This I a beautiful collection of work from the most important thinkers of our time. John Zerzan put this amaizing book together for people who know the horrors of civilization. I would reccomend this book to anybody and everybody living in our destructive modern culture. This book brings up points of an all around great perspective of civilization, with words from my personal favorite authors. Another plus is it is short but still a very percise and accurate read. You could finish it in a day or weekend. Over all beautiful piece of work.

A Fun Way to Learn French.......2005-02-18

My kids (ages 2, 4, and 6) enjoy listening to this tape on the way to school. They also enjoy playing the games that are suggested, so we frequently have to stop the tape.

This is a good introduction to some basic French words.

I have a 2 year old girl who likes to sing. She seems to really like this tape. She has a tape player she carys around and also listens to it in the car. All the songs are in French only with an introduction in English. All the words and translation are in the booklet that comes with it. Overall it is worth the money.

The best way to keep your kids fit (and even help them lose weight if they need to), is to get outside and start playing.

This wonderful book, Go Outside, has loads of great play ideas. If it's been a few years since you were a youngster, open to any page and you'll soon be smiling with memories. There's things to do at home, the beach, the pool, and every season of the year.

The photographs are wonderful, full of smiling happy children, and every idea includes a "What You'll Need" list so you'll be sure to have all your materials gathered. Most can be done with everyday items anyway.

This book is a great gift idea for parents too.

A great package for beginners.......2002-05-25

This comes with a nice (albeit rather small) set with a board and plastic pieces. The accompanying book is a nice introduction for absolute beginners. It is also a well made book, sewn in signatures so it won't fall apart. You'd be hard pressed to find a book and a set at this price. The book covers the rules and some basic tactics and then has one game examined to show some strategy. A great way to start out and see if you like the game.

The next step would be to get Iwamoto's excellent "Go For Beginners" (rather meatier than the book here, and a superb book) or the series of books by Janice Kim. Then Ishi Press has a series of books, mostly by James Davies. If you do want to get more serious about the game you will certainly want to get a bigger and better set. For that check out Yutopian.

Incidentally you can play Pente aka Go-moku aka 5-in-a-row on this set as well.

complete starter kit.......2000-02-17

The box came with a nice portable board that folds in half, and has a smaller board on its flipside. The pieces are decent for the price tag. More importantly though, it also comes with an excellent pocket-sized book that teaches you all the rules you need to know, and enough tactics and strategy to get you started. Its explanations are clear and it has helpful exercises and accompanying solutions which clarify the rules. The only pet peeve I have is with the twelve challenge problems at the end of the book. The author provides hints, but intentionally omits the solutions. He gives a URL for his homepage, where he claims he has the solutions to the challenge problems, but that link is broken. If anyone finds the new address, please email it to me (or just email me the answers).

Difficult to follow.......2005-01-04

I brought this tape hoping to expose my children to beginning Spanish in a fun and practical way. This tape was a big dissappointment. The layout of the tape is not entertaining and not easy for a beginner to follow. The quality of the recording is poor and there seemed to be no real effort in trying to make the tape both entertaining and educational. While the concept of "Drive-In Spanish" seems to be good, this tape does not deliver.

Good idea, bad execution.......2004-01-19

I am sad to say I cannot recommend this tape. The songs are adorable and the games are fun. Unfortunately, the quality of the recording is not good. The English parts spoken by the "announcer" were obviously recorded at a different time and are clear and easy to hear. In additon, when they speak Spanish in between the songs, it is clear and easy to hear. The Spanish songs themselves, however, are muffled. The songs must have been recorded in a different studio and are not of a good quality. It goes without saying that having clear, easy to hear recordings are crucial when attempting to learn another language.

The booklet that goes along with it is a good one at least. I am using it to follow along to the tape and my daughter and I play the games reading them from the book. We are having to depend on my husband's high school Spanish to get the pronunciations right since the tape is not much help.

I am giving three stars because the book is good, and the games and songs are rather fun for a young child. However, because of the technical problems, I do not recommend this product.

If you are looking for a Spanish tape to entertain you, this would fit the bill. My son (5yo) found it difficult to follow. We enjoy listening to it, but find that identifying vocabulary words from the songs a little hard.

(SABADO) THIS ENCOURAGES THE CHILDREN TO LISTEN BETTER AND THEN AT THE END OF EACH SONG THE NARRATOR DESCRIBES A FUN GAME TO PLAY AND ALL OF THEM CAN BE PLAYEDIN THE CAR. WE HAVE LEARNED A LOT AND CAR TRIPS ARE MUCH MORE FUN. ONE OF OUR FAVORITES IS "THE PIZZA SONG" IT ASKS IF YOU LIKE VARIOUS THINGS. "TE GUSTA?" I USE THIS A LOT AT THE GROCERY STORE. I'LL JUST SAY "TE GUSTA_______ ?" AND MY FIVE YEAR OLD WILL ANSWER SI OR NO. THIS IS A GREAT TAPE AT A GREAT PRICE. A baby game book that's easy to read, easy to carry and stays open on my lap while I'm playing with my baby. Hmmm. What took so long for this? I wish I'd had this for my first baby. I loved the games, I think the inside illustrations are super, and I really love the portable factor. It's a very durable book, too. And there's a clever index system when the cover is folded back that also makes this book remarkably easy to navigate. Great work!

This is one of the best marketing books I know of. Written by a marketing pro (and wife of Nike`s first marketing head Rob Strasser) the reader is shown the inner workings of one of the premiere marketing driven corporations of the western world.
This is not the story told by some outsider, who collected his informations from interviews with present and former managers, wrote the book under the dictate of some format guidelines from his publisher (not over 300 pages etc.) who then turned to another project.
My belief is, that J.B.Strasser put her very heart into this book to commemorate the work and achievements of her deceased husband and his work mates at Nike. So she shares with the reader the key facts and episodes, which made Nike successful.
As a marketing pro she also presents a rich picture about those key episodes and actions, which propelled Nike to success.

Incredibly Riveting Narrative.......1999-05-27

Nike's story is one of the most fascinating in business, especially for those of us that grew up in Nike's prime. The authors did an incredible job of storytelling, starting with a young Phil Knight and his MBA thesis all the way to the early 90's... Lots of inside "dirt" but hardly a gossipy work. You will be amazed at the inner workings of this company.
