A Very Usable Hymnal.......2007-06-11
I play the piano in church, and this hymnal offers some easier-to-play versions of some of the favorite hymns. I especially like their version of "His Eye Is on the Sparrow" and "I'd Rather Have Jesus". It's also larger print and offers a huge selection. I'm very thankful that I found this hymnal.

The Best Keeps Getting Better---but don't purchase this edition........2005-09-15
Don't get me wrong---this is a great hymnal, published in 1997 (which is very new in the "hymnbook world"). But this edition is the "Worship Resource Edition". It's too expensive (the list price from WORD (the publisher) is only $9.95 for the "PEW" edition, which comes in 9 colours (including blue, red, brown, gray, midnight blue, berry, teal, ivory, and burgundy). How do I know? I've been in church music for over 35 years. Just completed 25 years with one of America's largest evangelical churches as their associate music director. I'm now Music Director at a very new church and we just purchased a few hundred copies of this hymnal. This is also one of the few hymnbooks to include (as an $90. optional item) a wonderful "Worship Planner Edition" which has each hymn in miniature along with medley options, suggested tempo, and a log for recording dates. I have done much searching for a great book of traditional hymns which also includes the newer "worship and praise" songs. Granted, the 1997 date does leave out many newer selections, but if you are strictly into the "Integrity/Hosanna" series, I'd suggest the "Praise and Worship Fakebook" published in 2003 by Brentwood/Benson (they have a website). Of interest to hymn lovers, there is a new hymnal being published in January of 2006 by "Hendrickson Publishers". I'm sticking with WORD and "The Celebration Hymnal" because it is fully orchestrated and I have used "The Hymnal for Worship and Celebration" which they published in 1986 (on which this is based). Lastly, the PEW Edition is also available with several different Scripture (Bible) versions including "King James Version", "New King James", and I believe the "New International Version". I'm sure many folks never realized a simple hymnbook could have so many options---of such is the times we live.
I've been a fan of Amazon.com for years, but I'm going to break formation on this one item with apologies to the wonderful folks at Amazon. You will have to order the PEW edition (and everything else connected to this item) from your local Christian Bookstore or visit the website at: celebrationhymnal.com for a list of local dealers (you might try Christian Book Distributors as well at [...]) .
Please be sure you are getting what you pay for.......2005-01-28
I have tried to purchase the hymnal that is listed. However, I received the pew edition. The ISBN# listed is for the Worship Resource Edition. Retail on this edition is $49.95. Retail price of the pew edition is only $9.95. Please make sure that you are getting what you pay for. I have not found a single vendor to date who can verify that what they are listing is the Worship Resource Edition. If you are a vendor and have the Worship Resource Edition (it has it written on the front cover, comes in black and has many additional resources inside), please make a specific reference and I will be happy to purchase the correct hymnal.
Still Impressive, But Seven Years Can Be a Long Time . . ........2004-01-24
THE CELEBRATION HYMNAL: SONGS AND HYMNS FOR WORSHIP is an outstanding example of the subgenre (perhaps one can now say dominant genre) of hymnal: the "private-market" hymnal not owned or distributed by any particular Protestant denomination or affiliation like, say, the United Methodists or Disciples of Christ. CELEBRATION is extraordinarily well-bound. It is durable. The pew version, as opposed to the choral/long-term format marketed above, is quite cheap by today's standards--I paid $9.95 for mine off-the-shelf in its seventh major release just two years ago.
The hymnal is also extraordinarily user-friendly, with "doodads" such as each hymn in the alphabetic index of hymns showing its key signature--therefore eliminating the need for one more cross-check. CELEBRATION is totally a hymnbook, not a service book, but its 818 entries include non-sung worship elements such as biblical responsive readings and other relevant texts. (Of course, this means that the book does not contain eight-hundred eighteen hymns, but I'd guesstimate it still has at least 600--quite bumptious even by today's standards.)
Further practicality and user-friendliness is evidenced by the hymnal's occasional ventures into conjoined hymns, by means of tasteful and subtle key-change modulations and other connective music. CELEBRATION's ancestorship to the beloved WORD hymnal of 1986 is apparent here--truly the small church's delight, as it gives the organist and choir access to a folio's worth of joyful and triumphant mini-festivals of sacred music without additional cost to the church budget.
The only reason I'm giving this sturdy songbook a mere four-star rating is relative to its competitive context, as it debuted early during the second Clinton Administration as opposed to the newer ones released during George W. Bush's incumbency: Christian Publications' VOICES IN WORSHIP (June, 2003), for example. Partly by choice or accident, and partly because such tunes weren't quite so much a part of the ambient white Protestant church culture seven years ago, CELEBRATION does not include hymns or songs such as "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing," "In The Bleak Midwinter," "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence," "I Wonder As I Wander," "Pentecostal Power," or "Help Us Accept Each Other." CELEBRATION does, though, include "I Heard the Bells On Christmas Day" and "O Canada," the former a personal favorite (;) and the latter a signifier that Word/Integrity is no stranger to the world of modern marketing.
THE CELEBRATION HYMNAL is still, and deserves to be, quite a force. But so are some of its more recent competitors. I'd also include among the flock of newcomers--quite sincerely--HERITAGE from GIA publishers in Bedford Park (suburban Chicago), Illinois. Though African-American themed in terms of liturgy, along with its healthy admixture of gospel tunes it is huge in content, a treasure-trove of Americana, admirable to all.
I like to keep abreast of this particular area. Any recommendations? smalling_60626@yahoo.com
Celebration Hymnal.......2002-08-02
This Hymnal is a blessing that never stops blessing. There are sequences of choruses and hymns combined with calls to worship that are quite well selected for a variety of themes.
I love this hymnal!.......2000-02-10
The collection of songs range from very old, traditional, liturgical, spirituals, to contemporary, new praise songs. Medleys of old and new songs give great examples of blended worship. Scripture readings are included in worship sequences with appropriate songs. Indexes have songs listed by key and meter. songs are also grouped by theme. The Hymnal for Celebration and Praise is very similar, except all the scripture readings are in a section in the back. It also doesn't have some of the newer songs contained in the Celebration Hymnal. I also really like the additional transition line of music they have included inbetween songsthey have put in sequence. This hymnal is a joy to use.

