Napoleon wins another.......2007-05-16
Very funny. Great reminder of the highlights in the movie. I bought this for my wife as she is a fan of the movie, and she read it cover to cover and laughed loud and often.
If you love the movie, you'll love this.......2006-11-28
I really enjoyed this book. I originally said it was for my 10 year old son, but let's be honest, it was really for me. This is one of the funniest movies ever and now all the great quotes are right here in 1 book.
Sweet.......2006-08-25
I didn't give a flip about this movie until my son introduced it to me. As a former ethics teacher at a small college, the film struck me as pure genius for its abiltiy to capture the moral milieu of the high school experience, likely as it should be without guns and gangs. My daughters really liked the movie too so I decided to buy this book for them. Taken for what it is, it is a lot of fun and worth the sweet moula you have to spend. We laughed and had a good time going through it together. I recommend it as a stocking stuffer for your teens.
Wasteful, unnecessary........2006-03-22
As if obnoxious teenagers need more incentive to quote an inane and rather dull movie. The quotebook is not worth the money, simply put. There's nothing within that one cannot find by simply renting the movie or even looking it up on the Incredible Edible Internet (hint: head towards www.imdb.com). Before you buy this, stop for a moment and think to yourself: is this something I really need? Of course sometimes you just WANT, but if you already own the movie, or you have access to a library or computer, there's really no point in you wasting your hard-earned money on something so... Well. Pointless.
It's not particularly expensive, but there are plenty better products on which you can spend your 8 bucks.
A little redundant but great to have laying around.......2005-12-03
The book is redundant in that it is a book of quotes from, yes, the movie with the same name. And probably most people who are interested in the book will own the movie. Or will have seen it so many times that they can already quote it. I like the book, though. It's funny, everyone gets a kick out of it, and you just can't get enough of Napolean.

The Power of Screen Words, the Laughter and more.......2003-06-30
This book is a tremendous resource for snappy comments, it is literally the source on many subjects as spoken on the screen. They are all here from Blooming Calla Lilies to those Stink'n Badges.
Wisdom & Witt in the same book!.......2000-09-17
This book if filled with wonderful quotes from fantastic movies!!
Book Description
Bizarre facts, uproariously funny photos, and goofy trivia for the '80s movie fan
For people who came of age watching Footloose, Dirty Dancing, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Say Anything is a funny and completely addictive book that tests just how much of an '80s buff one really is. Not since Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon (Plume) have movie fanatics been handed such a humorous tool for testing their archives of trivia knowledge. Here's how it works: readers get a single line from an '80s film and then are asked to guess the name of the movie and the character and/or actor who made the line famous.
With more than five hundred memorable quotes, plus special theme sections on topics like "slasher flicks," John Hughes' movies, and the brilliant career of Molly Ringwald, Say Anything is the perfect handbook for the '80s pop-culture junkie.

GENIUS! Perfect for a party.......2004-02-24
This is like the ultimate party book. My brothers quote movies constantly. I mean constantly! They each got a copy for Christmas. I came on to buy a couple more copies and it's out of stock. Ugh! This is a great book.
Even my pop-pop laughed!.......2000-09-13
These incouragable fellows have done it again! An exceptional representaion of this impish decade is presented in a masterful manner by Peter Thomas and Frank. My temples almost imploded due to laughter when I read Peter Thomas' justification of the "Lompom Twins". I also almost seared myself after reading the "Ode to Russ" and all its colossal wisdom. No human could expand on this phenomenon as well as Peter Thomas and Frank. Kudos my green friends! Keep up the great work.
Bumbling Fun!.......2000-08-04
I had so much fun reading this book that I got a hernia! Peter Thomas and Frank present their wizadry in such a way that one could never mistake them for proprietors. They suckle the "teets" of the 80's cow until only powdered milk would resolve their finance. Undeniably, the highlight of this book is when Peter Thomas takes his shot at the musty moguls known as the "Lompom Twins"! Boy, did I laugh!
Funnier than a sickle!.......2000-06-27
This book is tremendously funny. I love Peter Thomas and Frank's candid approach towards the uninspiring decade that we know as the eighties. This book helped me get through a couple of tough years upstate at Elmira State Penitentiary. Since, I've been released, I've gained a new perspective on life and have Peter Thomas and Frank to thank. You good men have made a better man out of me through levity and humor. At first, the days were long and dreary but when my C.O. lent me that book, the days became brighter. I needed to keep it!
THANKS AGAIN! You will always be in my thoughts!
what a bang!.......2000-02-12
have a few drinks with the few friends you are still talking to from the 80's. open the book and say anything. what a hoot!
and ps, it's not war and peace -- it's a trivia book! cut it a break. i loved it!

