The book takes the reader behind the scenes to give a real flavor of the film set and includes sections of the script, the costumes, production design, all the main actors, the experiences of the director, producer and scriptwriter, and the views of Renée Zellweger herself on being Beatrix and what the connections are between the real Miss Potter and the woman who is playing her.
Customer Reviews:
A great companion volume for fans of Miss Potter!.......2007-07-05
I have always loved Beatrix Potter's children's tales, and the movie version of her life starring Renee Zellweger, "Miss Potter" was a true classic...moving in its character exploration, beautiful in its execution and depiction of the beauty of the Lake District, and truly inspiring. If you loved the movie or are simply a fan of all things Potter [Beatrix, not the wizard]...you'll love & treasure this guide to the movie. It is lushly illustrated with full-color pictures, and takes readers behind the scenes of the movie, with insights by the director, producer, scriptwriter, and Zellweger herself. I also plan to get 'Beatrix Potter: A Journal",and "At Home with Beatrix Potter: The Creator of Peter Rabbit" to add to my collection.
Adults love her too!.......2007-05-12
Somehow growing up I missed all the Beatrix Potter stories. I find them delightful now and am going to share them with my grandchildren. This book about the making of the movie makes me really want to see the movie. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I highly reccomend it.
Missed the movie...............2007-02-18
but loved the book and can't wait to own my own copy of the DVD. I've been a big fan of Beatrix Potter ever since my daughters were born and I read her many books to them as children. Today I find myself reading these same stories to my grandchildren. I loved this book because it showed all that went into making the movie. I couldn't help but admire the actors and actresses who were fortunate enough to be a part of this wonderful film. If you admire Beatrix Potter you must add this book to your collection. I have along with the wonderful books written by Susan Wittig Albert.
Book Description
Film Fables traces the history of modern cinema, moving effortlessly from Eisenstein's and Murnau's transition from theatre to film to Fritz Lang's confrontation with television, from the classical poetics of Mann's Westerns to Ray's romantic poetics of the image, from Rossellini's neo-realism to Deleuze's philosophy of the cinema and Marker's documentaries.
Book Description
The lavishly illustrated companion book to the new film by the award-winning director of Quest for Fire, The Bear, and The Name of the Roseabout twin tiger brothers in the jungles of French Indochina in the colonial period, a major family summer movie from Universal Pictures.
"This movie is a combination of three of my greatest passions: the animal world; a love of temples and monasteries; and my fascination with the European colonial period. Although it is a fable, Two Brothers also deals with important contemporary issues.
"I am very sad to see that the world that we share with many other species is vanishing. My great hope is that Two Brothers will help us understand the pleasure of sharing the world with animals and to encourage their conservation.
"Humans are not alone on the earth, they are not the only ones who have feelings and experience adventures. I think it is important for cinema to give the viewpoint of the forgotten 'people.'"Jean-Jacques Annaud
Five months shooting a major feature film in Thailand and Cambodia, amidst the temples of Angkor, with tigers imported from France and the US was an extraordinary, even life-changing experience for the international cast, starring Guy Pearce (Memento, L.A. Confidential), and a crew of more than 400 people. Their leader was the intrepid director/writer/producer Jean-Jacques Annaud who has always been willing to undergo enormous hardship in order to bring the film that he has imagined to the screen, as evidenced by his visionary work on such movies as Quest for Fire, The Name of the Rose, The Bear, and Seven Years in Tibet.
In riveting detail and fully illustrated with stills, drawings, historical paintings, and images that inspired and tracked the process, this beautiful book covers the entire moviemaking odyssey, from pre-production, begun more than a year prior to shooting, through the final post-production stages. Included are fascinating sections on the selection and training of the tigerscubs and full-grownby world-renowned animal handlers, including Thierry Le Portier, who worked on the movies The Bear and Gladiator.
Two Brothers is the story of twin tiger brothers born amidst the temple ruins and exotic jungles who are separated as cubs and taken into captivity, one tiger to become a circus performer, the other a trained killer. Years later, the brothers find themselves reunited, but as forced enemies pitted against each other. Guy Pearce plays an adventurer of English origin, whose tragic intervention into the idyllic lives of the two tiger brothers forever intertwines their fates. 100 color illustrations.

Atlantis Movie Guide.......2002-03-04
If you have seen and enjoyed the movie, you will enjoy this guide. It actually sheds some light on the reasons why the artists featured various items and artifacts.
If they had included some of the facts in this book in the movie, it would have made it way more interesting for me. I'm almost wondering if you read the book first, you would enjoy the movie more.
In this book you can find out more about your favorite characters, explore the underwater royal chambers and secret caves, see detailed pictures of the amazing fleet of vehicles and travel to the magical world of monsters, giants, princesses and kings.
Great Book on ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE from DK.......2001-07-26
Dorling Kindersley makes great looking books. This book for Disney's ATLANTIS: THE LOST EMPIRE is very nice. It covers each character and hardware used in the film and is both captivating and educational. Excellent!
A Complete Biography that amazed me.......2001-07-17
This book has a wide range of hidden facts about the movie It's also full with awesome pictures and fantastic guidelines for a collector to know .There's also some speciality in this book that amaze me like a complete data and knowledge of each and every single character, maps, about vehicles, history of Atlantis and much more. It's simply a must have for all the disney and atlantean fans out there.
Very Interesting and Enjoyable.......2001-07-03
I think this book is a must have for any Atlantis: The lost Empire fan. It thoroughly describes just about everything in the movie: from characters to places. I love it and I highly recommend it.
Disney Animation just keeps getting better........2001-05-14
I bought this book for myself, not my children. As an artist, animator, and Disney fan I wanted the book as a reference for the artwork used in the film. All I can say is I love the look of this film and I can't wait to see the movie. However, this is not an art book and in fact is not approved by Disney. It gives a little background on each of the characters, vehicles, and equipment used in the film, accompanied by gorgeous artwork from the movie itself, but is not a narrative story. Be aware, if you have not seen the film, this book gives away almost all of the plot. It also has none of the creative process behind what went into the movie. It is simply a very nice picture book and, in my opinion, worth the price.

Product Description
Though Grimm's Fairy Tales was published about 200 years ago, the revered collection of folk stories remains one of the most iconic pieces of children's literature and has had significant influence in modern pop culture. This work examines the many ways that recent films have employed archetypal images, themes, symbols, and structural elements that originated in the most well-known Grimm fairy tales. The author draws similarities between the cannibalistic symbolism of the Grimm brothers' Little Red Cap and the 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs and reveals Faustian parallels between Rumpelstiltskin and the 1968 film Rosemary's Baby. Each of eight chapters reveals a similar pairing, and film stills and illustrations are featured throughout the work.

Customer Reviews:
Must-Read for Today's Business Executive and Shareholders Alike.......2006-01-31
With the increased scrutiny on company accounting practices, executive compensation, and the Board's role in setting strategy, this book on corporate governance is an extremely timely and important one. The authors thoughtfully detail the issues Boards face, how best to work with CEOs and plan for their successor, and develop strategies for effective leadership. There's even a section on Boards for companies outside the U.S., which I found extremely valuable.
For anyone interested in how Boards work and the steps they need to take going forward (and I think any shareholder should be), this is essential reading. Highly recommended.
Thoughtful and timely.......2006-01-30
This is a superb book. Comprehensive and well-written, it addresses a vitally important topic with innovative ideas and practical solutions. In a field increasing crowded with prescriptions for solving the dilemmas of corporate governance, Building Better Boards stands out as a book worth reading.
