it in his pants ... was refreshing for a rock star story.

Looking forward to a much needed reunion and a great new album soon.

I love this book.......2002-06-09

Celtic Frost was/is a fantastic band. I watched them from the Hellhammer days(I love the apocalyptic raids e.p.) when Bernard Doe(metal forces Editor) said they were complete crap to rising up to the top of the heap of 80's thrash metal as Celtic Frost. This book portrays the rise and fall of a metal titan. Frost music was playing in my head as I read this. Tom's story had me shaking my head saying "I didnt know that happened" to Laughing out loud. Its got the usual parties girls and the such but it was great reading because I lived the the thrash metal movement and it just brings back great times when it was all about the music. Thanks Tom!

This is a perfect look back over the decades of Star Trek collectibles and toys. It is well organized. Fans of only one series may go directly there and concentrate on those items. General Trekkers will enjoy browsing throughout. It is amazing how many items are listed. It is hard to believe a book would be misjudged on the basis of one small line of items so far on the edge of the field! Get this book!

It's a good book but it's not a complete guide !.......2000-05-30

There are many collectibles listed in this book. Also there are good pictures and descriptions. However, some of the best Star Trek collectibles and memorabilia are the Star Trek Autographed Plaques/Items done by "THE SCORE BOARD, INC.", but unfortunately in this book there are not informations about them.

Perhaps the target audience for this book is absolute beginners and that's how I'm rating it. It's niether great nor bad for that level of reader. If you're looking for something more serious or professional then go with Tufte's books.

As a teacher of technical writing for many years, I've been looking for a book that gives the basics of how to organize and present information in a way that doesn't intimidate readers. This is the book! It is an easy read with a plethora of guidelines and practical suggestions so that even the novice can "do it." In addition, the author's warm and approachable tone makes this a fun and easy read. But it also presents a unique blending of information including how to do an audience analysis, adult learning theory for the information designer, basic page layout, color use guidelines and more. I am using it for my college Document and Information Design class, and the students love it!

I liked "Photoshop CS3 for Dummies" as a good overview text - then I use this "Photoshop CS3 All-in-one Reference for Dummies" as a detailed text on most of the heavy features of Photoshop. I was pretty good with Photoshop CS and all the versions of the program before - but I am learning a GREAT deal from this tome on the more sophisticated features.

I am a network administrator here in our university (U of Chicago). Most of the time when students asked me for help this is the first book I would consult, it gives the technical and the psychology of hands on computing in a Microsoft environment. All I can say is this book is a must for instructors and administrators who are responsible for novices!

Another typical Microsoft product.......2000-05-16

It seemed that Microsoft Press needed to fill many pages before publishing this book. It does do what it says, include info on how to get people into a help desk and what can be expected. It trains and gives ideas to the managers and I especially liked their grid on staffing the help desk and all the things to take into consideration.

Still, it lacked info, like what were the best ways to create a knowledge base for the help desk, it just kept mentioning that it was important and left it at that. And the websites as reference at the back of the book are not that hot. The CDs could be better also.

So in other words, it is a typical Microsoft product, something with great potential that does not live up to expectations but is expected to sell wonderfully because it has the Microsoft logo over it.

For the price of the book I was expecting some great tips and wisdom on help desk and support. Instead, the book only offered surface level information. Almost the last half of the book is a Resource Directory - Most, if not all, of this information can be found in simple web searches. To add insult to injury, the CD does not offer any usable templates or checklists.

Whether you are creating a technical help desk, customer service operation or enterprise effort, the Microsoft Sourcebook is the guide to follow. Detailed approaches and examples are given for all aspects of creating and managing a help desk operation. Helpful topics include ticket management, staff projections, and working with expert tier two teams. Many help desks use the job descriptions from the book when posting positions. A CD for the sample forms is very helpful.

Timeless tools.......2001-10-19

I came across this book only very recently, but wish I had seen it back when it was first published. This is one of the most visionary treatments of the whole area of IT management written by someone who has been in the trenches. Although some of the technology Chapters are slightly dated for the pure web play, the basic principles and tools are still spot-on and appropriate for IS consultants such as myself. I found the early Chapters - on organization, people, processes and strategic tools very relevant to problems I am asked to solve in assignments, also the ideas of architecture frameworks, event classification, and visualization are timeless.

Finally, I have found a comprehensive discussion of management processes and methodologies with relevance to architects, executives, middle-tier managers and engineers. I found the practical strategies discussed for dealing with such topics as process architecture, outsourcing and people issues to be well balanced and detailed. For a corporate architect/manager still trying to make sense of the new "Enterprise", this book provides an excellent theoretical and practical guide. This book is not necessarily for the .COM Enterprise manager, but will help senior Corporate IT professionals put some sanity back in the current management process.
