Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
Chicago has always had a reputation as a "wide open town" with a high tolerance for gangsters, illegal liquor, and crooked politicians. It has also been the home for countless black musicians and the birthplace of a distinctly urban blues-more sophisticated, cynical, and street-smart than the anguished songs of the Mississippi delta-a music called the Chicago blues. This is the history of that music and the dozens of black artists who congregated on the South and Near West Sides. Muddy Waters, Big Bill Broonzy, Howlin' Wolf, Elmore James, Tampa Red, Little Walter, Jimmy Reed, Otis Rush, Sonny Boy Williamson, Junior Wells, Eddie Taylor-all of these giants played throughout the city and created a musical style that had imitators and influence all over the world.

chicago blues, the people who made music, their story.......2007-08-21
one of the best on the subject, a classic standing on its own, many cds sleeve notes and other publications have as their source the stories and information in its pages,Highly Recommended Some books have a built in obsolessence in them as time goes by, this book as all the best works on a given subject will never be less than essential.
Good, but could and should have been Great.......2005-07-03
This is an important book for Blues fans, but it had the opportunity to be so much more in terms of size and detail, as most of the artists mentioned in this book were still alive at its initial publish date in 1973. Though many of the artists are quoted, it appears from the skimpy Source section in Chicago Blues that most of the quotes were obtained from Blues Unlimited magazine or from Mike Leadbitter's book, Nothing But The Blues, which also sources Blues Unlimited.
If author Mike Rowe actually had gone to Chicago, Memphis and various cities in Mississippi to personally interview the artists in this book, Chicago Blues would still be the definitive book on Chicago Blues today. Sadly, all but a handful of the artists referenced in this book are deceased today, thus rendering it impossible for another author to attempt to document first and second hand accounts of the shaping of Blues music in Chicago. Rowe may never have intended this book to be the definitive piece on Chicago Blues music, so it may be a bit unfair of me to chastise him for not taking advantage of the availability of the artists and presenting a greater work.
In addition to my disappointment of what this book could have been, I take exception with some of Rowe's artist assessments. He incorrectly dismisses Billy Boy Arnold as only an "average talent" and tends to gloss over those with exceptional talent. Blues music was at a dreary point in the early 70s and combined with Rowe's personal biases towards or against artists, influenced the tenor of this book.
Though Chicago Blues has its shortcomings, I am going to order a second copy as my 20 year old copy is worn.
Very imformative reading.......2000-12-06
This book is one of those 'text' books that reads well. It isn't really a text book but it contains more information about Chicago Blues than I have found in a single book anywhere else. It covers the standard demographic changes and other things that lead to the development of the music, but then it walks you through the artists, big and small, the different labels, big and small. From Muddy Waters to Mighty Joe Young, Chess to Jax. Also included are billboard rating charts, and a very comprehensive discography by artist. The only limitaion I found was that it does not cover the more modern artists, leaving off around the mid seventies. For someone who loves blues and wants to know more, this is a great guidebook for a journey though a great musical tradition.