Gems Of the Screen.......2002-10-08
"Why don't you come up sometime 'n' see me?Who said that, what movie did she say it in and who did she say it to? Well you probably know but if you don't you'll find that and hundreds of other fabulous quotes said by women, to women and about women in the movies in this marvelous little book.
Movie fans will love this collection of quips and quotes compiled by Jeff Bloch. You'll find great lines spanning 7 decades of cinema, paying homage to women in film.
The book is cleverly divided into sections pertaing to the subject of the quotes. For instances, under the heading of Fashion Statements .."The only thing that seperates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize"-Olympia Dukakis in Steel Magnolia's. Or under the heading of "IT"..."Was that cannon fire. or is my heart pounding?-Ingrid Bergman to Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca. Under Virtuosos..."If I'd been a ranch, they would have named me the Bar Nothing" -Rita Hayworth in Gilda. There are hundreds of theses tasty gems and snappy dialouges.
The index is divided into two parts. you can look up by actor/actress or by a particular movie.
I recieved this book as a gift about 3 years ago, it still sits on my coffee table and as people pick it up and skim through it I always see a smile of recognition on their faces.
This would be a great gift for any film buff.
So "Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be bumpy night."(Bette Davis in All About Eve) Laurie
By the way I know you knew but--the first one, Mae West to Cary Grant in She Done Him Wrong.

Campy, Vampy, Trampy Movie Quotes.......2002-03-23
I have lots of movie quote books but this one's the most fun. It's a bit risque, but a great reference. I highly recommend it.
Don't waste your money!.......2001-02-19
This book was a complete waste of paper, ink and money. I don't think the author even had to do any research. These quotes are all so common as to have long ago entered the general lexicon. There is nothing new in here. Don't bother.

Book Description
This book provides a comprehensive account of different sociological theories of culture. Examining and comparing Marxist contributions from Gramsci, the Frankfurt School and Raymond Williams with the work of Weber, Durkheim, Simmel and Parsons, the author in turn contrasts these contributions with contemporary cultural theory. Concepts and theories of culture such as hegemony, force field and cultural materialism are discussed, and the work of Habermas, Bourdieu, Bakhtin, Jameson and Bell is examined critically. The author develops a sociological approach to the study and analysis of culture that allows the complex nature of social context to be taken into account. Arguing that cultural theory must equally develop theories of agency and self, he reviews the ways that both classical and contemporary sociological and Marxist theories have failed in this regard.

