This book covers all the major and minor rock-films, from the Beatles "Yellow Submarine" to "Jesus Christ Superstar", even covers movies like "American Graffiti" which have extensive rock soundtracks. The book is very interesting, and a definite recomended buy!

Good for beginners, but...........2006-10-25
This is a pretty good book for beginners and has many of the essential elements necessary to begin playing trumpet, like fingerings, posture, and related basic material. That being said, more explanation of some techniques would be helpful, as well as suggestions about ways to practice, recordings to listen to, and maybe even some trumpet history. Though I recommend this book for beginners, a good supplement to it that includes all of the items listed above is: 'Sound the Trumpet: How to Blow Your Own Horn."

The easiest notes to play and finger are presented first with exercises to practice them. This book comes with a play-along CD. This CD includes all solo exercises.
Hal Leonard also offers (though not through Amazon) band sets for band directors. They are simple arrangements of music that correlate with the book. They are great for the first concert.

Great Book for Bands and Beginners.......2003-10-25
We bought this book for our 11-year-old daughter. She plays piano and is now learning flute, her brother (13) plays clarinet for the high school band. The band teacher also agreed on the quality of the book and CD. We all agreed, this book is a good help because it can be read and understood by children as young as 10 year old. Offers easy to understand ways and the companion CD makes learning a pleasure. Living in a small southern town, our children enjoy spending their time learning music. I am one of the top ten trumpet players at school. I got this book about 2 months before sixth grade ended because I wanted a challenge. It is now the 5th week of seventh grade and I can already play everything in the book. It's way too easy for advanced students with good articulation and tone.

Great book, easy to understand and it works!.......2007-07-03
I am not going to claim anyone can make a living playing craps, but I will say that this book helped me to learn how to play craps. I won $987 starting with $100 in chips the first time I played craps after reading Conquering Casino Craps. I made another $175 the second time I played, so over two days I made $1162, and I only took $200 to the casino. This book is easy to read and understand, and the betting strategy is simple enough that you can remember it and it makes sense. I have had a couple of losing sessions also, but with his strategy for leaving a table I only lost around $18 each time this happened. This book gives a sound education on how the game works and gives you a strategy for taking advantage of a hot table and also for keeping losses to a minimum when a table turns cold. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has wanted to play craps but felt intimidated by the game. I was one of those people, but am now confident in my game play and love the game.
GOOD FOR BEGINNERS BUT BEWARE..........2004-09-04
This book gives sound advice on only playing the two lowest house percentage bets, pass line and come line, but does a poor job of explaining the don't pass and don't come. It assumes that everyone is a "right bettor". The advice on setting strict loss limits is very valuable to most players who lack discipline. You will learn to preserve your bankroll if you strictly follow the author's advice to walk away when the rules say so. It's not easy. My main criticism is that the suggested session money is way too low for the style of play suggested. It leaves too much freedom for undisciplined players. The power betting schedule is way too aggressive for most players. Once you get into the betting progression, taking double odds on 4-10's calls for way too much money at risk. This is reckless money management. You might break the bank once in a while, but you'll lose a huge bet on the inevitable 7-out at the end of that hot roll. There are smarter ways to manage even a very hot shoot. And there are better books on craps.
Make 50,000 a week with this combo.............2002-11-03
You can make absolute bank with this book and the new book "Get the Edge on Craps: How to control the dice" also found on this site. The book I just mentioned is how to control the dice so you can hold them on average 15-20 minutes every time you step up to the table. Sometimes you can hold them for 45 minutes. It shows you how to set, grip and throw the dice to get predetermined numbers all within 1-2 seconds so the casino does not observe you being a dice mechanic. There are people who do this and make a living at it, such as a person by the name of The mad professor who claims to be a dice mechanic earning 400,000 per year, on dicesetter.com. If you use "Get the Edge on Craps: How to control the dice" along with Conquering Casino Craps you will make about 50,000 per week. In Conquering Casino Craps it has a betting strategy that is devestating to the casinos as it has you betting only the casinos money stating off with 5 dollars with double odds and working your way up to putting down 1,000 on the line with 2,000 in odds all with the cainos money several points later. So it goes 5 with 2x odds, 10 with 2x odds, 25 with 2x odds, 50 with 2x odds, 100 with 2x odds, 100 with 2x odds, 200 with 2x odds, 400 with 2x odds, 600 with 2x odds, 1000 with 2x odds.
This may seem like a lot of points, but this can be done at a not crowded table within 10 minutes if you are on a streak, which you will be constantly with dice control as taught in the aforementioned book. Even with random "chickenfeeder" rollers, I have caught hot streaks of 10 minutes where I have made 14,000 using the above betting stategy. Can you imagine what I would make holding the dice for 20 or 40 minutes? These two books are how to break a dice table. You will have heat from the pit and careful scrutiny of your play, so dont take too long detting the dice. As the dice are being pushed over by the stickman, as a professional, be looking at them and in your mind see what you would have to do to set the dice for the proper set so by the time you have the dice, you just quickly set them in one fluid motion and shoot.
Good Luck. I am thinking about getting a dice team together and going to hit vegas.