Book Description
A skeptic by nature, a writer and teacher more at home with ballpoint pens than computer programs, Dinty W. Moore wanted to find out for himself if the much-touted Internet and the electronic culture it has spawned is really going to be the Next Big Thing, or whether it's the emperor's new clothes. This is not a how-to guide, a giddy net-head's online magical mystery tour, or a binaries-in-the-sky futurist treatise. Instead, this book tells it like it is about the Internet. Anyone who's asked, Who's there? What am I missing? and What is it all about? will find Moore's good-natured skepticism a welcome break from the explosion of wide-eyed techno-hype raging all around us. "Moore is far and away the best pure writer of the 'Wired School.' He's like the Stage Manager poking his head in around the set of 'Our Town.' Funny that it took the arrival of this commonsensical outsider to finally put a real human face on the digital world."--San Jose Mercury-News.
Customer Reviews:
Definitely not a time waster.......2000-08-10
I enjoyed going back to 1994 and reading about the advent of some of our now routine virtual lives. Mr. Moore has a delightful way of telling a story, whether about Usenet (heavy in this book) or electronic mail, or the new thing called the World Wide Web. I think this is an excellent quick trip through "where we've been" and I highly recommend it to anyone who takes the internet seriously or as a career.
I wrote to Mr. Moore shortly after I read the book to see if he was planning a follow-up tome. He said he was not, but if he does, I'll be in line to buy it shortly after publication.
History with a sense of humor.
Outdated and fairly useless.......2000-05-31
If you're on amazon.com, odds are you don't need this book. It's outdated, and I can't imagine it was very useful even when it was current. Moore seems to utterly miss the point of most of the internet, and the fact that his "research" is concentrated in the insular world of USENET only makes his view narrower. The only entertaining parts of the book are 1) the cover, and 2) his utter incomprehension of cybersex and "how to do it". But neither of those are worth purchasing the book for. Go for "Cyberville" or "My Tiny Life" instead.
Intelligent look at Internet Community.......1999-06-03
The author captured an intelligent snapshot of internet culture and community as it began to take hold in the mid to late 1990s. A fun, easy read.
Chinese Edition.......1998-07-16
From Dr. Liu Huajie
Preface for Hebei University Publishing House Edition
Even faster than predicted, the Internet is growing. In the United States, an estimated 60 million people are now using the Internet to shop, to socialize, to work, and to do research. This is nearly double the number of people who were using the Internet four years ago.
But the Internet is no longer simply a United States phenomenon. Equally amazing and exciting is the rapid growth of the Internet across the globe, from Europe to Africa to Asia. Four years ago it seemed everyone on the Internet was speaking English - now it is becoming a true world community.
I am especially excited to see China beginning to establish an Internet presence. I think the future of China and of China's relationship to the United States will be made better by this new technology, if people use it well.
It will be interesting, however, to see if Asian countries face some of the same prob! ! lems and confusions that Americans have faced. While my understanding is that Chinese users rely on the Internet and e-mail more for research and business than for fun and friendship, I suspect that social and entertainment uses will become more common.
This book is very much about the 'social' and 'human' side of Internet use - how conversations by e-mail differ from conversations when two people are in the same room, how making 'virtual' friends on the internet is different than becoming friends with someone you meet on the street. Is a community of friends who only meet through the computer a true community? Will our computer friends become more important to us than the people who live nearby to us in our towns and villages? As more people in China access the Internet, more of them will explore these same questions.
Americans have been both excited by the Internet and the wealth of knowledge and information that is available, and frightened by the rapid change! ! . Many people worry that there is too much information on ! the Internet, more than anyone could ever use, some of it unreliable or dangerous. Some worry too that the use of e-mail and electronic discussion is breaking down the common bonds that unite people, that electronic friendships are not as strong as face-to-face relationships. Some worry that too much time spent in front of the computer and not enough time out in nature is bad for the human spirit. I am sure users in China will have some of these same questions too.
I teach university classes in the United States, and when I ask young American students what excites them the most about the Internet, they often say "talking to people my age in other countries." Wouldn't it be interesting if American students and Chinese students were in regular daily conversations, not just about world events, but about music and sports?
Some have predicted that the Internet is way to world peace. I suspect this view is an exaggeration, but I do hope that the increased e! ! ase of communication that comes with Internet use will help people from China and the United States -- and people from all countries on the planet - to understand one another better, and to focus on what we have in common more than what sets us apart.
Dinty W. Moore, May 1998
well-written, humorous Internet primer.......1995-08-04
From Library Journal: Moore mischeviously lays bare some revered 'net features
such as MUSHS, digital relationships, and e-mail, and, in a hilarious encounter
he poses as a female and attempts to have cybersex. Still Moore has some good
things to say about virtual communities. This (is a) well-written,
humorous primer.

"Lucy, you got some splainin' to do!" Fans of comedic genius Lucille Ball and mambo king Desi Arnaz won't want to miss I Love Lucy, the complete compendium to one of the most popular TV shows in history. Beginning with an introduction by their daughter, Lucie Arnaz, the text follows a thorough chronological outline of her parents' careers. Almost overwhelming in detail, the book contains synopses of the show's six seasons and 179 episodes, as well as telling tidbits about cast members, family, and friends. For example, the show helped heal Vivian Vance: "When she accepted the role of Ethel Mertz, she would later admit that, along with her continuing analysis, [the show] was what had provided her with the glue she needed to keep her alive and her mental health intact." More than just a collection of '50s factoids, I Love Lucy is an insightful, loving tribute to one of the most loved duos in broadcasting history.
Book Description
This fascinating collection details the saga of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, one of the most talked-about couples of the 20th century, and recounts the entire history of a show whose profound impact on North American and worldwide television culture is still being felt in countless, hilarious and heartfelt ways today.

