Excellent Introductory Book.......2003-08-09
The book is definitely for beginners and thats what I am. I have read other introductory books which, while good, left out important details about how actual play progreses This book gores through gameplay, step by step. The book explained things about poker, for example, which I was confused about. It quickly summerized how to make the best of your poker hand. Recommended.

The previous reviewer is correct when he says this a basic book for the first-time gambler. However, this is what the "Everything" series tries to do. These books will not make you an expert in any particular field. If you know someone who gambles occasionally, for them, this book is perfect. It covers many games and while not getting too in depth, tries to bring up the areas of each game in which to be concerned. Show me any other beginner's gambling book that covers every game any better than this one.

if you can spell "casino" you are much too advanced to waste time reading this. the author is apparently targeting the most uninitiated of casino visitors; however, it is difficult to imagine, with the proliferation of legalized gaming in this country, that any reader could be this wanting. all information in this book is readily accessible in any legalized gambling establishment free of charge and this author must certainly be aware of this fact. spend the $10 on a buffet when you get to Vegas!

Guide to Studying for Illinois Real Estate Exam.......2000-07-11
This book provides an excellent preparation for the Illinois Real Estate Salesperson's Exam. The text is easy to follow and has break out "In Illinois" sections that give state-specific information. Each chapter has a quiz at the end and list of key words at the beginning. These are supplemented by two sample examinations and a comprehensive glossary. The sample exams are very similar to the ones provided by the testing company that administers the licensing exam. The graphics in the illustrations look dated, but are clear and easy to follow. One downside is photocopied list of corrections that comes with the book. It is very inconvenient to have to carry these around and refer back to them.

Modern Real Estate Practices.......2007-04-10
After giving up my RE license a couple of years ago, I decided to try and get it back. This is a great book, with lots of information that you both need to know and things that are just plain fun to know. I read the book and used the accompanying CD, tested, and passed on the first try. I'm not sure I could have done it without such a comprehensive book. Highly recommended (but be sure and ask which book, and which version of the book, that local instructors use to teach RE principles and practices before purchasing)

After comparing other study guides, Modern Real Estate Practice is by for superior. All the information is in a reader friendly format. The real estate math is made simple. The DVD testing is awesome. I would recommened this study book to anyone considering a real estate career.
Good Study Aid.......2006-03-04
Using this reference guide along with the materials supplied in my real estate class I was able to pass the examination for the real estate sales person license on the first attempt.
I did not give it 5 stars because the CD with sample exam questions that comes with the book is not compatible with MACS - something you don't find out until after you buy it!
Clear, concise and incredibly useful.......2005-07-19
I am a FSBO/investor looking to gain a better understanding of the specific issues. The book provided a practical, no-nonsense approach. A real estate agent friend of mine recommended it since he used it in his pre-licensing class. Nice job!
Short Chapters are a Plus.......2004-04-17
I am interested in the field of Real Estate and purchased this book last year. I finally finished it and I found it to be informative and easy to read and understand. The short chapters were especially nice as you could sit down for an hour (or less) and finish a chapter. I can't comment on how it prepares you for the test as I haven't taken it but it seems to cover all the technical aspects of real estate. It does not cover how to actually convince people to buy, sell, etc. I purchased this book partly on the recommendation of other comments posted here and I was not disappointed.

All You Need to Pass Exam and have Abundant Knowledge.......2006-03-03
After studying in Illinois for two years, well I wouldn't call what I was doing STUDYING, I happened upon this book. I saw the light! It is so clear, user friendly and succinct. I feel that I owe the authors something. As you can see, I've crossed a couple borders over to Ohio. Thank goodness the publishers make many many state editions. Never too much of a good thing. The sixteenth edition of this book comes with a study CD-ROM which is fabulous. If you've "studied" real estate and have yet to pass your exam, just take the quizzes over and over until you achieve 90-100% accuracy. That will be soon and you will blaze through the state exam.
