Flying Through the Galaxy........2005-09-10

STAR PILOTS is actually an inaccurate title for this young readers Star Wars book. The book really doesn't have much to say about pilots, but is all about space craft flown in the Star Wars universe. While there are a few non-space vehicles described, e.g. podracers, most of the book is dedicated to famous Star Wars vehicles. X-Wings, TIE Fighters, the Millenium Falcon, the Executor, Slave 1, and the Invisible Hand are all mentioned as well as escape pods and Republican gunships. The book is filled with pictures from the movies, which makes it attractive for young readers. Though this is a level 3 book, many of the words seem more difficult than that too me. However, the books chronological order makes it easier to make sense of it all. Overall, this is a great book for young Star Wars fans.

a tour of the great flying vehicles.......2005-06-04

"Star Pilot" is a tour of Star Wars' great flying vehicles. The title isn't entirely accurate since the focus isn't actually on pilots, but rather the machines. Beyond this, the scope is broader than space ships alone as the book includes pod racers and republic gunships. The scope includes the entire saga, starting with the droid control ship seen in the first minute of the "Phantom Menace" and ending with the Super Star Destroyer, seen in Episode six's final battle. The chronological order makes the book comfortable to follow. While the text is large, the vocabulary is much higher than the self-described level 3. The illustrations are large, high-quality and extracted from the films. While not comprehensive by any means, "Star Pilot" is an enjoyable tour of the most important vehicles of the Star Wars saga.

This is the 1st book that my Kindergardner read cover to cover, over and over. We were bored with Dick and Jane and I am Sam books this is a great way to share a childs interest with a childs education.

Narrated by C-3PO, "What is a Wookiee?" takes the reader on a tour of the various types of characters found throughout the Star Wars universe. In addition to meeting robots like R2-D2 and the pit droids, the tour features creatures such as Jabba the Hutt, Sebulba and of course Wookiees. The book covers the entire sage, from episode I to VI. What "Star Pilot" (also by Laura Buller) did with machines, "What is a Wookiee?" does with George Lucas' characters. In terms of the reading level, the book is perfect for most first and second graders. Both the pictures and text are large for young readers. While some illustrations are from studio stills, the majority of images are from the films. Most pages feature a vocabulary word that is reviewed on the last page. "What is a Wookiee?" should be in every young Star Wars fan's library.

My 7-year old LOVED it........2005-06-02

This book is narrated by the Star Wars character C3PO, who introduces the reader to a number of the characters from Star Wars. The pictures are very good. The text was at just the right level for my 7-year old son. He was delighted to read it out loud to me, as he really wanted me to know more about the Star Wars characters he so dearly loves. This is a great price for a book many children will enjoy.

Hard to follow.......2003-11-25

Yes, this book will show you all the maps of all the levels, and the placement of robots, powerups, etc., but I thought it was hard to follow. The maps are all in B&W and take a little study to read and follow. Though if you use them from the start, they are easier to use. I found little in there about strategy. It mainly repeats the advice the game give you. E.g., to defeat the Boss on level 12, its advice is to refer to what the intro to level 12 states. Yes, it's nice to see the maps and where all the robots are located, but this book could've been so more for such a great game!

Good info on single player, but not enough on multiplayer.......1999-05-25

This book has good info on single player. It can lead you right through the 24 levels. That sometimes takes the fun out of it. I mean it just shows you how to get through it and out of there. It also provides good info on weapons and powerups. Some of it disagrees with my opinion though. They really should make an multiplayer strategy guide for it. It is better for you in helping you in single player, plus it helps you in multiplayer. I play on the internet on a gaming service. This does not give jack diddly squat about multiplayer. The 4 pages they put into it provides me with info that is already known. I give this 2 stars because it makes single too easy. I give this 2 stars because it doesn't say anything about multiplayer. And I give it 2 stars because some of the weapons it shows disagrees with what I think.

The Title Says It all.......2007-08-17

If you want to go back to your school days and have no interaction with the subject matter then this book is OK. But to work on your photos and learn what you want to do to them forget it. Way to structured, more suited to a textbook in a real class room where you can ask the teacher "how do I do this", forget it.

UGH! Frustrating and too project driven........2007-08-06

I imagine this book would be fine for someone who has never used Photoshop, and just wants to be walked through a tiny bit of the program. This was a required text for a graphics class on electronic imagery, and I found it to be frustratingly limiting, to say the least.

For instance, one project has you going into a folder to access the background and other images for a collage. This is fine if that is what you want to do, but what if you want to find your own background, add your own images, or heaven forbid, explore some of the possibilities with the huge selection of tools Photoshop offers? This book covers just a tiny portion of a drop in the proverbial bucket, and I found myself supplementing this text with SEVERAL other books, as it is a very "think inside the box" kind of text. There are a myriad of ways to do things within the Photoshop program. (Just one of the great joys, in my opinion, of working with Photoshop) I don't believe this book in any way, shape, or form, relays that to the reader.

If you are looking for a good introductory text for Photoshop, keep looking! This one is sadly lacking!

This is an excellent product for any beginner. I had no clue about CS2 until I started this book. This should be in your library if you're using CS2

This book is the worst photoshop book I have ever used! In almost evey lesson he leaves out intructions. He acts like you did the lesson before. He does eveything the hard way. I hate this book and I would not give it a star. It takes forever to finish and I have to go to my NAPP help to do it the right way. I have not learned anything from this book. Don't buy it. Deb

Along with the disc, the step-by-step instructions to do certain exercises, is just what I needed!!! This book was a requirement for school, and I know I'll be using it for a VERY long time to come!!!