Through McClay You Get the Complete Picture.......2003-08-14
AMAZING!! This is one of the best books written about "I Love Lucy." Michael McClay certainly knew what he was doing when he gave us this great book on the best show in picture history. Through many pictures (many in color) and words, McClay is able to tell you ALL about "I Love Lucy" and the great people that made it so great. He tells not only about the people at the time of the show, but gives, not much but accurate, information about the four wonderful people that made the show so successful before and after the shows were made. He gives you thirty-five classic episodes that are the hits in the "I Love Lucy" shows. And also a TV-ography of the 179 "I Love Lucy" shows in the order that they went on the air. And the "I Love Lucy" Theme Song music given at the beginning of the three parts that are in this book has been played many times on my piano.
This is truely the best book there is on the show "I Love Lucy" (but no "I Love Lucy" book can beat Lucille Ball's book "Love, Lucy;" it covers her whole life as well as the "I Love Lucy" shows.Get that one too because both are both greatly recommended). Some books don't give very much or very accurate information on this show. But this one gives you all of the information, accurately, about the show.
I greatly encoutrage you top get this book especially if you are a Lucy fan (and if you are not, reading this book will give you a great start). You will NOT be disappionted. You will have too much trouble putting it down that when you finish it, you will want to read it again--you will never get tired of it. Get yours TODAY and you WILL enjoy!
A Great I Love Lucy Book!!!.......2003-07-21
Through Michael McClay, we can have a wonder picture of one of the best shows on TV. Through MANY pictures (a lot in color) and words, we can learn how these four greatly made this show: I Love Lucy. The book takes you through all of their lives before, during and after the show. Three parts are in this facinating book; one is about the show. Everybody Loves Lucy.......2002-09-15
Who doesn't LOVE Lucy? This book is THE definitive guide for all us die-hard, lifelong, Lucy fans. It is chock full of facts, anecdotes, black and white and colour photos, etc. By far, the most comprehensive book on the series I have ever read. Introduced by daughter, Lucie Arnaz, we are taken down memory lane and even allowed BACKSTAGE where we get glimpses of the REAL life Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Strictly for the fans, who will understand and appreciate the attention to detail here.

Great Gift For A Lucy Fan.......2002-08-12
This beautiful book introduced me to the world of "I Love Lucy" literature, and I must say I got off on the right foot! The photographs are beautiful, and the text is surprisingly thorough for a "picture history". This would make an enjoyable addition to anyone's Lucy collection (it's also a great place to start!).

Great Book for Those Who Love Lucy!.......2007-02-09
I don't know what book that other reviewer had, because I have a totally different opinion! Great info on the greatest television show ever. Episode guide, history of the show & its stars, plus loads of terrific photos. Okay, so it's not an intellectual experience into the deeper meaning of Lucy - that's not what I bought it for!
Great information on "I Love Lucy".......2007-01-10
Great book for any fan of the show "I Love Lucy". Gives a detailed looked at each episode and behind the scenes tidbits. A must for any Lucy fan!
Worst book I ever read!.......2006-08-06
This is the worst book ever written! It's obvious the author doesn't know what he is writing about. Not only that, this book is poorly written and contains no real information. The more you read, the more you wonder why you are reading. Where is this book taking me? What is the point of this book?
There is no point. Absolutely no point at all. It appears the author is merely trying to benefit from the fame of a dead Hollywood actress. If Lucy only knew!
I spent three hours with this book and it saddens me that I'll never get those three hours back. I also hope this book was printed on recylcled paper because it would be a real shame if a tree gave up its life for this.
Needless to say, I do not recommend this book to anyone.

Learning OneNote.......2007-05-13
I have to learn the use of this product well enough to be able to teach it to the workers in the offices for which I do technical support. I like this book because it presents the material in a way easy to understand and provides real life type examples that I can relate to. I want to model the lessons that I prepare after this.
Book Description
If you've ever transferred handwritten notes to electronic documents, you know how awkward it can be--figuring out the scrawls in the margin, inputting the pertinent information, shuffling through sheaves of paper to find a missing note. There's nothing efficient about that! Enter Microsoft's OneNote note-taking software and this handy Visual QuickStart Guide. With an interface that resembles a tabbed notebook, Microsoft's brand-new software mimics pen-and-paper-based note-taking--but brings a whole new level of efficiency to the process. Single notes can contain both typed characters and handwriting (say lecture notes and a hand-drawn graph); you can input text anywhere on a page; you can drag in text and pictures from Web sites; and there are a variety of options for organizing, formatting, searching, and accessing notes--all of which are explained in friendly, concise fashion in these pages. You'll also find chapters on using OneNote with Microsoft Office apps and tablet PCs as well as plenty of tips and visual aids.
Customer Reviews:
A solid introduction to OneNote 2003.......2007-03-14
Microsoft OneNote 2003 is a surprisingly rich application. And this entry in the Visusal QuickStart Guide series, which is typically above average, maintains the series' reputation. It is a concise, profusely illustrated guide to the basics of OneNote. Whether it delves deeply enough into the application might be a matter of individual opinion, but the book will certainly take you way past the starting the point.
Some of the directions are a bit too terse, but still get the point across.
The nicest part of the Visual QuickStart Guide series is that they are generally free of fluff and this one is no exception.
Overall, a pretty good introduction to Microsoft OneNote 2003.
Jerry
Very QuickStart.......2005-10-16
This book is rather short but I guess that is by design. a Long book would not really be a QUICK start. It covered the basics though.
better than a Newton.......2005-01-24
OneNote might remind you of earlier efforts to make tablet PCs, or Apple's ill-fated Newton of ten years ago. Here, Microsoft is following a familiar pattern of waiting for a field to shake out and settle down, before introducing its product.
The book shows OneNote as having nice usability. Integrating the capture of handwritten notes with text and diagrams is pretty neat. No big surprises in innovation are revealed. The accessibility of the information that you store is also important, and well done. There are simple shortcuts, like opening the notebook at the last page you were looking at.