Patterns for Effective Use Cases (The Agile Software Development Series)
ASIN: 0321154983 |
Book Description
Use Cases: Requirements in Context describes how to gather and define software requirements using a process based on use cases. It shows systems analysts and designers how use cases can provide solutions to the most challenging requirements issues, resulting in effective, quality systems that meet the needs of users. Specifically, with use cases, you can:
Reduce the incidence of duplicate and inconsistent requirements; Communicate requirements that are understandable to both users and developers; Prototype the right system well before the design phase is underway; Document the entire requirements process clearly and efficiently.
Use Cases: Requirements in Context first examines the difficulties of requirements gathering and briefly introduces both use cases and the Unified Modeling Language (UML). Using detailed examples that run through the book, it then elaborates a four-step method for establishing requirements--an iterative process that produces increasingly refined requirements. Drawing on their own extensive experience, the authors offer practical advice on how to manage this process, including guidance on planning, scheduling and estimating. They also reveal common mistakes and pitfalls to avoid.
This detailed, hands-on book shows you how to:
Describe object relationships and interactions with use case diagrams and scenarios Specify functional and non-functional requirements Create the candidate use case list Break out detailed use cases and add detail to use case diagrams Add triggers, preconditions, basic course of events, and exceptions to use cases
Other topics include stakeholder interviews, use case name filters, the context matrix, user interface requirements, team organization, and quality assurance.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent high level & indepth details in developing Use Cases.......2005-12-24
Too often you find books on these subjects that tend to talk theory, leaving it to you to determine how you'll apply that theory. This book in excellent, not only in presenting the theory, but even more so when it deals with interviewing, testing and taking a Use Case artifact through the various iterations to the Finished (polished) state.
If you've never done Use Cases, start with this book.
If you've used Use Cases, but not studied the theory, continue with this book.
If you want to teach others, apply this book.
It is great all around.
Excellent Book.......2003-05-31
Very interesting stuff and fluid understanding..Could have more topics though
A great path to follow.......2003-01-17
Being in the middle of a messy project this book came to me a little late. I consider is one of the best introductions to
the understanding of what a use case is and WHAT things you should put in it. Everbody has suffered for long endless meetings discussing which is the scope of the use cases and how it should be used, I strongly recomend to read this book before start arguing.
I give it four starts because it lacks in some way of paths that can work as guidelines trough the process, although is not the focus of this book, it would very useful to include a couple of pages reviewing this subject.
A Great Book for Use Case driven Requirements Modeling.......2002-10-28
I saw this book in a stall, while searching for some other book. I had a glance at it and really liked the simplicity and practical approach. Once I bought it and read it completely, I felt happy to find such a great book on Requirements Study. To read and understand this book you need not have a lot of experience or a Requirements Specialist. I feel anyone from Programmer to Project Manager will find this book very useful. The authors teach you in a very practical manner, how to come out with good Use Cases. I enjoyed reading this book, applied the concept in my projects while doing Requirements Study and now can happily recommend this book to others.
Three cheers to the authors for a great work.
Note: I found Craig Larmen, while talking about Use Cases in his best selling book on UML and Patterns talks highly about this book.
The Best Use Case Book I've Read So Far.......2002-02-13
Programmers naturally hate use cases. They seem boring, and having seen hundreds of them (written by others and handed to me) over the years, I had lost hope that this practice would ever be of any benefit. I had grown tired of constantly reading varying levels of abstraction and `use-case-itis'. All this, despite the fact that Jacobson's original work and the UDP incorporation of use cases as central to that process was clearly a better way to go than wading through hundreds, sometimes thousands of pages of `shall' statements that accompany most projects (and too often, lead to their failure).
Then I read this book. I now use it regularly in every requirements-related class I teach, and I tell every programmer I meet to buy this book. Imagine a use case book that programmers can actually get excited about! This book blazes new territory and its practical insights and humor make it a fun read, as well.
Here are the great highlights:
1. Properly scoping and relating use cases
2. Introducing Business Rules as 'first-class citizens"
3. Applying UDP iterations to the use case development process.
These last two items make the book stand out. Understanding the importance of business rules as enterprise-wide invariants that span use cases is ground-breaking. The four UDP iterations are ingenious because they can help to enforce the proper level of abstraction, which is a big problem area for use cases. Try it, you'll like it!
In addition, the book is loaded with great practical advice and examples of good (and bad!) use case text. And finally, the authors present the most compelling arguments I've ever heard for ditching traditional requirements-gathering methods (which have clearly FAILED), because use cases are, after all, requirements IN CONTEXT (like the title says). If every use case writer read this book and followed it's advice, the software crisis would be dealt a serious blow.
Bottom line : If you write use cases (or worse, are forced to implement bad use cases at gunpoint), get this book!
