Your very own "Mini Lennon Museum".......2007-05-19

I love this book! Like a reviewer had already stated, it's like a portable Lennon museum-a mini Lennon museum of your own with everything from pictures to John's report cards.

This is also a more positive look at John Lennon - I'm sick of all the titillating tell all biographies on him that tend to be negative of his househusband years.

Celebrating Lennon's Life.......2005-08-29

Lennon Legend is not just another Lennon biography. In fact, it's hardly a biography at all. There is a basic, short and to-the-point Lennon life story, but with nothing new or surprising.

What Lennon Legend is, though, is a multi-media celebration. It comes with a CD of Lennon interviews, many of which were quite funny, with Lennon's personality seeping out of every one. Every page of the book is filled with photos, and though the majority of them are well known, it's still a great selection. But, the best part of the Lennon Legend is the removable Lennon memorabilia. On nearly every other page are reproductions of pieces of memorabilia from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (the author, James Henke is curently the curator of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). Childhood drawings, a report card, handwritten lyrics, Beatles paraphernalia, Bag One drawings, and more. This addition turned a coffee table book into a treasure. It is a bit pricey, but I felt it was fully worth it.

I should have been alive to see the 60s..........2005-03-08

if i had to name one band as my favorite, i couldn't do it. 60s music is so amazing to me, and this book about John Lennon has totally supported that opinion of mine. i am 18 but usually listen to "oldies." this book is incredible. it has the most random but so significant memorabilia in it, including a replicated Ed Sullivan Show ticket. it is so great, i bought it today, and i am enthralled with it. If you have any appreciation for 60s music at all, you will adore this book, i promise

IN JOHN'S LIFE.......2004-04-08

This is an outstanding biography of John Lennon.

This is a high caliber, comprehensive work that follows John Lennon's early years in Liverpool and the formation of the rock bands he founded until its final evolution as the Beatles. There are a plethora of good photographs and material that will captivate readers from Beatle experts to lay persons. This author has clearly done an excellent job of researching his material.

I liked this book a lot because it is about one of my favorite Rock 'N' Roll legends, John Lennon. Even though this book did not hold a lot of information there were still somethings I did not know about him in this book. He felt trapped into doing the movie Help! because the public expected him to do it.
This book is about John Lennon's life when he was with the Beatles, when he had his solo career, and also his 5 year year break from music to be a stay at home dad with his son Sean. This book tells about his struggles with drugs and his struggles with the Beatles. Also it talks about his and Yoko's life. Along with his wife before Yoko.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes the Beatles and/or John Lennon a lot.

Penelope wishes she were starting fifth grade with her best friend, Tim, who recently died of cancer. Surviving 5th Grade.......2006-10-22

While You Were Out is a great book for kids to read, especially those who have ever lost someone close to them. Can you imagine starting 5th grade without your best friend?
Penelope's best friend dies over the summer because of a type of cancer. Then to make matters worse, Penelope's own dad will be working in her school as the school JANITOR! All of this, plus the fact that she doesn't get to see her mother very often because her mom works at night, starts Penelope off to a rough start in 5th grade. Can she survive 5th grade?
As I read this book, I felt Penelope's sadness and understood her anger. Whether you have ever had someone close to you die or move away, kids of all character will enjoy this book.

This is possibly the start of DC Comics slowing integrating their Wildstorm line into a state that the properties there are usuable with their major properties, or in crossovers or other such capers.

The most powerful superbeing in the Wildstorm universe meets the most powerful superbeing in the DC universe and have a rather large clash of philosophies.

Guide to a Rising Area of Study.......2007-07-18

Dr. BJ Fogg has created a new area of study: captology, the study of computers as persuasive technologies. This book is an excellent introduction to this new field: it outlines the different arenas within the field, expands on its implications, and explores the ethical issues related to the topic.

As a student of Persuasive Technology at Stanford, I found this book to be extremely helpful in my understanding of the topic. It's very easy to read and understand and is not reminiscent of a text book at all. I recommend this book to everyone, whether you are an active researcher in the field or a civilian interested in seeing how technology can and will further change our lives.

Provides an excellent framework.......2007-04-10

I've been interested in the persuasive aspects of technology and design since I was in 4th grade, and online since 1983. While the title is "persuasive technology", the discussion is broader than many of us often think about technology. Professor Fogg lays out a clear framework for considering how the products we use influence us, and how to design products which are more persuasive. I'm currently working with a number of organizations improving the process of civic engagement, and find myself frequently referring to concepts from the book. The book has become an indispensable tool. Thank you Professor Fogg.

A helpful guide for Public Health professionals .......2007-04-10

Persuasive Technology is a must read for any technology or public health professional attempting to build a framework for using technology to influence behavior change, particularly for someone attempting to build one for the first time.

B.J. Fogg shares his experience in an easy to understand writing style that is both interesting and practical. He demonstrates the potential for using persuasive technologies while also providing a framework that helps bring order to this vast and rapidly changing subject area.

An experienced telecommunications product development professional and MPH candidate, I have recently been researching the options and considerations for applying technology to Public Health; this book provided immediate context and perspective on the environment, undoubtedly saving me much time and effort.

Given my bias as a product development professional, an unexpected but pleasant surprise was the series of principles defined throughout and substantiated by specific research or commercial examples (also summarized in the appendix for easy reference). By synthesizing his conclusions through these principles, Fogg shares his experience in a practical manner that makes it easy to integrate his insights into the development process, to help profile strategies, screen concepts, and stimulate ideas. I expect most of these principles will hold true, regardless how technology and applications evolve.

Hopefully we will see more on the subject from BJ Fogg and his Persuasive Technology lab; more observations on the use of mobile applications would be of particular interest to this reader.

Misleading book.......2005-12-03

This seems to be a converted thesis to book, not the worst job but certainly without much effort. I'm not surprised its not in stock.

A landmark book -- Let it open your eyes to the future........2005-04-24

This book changed me. I have started to view my experiences using computers in new ways. I have to admit that Fogg is right: Most computing experiences -- especially those online -- are designed to influence us in some way. At first this really bothered me. But then I accepted persuasive technology as a growing reality and began to be a smarter user.

While website designers will likely find "Persuasive Technology" most useful, I think this book should be a required text in college courses on literacy, such as freshman English. The book is easy to understand yet insightful. And I say it's a matter of literacy because understanding how web sites and computers influence is a critical form of literacy today and into the future.

I found the book somewhat lacking in one respect. Fogg devotes only one chapter to the impact of cell phones and mobile devices. I wanted more. This is a small critique. On the whole this book is terrific. It brings together information I've never seen elsewhere (and I read a lot). I believe everyone who cares about technology or our emerging society should pay attention to this important work.