If everyone in the casino played like the way it decribes in this book they would have to close the craps tables. I have tried the power system of betting the passline and in computer simulations I have walked away with hundreds of dollars and once even several thousand. I have come up with my own system to improve on this system if anyone is interested. I will email it to you for free. It involves also playing 'dont pass' as there are streaks where the dice are ice cold where you can also make bank.
Intriguing Betting Strategy.......2001-05-24
I have yet to use the Power Betting Strategy that is explained in this book, but I look forward to trying it on my next trip. I found the author insightful, with a good deal of anecdotal information to go along with his strategy. If I could find a negative (for me), I felt that too many pages were dedicated to discussing cheating and the mechanics involved. However, his fascination with dice "skill shots" was offset by his firm opposition to cheaters at the dice table. Overall, an excellent read. I found the author's honesty and frankness refreshing, in comparison with those books hawking "guaranteed wins" over the casino.

This book as reference about modeling techniques is good (but not if you try to see a deeper technical stuff), but if you are finding a true guidelines for modeling with SAP BW, it not good enough. Exists a lot of good technical reference about multidimensional modeling. When I bought this book if get it supposing in it I will find more advices, recommendations and considerations about how I will represent the modeling requirements directly to analyze, identify all the tools contained in the SAP BW system, but it wasn't. It shows examples about the objects required for specific busness scenario, but never gives the advices to how to build new ones. The "golden rules" doesn't exist in this book. Is much better and preferable take the design & optimization course instead this book.
Almost unreadable!.......2006-06-30
While the book has considerable content, the author does an exceptionally poor job of introducing basic concepts and seems to have a problem with basic English grammar.
An example: In the "SAP Business Information Warehouse - Overview" section, which supposedly introduces the reader to an overview of SAP BW, under a side heading of "InfoObjects as InfoProviders", you have the following:
Master-data-bearing characteristics as InfoProviders provide reporting with the master data tables of the attributes and texts of the particular characteristics involved".
Besides the fact that this sentence does not make grammatical sense, no attempt has been made to previously define 'master-data-bearing', or to define what master data tables are. It is anyone's guess as to what 'particular characteristics' he is talking about! It also doesn't seem to make sense to have this sentence under a heading of "InfoObjects as InfoProviders"!
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated example! Two sentences before this one reads "Why would you use ODS objects despite all their problems? Because it makes sense to store data at the document level in ODS objects if you think of this storage as a kind of archive that can be directly accessed with key fields that lead to it directly, such as "document number" or "item number." (sic) However, mapping the last requirement with InfoCubes (with line items) offers better performance.
Forgive my ignorance here, but what the hell is the "last requirement" referring to in this sentence?
My advice - Avoid this book!!! For someone who attempts to use this as an introduction to SAP BW it is unreadable and I would imagine that the appalling grammar would make it barely readable for someone who DOES know SAP BW!

It is a good book but you need to have BW Access to understand the screenshots since they are very light and small print. These need to be made bold and enlarged otherwise the book is good for beginers and most of the book is on reporting and not Extractions.
most solid BW book available.......2005-06-22
I'm glad that I didn't read all of the other reviews here before buying this book from sap press. I think the negative ones might have scared me away... We are anew BW implementation so in the last few months we have been collecting every book and training resource we could find to help bring about 14 people up to speed. I agree with many of the comments that other people have made here, especially about the screen shots being too small. but I wanted to add my own 2 cents so that people read this info in the right context. First, most of the other books we bought don't have enough screen shots at all. Second, most of the other books are much more outdated (this one is from '04) - covers up to 3.1. All the books, including this one, don't go into enough detail, but I found that at least with the BW professional book there's enough meat to help give you a good general understanding of how things work and enough technical details to teach you the basics. I we were more experienced, I think we could even get more out of it, and hopefully we will in the next few months. So, overall - there are some shortcomings, but that seems to be the case for all the BW books on the market. For $70, i really don't see how anyone could not get good value from this. We do have other sap press books that are better than this one (some of them are truly exceptional) but i've talked with the other guys and girls on the team and even with the faults we agree that it's still the best BW book we have seen yet. I think they are releasing some new books on 3.5 later this year.