Product Description
The television series that premiered in January 1971 had a short run of only three seasons but its popularity is in inverse proportion to its time on the air. Its fifty episodes were enough to garner fans that have remained loyal to the show for thirty years. Alias Smith and Jones: The Story of Two Pretty Good Bad Men showcases the episodes and provides a behind-the-scenes look at one of the last of televisions popular westerns.

Good chronicle of one of the best TV programs of the 1970s.......2007-07-09
This book reviews and chronicles every aspect of "Alias Smith and Jones", which, in my opinion, was one of the best television programs of the 1970s. The authors document each episode, include interviews of the stars and production staff and give an insight to the filming of the program.
I enjoyed immensely and will refer back to it when (hopefully) Universal Studios releases the second and third seasons on DVD. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the stars and the televison program.
The Full Story.......2007-05-26
Thick book plenty to read, but no coloured photos a few b & w pics.Tells about the making of the show and death of Pete Duel very interesting readingwhorth the money.
Not much Pete Duel in this book.......2007-02-23
This book is about half summaries of the episodes, which are superfluous if you have the episodes on tape.
The biggest problem is the relative lack of information on Pete Duel, whose portrayal of "Hannibal Heyes" was the backbone of the show's appeal. Upper management of AS&J gets plenty of opportunity to tell the story of Duel's death their way, and Duel comes off as a trouble-maker whom no one could help but like anyway. Not fair to him at all and just too bad. I can only guess that the authors became dazzled by their access to "insiders" and forgot what they owed the one person who cannot speak up and defend himself.
Great Read.......2007-01-10
Great insight into a wonderful but short lived show. Lots of behind the scenes information that you can't find anywhere else. For Alias Smith and Jones fans, this is a must!

Excellent Characters, Wonderful Story!!.......2003-02-18
Analiese Tremaine may look and act like your typical "blonde," but she is anything but.... When Ana's brother goes missing she decides that she will be the one to re-trace his steps and try to find him before his cover is blown. She hacks into his computer and finds a trail that leads to Jones.
Jones takes one look at "Ann" and decides she's trouble, but money does talk and he's pretty low on funds. He can't help but watch out for her because he thinks she's ditzy. The run together through the jungle, climb down cliffs and sail home on a garbage barge....all for Sam Tremaine....
This story is wonderfully written by Kylie Brant. In a world where the series romance can sometimes become lackluster, her story shines through. I highly enjoyed the interaction with Jones and Ana...he's stoic and she's sassy...wonderful by-play between them all through the story! You can't miss this one!
Heart throbbing intensity -- Very highly recommended.......2003-01-12
Acting as a courier gives Analiese Tremaine's life a bit of a thrill, but nothing like the dangerous missions her brothers pursue. But when brother Sam goes missing, Analiese assumes a new identity, Ann Smith, and follows a name in her brother's files to a reclusive man known only as Jones. Unfortunately, painful memory and betrayal has driven Jones into a self appointed life of seclusion, and he does not welcome Ann's intrusion.
For five years Jones has been out of the business, making a living running charters and finding sex in the arms of women who expect nor more than he does. Ann's attempt to charter his boat irritates him, especially when she manipulates a booking into going someone else. Soon he finds his good sense overridden by a need to protect her from peril that send them into plunging into a jungle adventure that promises life-threatening danger.
Author Kylie Brant once again proves her ability to create an intriguing romance filled with extreme intensity in ALIAS SMITH AND JONES. These finally realized characters come vividly alive as Ann refuses to allow Jones' difficult nature to thwart her self-appointed mission to find her brother. Indeed, years of dodging her over protective brothers prepare her well for the irascible Jones. Further, Ann's powder puff surface conceals of woman of surprising depth and resiliency; something Jones will learn the hard way. A fast paced plot guaranteed to keep the blood pounded and tension on high, ALIAS SMITH AND JONES comes very highly recommended.
Fast paced action!.......2003-01-03
When I first started this book, I almost gave up. Ana came across as just a little too naive, and it was almost painful to read her first interactions with Jones. Boy am I glad I persevered! The book really took off, with a lot of action set at a good pace. Ana's most saving grace is her glib remarks to the stoic Jones and the fact that is able to take care of herself. I would highly recommend this book, and will be adding this author to my favorites list.
This author ROCKS!.......2002-12-26
Sam Tremaine lived a covert life. Everyone believed him to be an international lawyer, even his family ... or so he thought.
When Sam disappeared for over two weeks, Analiese, his sister, went searching for him. The family business was named Tremaine Technoligies and it handled some of the United States government's most sensitive orders. Analiese was one of the best in the tech world. Even Sam's encrypted files were not safe from Ana if she chose to look at them. Ana had known for years about Sam's covert career. Sam, however, did not know that Ana had been running as a courier for his contact, Sterling, for over two years thus far.
Ana tracked her brother to Laconos, a country that had recently undergone some major changes in its government. Sam's files mentioned using a particular charter service from Bontilla owned by a man listed only as "Jones". She began her hunt there.
Jones owned the ship named the Nefarious. The lady calling herself Ann Smith reeked of trouble. Figuring she was an island-hopping rich girl, and him needing the commission, he agreed to take her to Laconos and show her the beaches. Ann seemed to attract trouble. He found himself trying to protect her from the corrupt government and its military. Not an easy task considering she kept ditching him to see the island's nightlife. Jones could not even figure out why he cared. What she did was none of his business. Besides, the less she was around him, the less chance she would figure out his secrets.
***** This story has as many secrets as a James Bond movie. The main characters were constantly snooping, spying, and getting into dangerous scenarios. Author Kylie Brant did an excellent job of pairing this couple off and made the entire plot seem believable. The book is first of a short series, but has closure. Seems each Tremaine sibling will get a story. I, for one, am glad to know that because this book left me breathless for more. I eagerly look forward to May release! *****

