Book Description
An Accessible and Systematic Stock Screening Method to Improve ProfitsPraise for SCREENING the MARKET
"Marc Gerstein turns the chancy art of picking stocks into a screen-based science. Next time someone tells you to do your stock market homework, tell them you read this book."
-Thom Calandra, Editor in Chief, CBS.MarketWatch.com
"Many times on my radio show my listeners ask what they can read to help them with their investing. Marc has hit the nail on the head with his four-step method to find, analyze, buy, and, the hardest part for many investors, when to sell stocks. I will now recommend Screening the Market as a must-read for all investors, beginning to advanced."
-Brent Wilsey, Host of Smart Investing, KFMB AM 760
San Diego, California
"A must-read for investors looking to dissect the stock market and find winning stocks. Gerstein simplifies the seemingly complex process of screening stocks, a key tool of the pros, to make it accessible for all investors."
-Matt Krantz, Reporter, USA Today

The best way to find stocks.......2004-08-04
Everything you want to know about Stock Screens.......2004-01-03
As an amateur programmer and someone that's worked on huge databases for a living, I can say I learned quite a few things from this book that I didn't already know.
But,the book goes on way too long. There is a good long chapter on stock screens; all the other chapters are fluff.
If you want to know everything about stock screeners, buy the book and read that one long good chapter, skip the rest of the book. I don't know of any other stock screener books, so I give it 4 stars for being innovative.

ASIN: 0471323640 |
Book Description
A market beating method for finding success in trading stocksValue is a concept that frequently eludes investors -- especially when it comes to stocks. In many cases, successfully identifying value can make the difference between picking a winner and getting burned. The Value Connection offers a systematic and doable method investors can use to take advantage of value in the stock market. Based on author Marc Gerstein's "Value Connection" method, this book will show investors how to find potentially attractive value connections, analyze specific situations to see if the value connection is sound, buy the best value connected opportunities, and sell stocks for which the value connection has weakened. The proven four-step method outlined -- which allows investors to understand the relationship between a company and its stock -- will help any investor screen the stock market for the best values out there. Real world examples make understanding this revolutionary investing method easy.

The 2007 Import and Export Market for Machinery for Sorting, Screening, Separating, or Washing Earth, Stone, Ores, or Other Mineral Substances in Solid Form in China
Philip M. Parker Manufacturer: ICON Group International, Inc. ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 0497650878 Release Date: 2006-10-24 |
Book Description
On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners focusing on machinery for sorting, screening, separating, or washing earth, stone, ores, or other mineral substances in solid form in China face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying machinery for sorting, screening, separating, or washing earth, stone, ores, or other mineral substances in solid form to China? How important is China compared to others in terms of the entire global and regional market? How much do the imports of machinery for sorting, screening, separating, or washing earth, stone, ores, or other mineral substances in solid form vary from one country of origin to another in China? On the supply side, China also exports machinery for sorting, screening, separating, or washing earth, stone, ores, or other mineral substances in solid form. Which countries receive the most exports from China? How are these exports concentrated across buyers? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers? This report was created for strategic planners, international marketing executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for machinery for sorting, screening, separating, or washing earth, stone, ores, or other mineral substances in solid form in China. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for machinery for sorting, screening, separating, or washing earth, stone, ores, or other mineral substances in solid form for those countries serving China via exports, or supplying from China via imports. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models. In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing where China fits into the world market for imported and exported machinery for sorting, screening, separating, or washing earth, stone, ores, or other mineral substances in solid form. The total level of imports and exports on a worldwide basis, and those for China in particular, is estimated using a model which aggregates across over 150 key country markets and projects these to the current year. From there, each country represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a number of competitive countries of origin. Based on both demand- and supply-side dynamics, market shares by country of origin are then calculated across each country market destination. These shares lead to a volume of import and export values for each country and are aggregated to regional and world totals. In doing so, we are able to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of both the value of each market and the share that China is likely to receive this year. From these figures, rankings are calculated to allow managers to prioritize China compared to other major country markets. In this way, all the figures provided in this report are forecasts that can be combined with internal information sources for strategic planning purposes.

The 2007 Report on Coke Made in Coke Oven Establishments Excluding Screenings and Breeze: World Market Segmentation by City
Philip M. Parker Manufacturer: ICON Group International, Inc. ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 0497739240 Release Date: 2006-11-13 |
Book Description
This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a “borderless world”, cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market. In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another. In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world\'s major cities for "coke made in coke oven establishments excluding screenings and breeze" for the year 2007. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales. For many items, latent demand is clearly observable in sales, as in the case for food or housing items. Consider, however, the category "satellite launch vehicles". Clearly, there are no launch pads in most cities of the world. However, the core benefit of the vehicles (e.g. telecommunications, etc.) is "consumed" by residents or industries within the world\'s cities. Without certain cities, in other words, the market for satellite launch vehicles would be lower for the world in general. One needs to allocate, therefore, a portion of the worldwide economic demand for launch vehicles to both regions and cities. This report takes the broader definition and considers, therefore, a city as a part of the global market.

The 2007-2012 World Outlook for Coke Made in Coke Oven Establishments Excluding Screenings and Breeze
Philip M. Parker Manufacturer: ICON Group International, Inc. ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 0497286572 Release Date: 2006-05-18 |
Book Description
This study covers the world outlook for coke made in coke oven establishments excluding screenings and breeze across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-à-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.
