We have worn ours out. Due to the fact that billboard changed their rating system ( several charts hip-hop - country - adult contemp. ), anything after 1999 gets a little confusing.
Floodgates of fantasy.......2007-07-04
When the Telecom Act of 1996 was passed, the floodgates opened for Corporations to begin buying radio stations with no limit. Prior to 1996, limitations had been in place since the Telecom Act of 1934 that only allowed 40 stations to be owned nationally by a single ownership. On came Clear Channel, Citadel, Cumulus, Entercomm radio and others. Clear Channel Communications at it's peak owned 1230 commercial radio stations. With these new 'national' chains of radio, the aspect of national playlists instead of 'local' playlists became the norm. No longer could individual record companies call on radio stations to promote their product. Hit songs became a thing of the past. By hit songs we're talking a universal definition of amazing lyric sung to an amazing melody over an engaging rhythm track. Unfortunately, the Radio and Records charts and the Billboard Charts came to represent specifically which record company spent the most money promoting their records to radio and buying spins. With exclusive deals set-up with independent record promoters, Corporate radio ownerships were able to turn every minute of every day into what the industry deems 'NTR' or 'non-traditional revenue'. The songs became paid advertisements as well as the commercials aired. The indie promoters and corporate owners of radio negotiated these deals to get paid annual fees to add records to the playlists of the radio stations. Getting airplay was as simple as paying and if you didn't pay, you didn't get airplay. Illegal overnight spin schemes and host of other 'payola' type of exchanges became the norm. No longer were DJs, or music directors or program directors the targets of such 'payola' nonsense, but now corporate radio took the money directly. Across the boards, with national playlists, accruing a certain number of spins for a record became easy and predictable. Manipulation of the charts simple.
My point is this, whereas Joel Whitburn's book used to be a useful reference, with the current situation- who cares? The past 11 years of information in this publication is complete fantasy. Don't waste your money or time with this.

This is a perfect way to settle musical arguments. I think Ive broken the record for being wrong. I owned a previous printing of this, lent it to a friend, and...well, had to buy a new copy. As Stan Lee would say "Nuff Said".
Great reference for chart geeks.......2007-04-03
This is a must-have for any chart geek. All artists that charted on the Top 40 of the Hot 100 singles list are listed alphabetically, with info on most artists, accompanied by a chronological list of singles released, with release date, peak chart position, number of weeks on chart, gold/platinum status if applicable, the number of weeks at #1 or #2, and even the record label and number. If the song was a crossover hit (if it hit #1 on any other Billboard chart), there is a notation under the song.
After the artists is a list of songs in alphabetical order. This is helpful if you know the name of the song but not the performer(s).
The final section is the chart geeks dream. It lists top record holders: Top 100 Hits of the Rock Era, Top 25 #1 hits by decade, Top 100 Artists, Top 25 Artists by Decade, and many more.

Wow...so many memories. What was most shocking was the number of "classics" that failed to even crack the top 20. Its hard to believe that CCR never had a number one hit. This was great fun...took me back to the days of American Top 40 with Casey Kasum.

Want to know how many Top 40 hits Connie Smith or Red Sovine had? Where those their real names? What were their hometowns? How many Top 40 songs did Tammy have with George? How often and by which artists did "I Take the Chance" make the charts? (Answers below!). Compiler Whitburn has produced the ultimate toy for country music lovers. Also included is each chart hit, singer by singer, song by song. There is an alphabetical listing of each hit, showing who recorded them and another menu of the Top 100 singles going back to 1944. Readers will learn the Top Artists according to decade and all #1 songs cataloged chronologically. Plus more! What is not to like? This reviewer has found the listings for each artist VERY helpful in deciding to buy CDs. We all know some compilations are better than others. Armed with Whitburn's information, one can tell how many tracks on a given album made it in the world and which fizzled. Apparently this gem is only available as "used". I would not hesitate. Amazon does a good job on used books. Whitburn belongs on the shelf of any serious country fan-or any who would like to be. In as much as this book is out of print and I don't actually have it... I am looking for a book or series of books that give the actual weekly charts (Top 40) for all Country hits from 1944 to now. I highly recommend this book to any fan of the music genres charted in Billboard's R&B Top 40. If you grew up on music like this, it's perfect for review during the years when you were in school--no matter if it was back in the 40s, 60s, 90s or 00s. You'll be surprised of all the music you have forgotten, you'll then find yourself looking for it to bring back fond memories.
If, like me, you grew up during Hip-Hop's baby years (early 80s to early 90s), some great jams didn't make the top 40. Keep in mind that Hip-Hop from that period was not fully appreciated until recently, and Billboard recognized mostly Pop-Rap that crossed over like "Parents Just Don't Understand", "You Can't Touch This", "Wild Thing" or "Bust A Move" at that time. For those jams not on the list, you'll see the artist's music from the sophomore or third album (which happened to A Tribe Called Quest and Big Daddy Kane).

I found that when I purchased this bood I was looking for simple rubber stamping techniques to make simple greeting cards. This book is way too advanced for a beginner like me so I was a litte frustrated. I wish that there was more information about books that you can buy so that you don't spend money on a book that is of little use to you.

This is an excellent book if you are looking for ideas on how to better make use of rubber stamps in an interesting and intriguing way with greeting cards. If you are VERY experienced at that, this book is not for you. That is not to say this is for beginners either. It is for someone who wants to do "cooler" things with cards and rubber and ink, but doesn't want to take all day to do it.

Thanks for another great book Mary Jo! The book covers very artistic methods that can be applied to any level of stamping. The instructions with pictures are very easy to understand. It also has a great index, definitions of items used, and a helpful resource of where to buy the items used in the book.

I found this book to be a great book that teaches card tricks ranging in skill from easy to difficult. It includes tricks based on the Si Stebbins Master System, Math-based tricks, and preforming tips and tricks. Overall, I give it 4 stars.

This book is quite miss leading. 113 easy-to perform miracles boils down too about 5 basic magic tricks with dozens and dozens of variations. Although these tricks are essential for future card tricks I think its not worth it.

Didn't expect much out of this one, but it actually turned out to be a great deck for anyone who wants to do magic. It has 16 great 'gimmicked' cards, and a full 52 card 'stripper' deck, that enables you to do great tricks. It also comes with a very thick instruction book, written by 'Mr. Mysterio', a magicicain from the 20's. There is also something of a plot line to the instruction book, with funny intruductions to the tricks. If your a beggenner or an advanced magician, this an amazing buy!

This guide is the best guide for this game! It has everything you need to know. Including, track maps with shortcuts and fastest routes shown, everything about all the blacklist rivals, even the stuff that the cops do. I would recommend this guide to anyone who has Need For Speed: Most Wanted.
How To Be Wanted.......2006-01-05
I always don't seem to know why so many third-party companies can make strategy guides as diverse as possible. While so many of them have done fairly well, there are others that could've been better. For anybody who has played the Need For Speed series, many of them have used these guides to score very big. The latest edition for Need For Speed: Most Wanted for several home consoles: PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, and P.C. gives unique details about what you need to do inorder to be most wanted. The book gives all the details about who to make it on the most wanted list, whether it is the tracks, or how to unlock certain cheats for improving your cars, and performances. Although the book is very detailed, I honestly wish that it could've given a whole lot more for the handhelds like the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS or the Sony PSP editions, for those who just have only those editions. If you don't have those, than it won't be as much of a problem. Prima's Need For Speed: Most Wanted guide is a great buy to beat the cops, and help you become a notorious racer.

For this game guide, it is quite good. It is because it does tell me a lot of good information to play through the game. For example, this guide has good tips to play it with good strategy.