Customer Reviews:
A Waste of Ink.......2007-06-01
If you're a fan of the TV series and are expecting a continuation of the storyline, forget these books. Brian Fox completely ignored any and all facts that were laid out in the series and ruined these great characters with his below average writing.
While reading his first book I was willing to cut him some slack because it was published the same year the series began and I assumed he just didn't have certain details available to him. "Trick Shot", however, was published in 1976, three years after the series ended and all character details were available to him. It appears he didn't own a television and had no knowledge of the series and didn't bother to do any research.
These books are beyond disappointing. If you are a fan of the show, go online and read the fan fiction stories written by fans of the show over the past 34 years. Most are far better than anything this author produced.

Customer Reviews:
The titles of the book and exam match! What else do you need?.......2007-04-09
Read this book, pass this test.
As far as being a reference for this information without regard to the certification, I like it.
It is well written and makes sense. I have several other certifications (MCSE NTv3.51 '97 through CCIE '00 and CCVP '06) and this book works as well or better than the books I had for those certifications.
If you don't mind an electronic copy, the PDF of this book has been made available without cost on Juniper's web site.
Excelent book for network engineers.......2005-08-17
It is very suitable book for JNCIS candidates. You need deep network knowledge before read it. JNCIA study guide is a good supplement. To pass an exam own hands-on experience with JN routers is very helpful.
A good supplemental reference.......2004-10-19
I got this book after I had already passed my JNCIS, but I still find it very valuable. I used it to help strengthen my understanding of JUNOS and the networking topics I was weak in. This book is a great supplement to the JUNOS reference materials available online which so often tell you vaguely what a command does, but don't give you any context for why you might need to use it. It provides good examples and gives good descriptions of what is going on and shows how to verify behavior with the CLI. I like to carry the CD with my laptop for reference.
The book assumes that the reader has at least a JNCIA level of experience, so it skips most of the introductory topics such as CLI and hardware architecture covered in the JNCIA guide. Although I think that a person could pass the JNCIS if they just studied this book very well, it would be much easier if they have some basic knowledge and experience with Juniper M and T series routers (at least at the "JNCIA level").
A good preparation guide.......2004-07-01
This book does a good job of explaining the different networking topics in a simple and clear manner. The topics covered in the book are comprehensive and more than sufficient to prepare the reader for the JNCIS test.
The book also has enough details to serve as a useful networking reference guide for readers who has already passed the JNCIS exam.
Solid Prep Material.......2004-06-29
Comprehensive, clear and accurate coverage of all areas of the JNCIS exam. Complicated subjects are discussed in depth, with explanatory diagrams and sample configurations.
Topics range from a demonstration of how OSPF calculates routes, with a sideline discussion of the new standard Graceful Restart to splitting multicast traffic onto different links than unicast traffic in a network that carries both types of traffic.
There is coverage of items that seem to often come up in Juniper study discussions, such as the differences between Martini and Compella layer 2 VPNs, for example, as well as example scenarios and sample configurations that show you how to get them working in your lab or in real life.
If you want to do some serious studying, and are willing to put the time and effort in, this book will help you pass the JNCIS exam.
