It seems Banky has gone to Hollywood to produce a motion picture based on the comic book about their alter egos, Bluntman & Chronic, starring two popular young Hollywood actors as the duo. The real Jay and Silent Bob are stunned by the news and then shattered to find out they are being badmouthed on the internet for selling their story. There's only one shot at salvaging their slacker reputations: head to Hollywood to sabotage the production.

Read Some of the Snappiest, Most Hilarious Dialog Ever.......2003-03-15

Kevin Smith is the master of delivering snappy, intelligent, and HILARIOUS dialog in his films, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is no exception.

The storyline is fairly simple, in a Kevin Smith way: local stoners & sometime dealers Jay and Silent Bob find out there's going to be a movie made about comic book characters based on them, read a few nasty comments about it on the Internet, and decide to trash the movie. Basically, the story is more a vehicle for an homage to the previous Jersey flicks featuring the improbable duo, with appearances by nearly every character from the previous films.

That, however, doesn't stop Smith from putting some of the funniest dialog ever into the mouths of all those characters, and reading the screenplay is almost as good as watching the movie so heavily dependent on said dialog is the story (though you miss out on some pretty cute girls!)

So Long, Jay and Silent Bob?.......2003-01-10

Here is the complete screenplay of Kevin Smith's magnum opus, complete with all the lines and bits the verbally incontinent writer/director was unable to fit into the finished film. The foreword is a heartfelt tribute to Jason Mewes (Jay). Smith claims that the guy is really acting a role, and not just playing himself. Uh-huh. Smith is, of course, the creator of some of the most hilarious and elaborate [gas] and fart jokes ever conceived, and that shows up here in full force. But he is also a writer of great perception, subtlety, and invention, and that also peeks through from time to time. Supposedly Smith is now, like Woody Allen, going on to make more mature films like the upcoming "Jersey Girl." I hope he doesn't leave out the funny. It's his special gift.

excellent book... it is a great find anywhere. you should definitely purchase this screenplay if you are a kevin smith fan or a fan of his movies... his screenplays include scenes previously not shown in the original movie.

If you don't appreciate the Kevin Smith Films to date, don't bother reading this. If you saw the film, and can't get enough of it, then this book is ideal. Buying this book and expecting under 200 "F" words or an apology for the language, one must be either unaquainted with the title characters or any of their exploits from 5 DVD's and numerous other print sources, or simply naive. Religious zealots will not enjoy much of this script, as many do not find humor based on oral sex and nuns funny. The irreverant tone is what makes the film, and this book is just the same in a hard copy. If you missed some of the jokes, inside or not, in print they can become more clear. Marshall Willenholly, for example is not only the Law enforcement officer chasing our heroes, but also the three first names of the family in Land of the Lost. Jokes like that can be detected more clearly in this easy to read and understand format. I cannot recommend it enough.

Sick humor.......2001-10-09

Does this Kevin jerk ever tire of filthy language? His "movies" (if they can be called that) are really sick - would be entertaining to a point IF one could discard the filth. These "movies" are NOT for human consumption and certainly not for decent minded folks. Watch the grass grow - it is FAR more entertaining.

For those carvers who cannot get enough patterns for Christmas carvings, I wrote this book just for you. I designed it to be easy enough for a beginner to complete the project, and challenging enough for advanced carvers to add their own interpretations to the patterns. Not readible.......2007-06-28

It is clear that the author is an expert in this subject, but the book is not very readible, (ex: many of the sentences exceed 6 lines). It took me a very long time to finally finish reading the thing, my favorite was the last chapter when he compared ETFs against conventional mutual funds.

Unless you work for a firm that constructs ETFs for a living, (iShares, Vanguard, WisdomTree, etc.) then recommend that you not purchase this book,

This is not a manual for practitioners, or for ordinary people interested in ETFs. It is a discussion of the authors views of ETFs, and why they are generally superior to other investment vehicles.

A bit long. And it's too expensive.

As a consultant to the industry, if you are going to buy one book on ETFs, this is it. Written in a clear and concise manner, this book addresses the needs of institutional investors and professionals alike.

Good practical reference work.......2003-03-17

Gary Gastineau, a managing director at Nuveen Investments and the author of The Options Manual (1988), has written the most detailed account available in print of open-ended exchange-traded funds: how they work, what are their distinctive characteristics, who trades them (largely, specialists, market makers, and hedge funds), who owns them (largely, brokerage firms clearing and carrying the ETF shares for specialists, market makers, or hedge funds), and what are their advantages and disadvantages over other sorts of investment for various investors.

This is no gripping page-turner, in the league of Jack Schwager's "Wizards" series. But it doesn't need to be. Mr. Gastineau's manual is directed chiefly at investment advisers and financial planners as a reference volume, and it serves that purpose quite well. Advisers and planners, and of course their clients, face a bewildering variety of issues pertaining to these relatively new vehicles-issues of tax efficiency, risk management, trading costs and spreads, etc. In many offices, this book will be a welcome aid in sorting out all of that.

A brilliant, comprehensive and readable compendium on ETFs.......2002-05-09

Exchange Traded Funds are simply the biggest development for the average retail investor in the past decade. No more need to pay huge fees for opaque mutual funds/unit trusts. Just go to an exchange, buy the fund and hey presto you can track indices and have total price transparency for as long as the exchange is open.

I championed ETFs in my book "Capital Market Revolution" and I am delighted to see that ETF pioneer Gary Gastineau has produced a terrific, comprehensive book on every aspect of Exchange Traded Funds.
