Book Description
The first feature film by the Monty Python team is a mock-heroic tale set in mediaeval Britain. This screenplay edition contains just the script and is supplemented by 8 pages of b&w stills from the film.

Rate crap........2007-02-21
I love Monty Python. Absolute genius in every way. The Holy Grail movie is high on my shelves in its place of honor. This, however, is a horridly inaccurate bastardization of the script. Every five sentences contains an error, leaving out numerous words, including some of the jokes. You can find scripts far more accurate and complete online. Don't buy this, really, find a better one.
Lame "novelization" of original "The Book".......2007-01-10
I ordered this a little hastily. It is a standard sized paperback with little more than the lines as they appear in the film.
There is a FAR COOLER screenplay that is apparently out of print that you should search for. It's about 8.5" by 11" and includes lots of interesting extras - sketches and deleted/changed lines. I found one on another site that hosts lots of used books often for "half" cover price.
This Movie Had Me Hysterical!.......2005-11-01
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is perhaps the funniest and stupidest movie you will ever encounter. It had me on the floor laughing-no-crying, unable to breathe. The creators of Monty Python have the most odd sense of humor, and that's what I like in movies. Perhaps it's the stupidity of it all; perhaps it's just me, but I'll tell you one thing: if you have trouble breathing, DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE! It will definitely choke you. Here is a brief summary of my favorite parts:
Sir Arthur is in need of noble and worthy knights, so he rides off on his imaginary horse to find them. He finds a castle pretty soon. The first one he encounters is a masked man who has just one a battle. However, the masked knight will not let Arthur pass. So they fight. Arthur cuts off all the knights limbs, and yet the knight does not seem to notice. (One of the funniest scenes.) Once Arthur has aquired all his knights, they go in search of the Holy Grail. The first major problem they face is that the Knights of Nee block their path. To proceed, the Knights of Nee require that Arthur find-get ready for this-a shrubbery! So, Arthur returns with the shrubbery. But the Knights of Nee request that he finds-another shrubbery. And once he has found the shrubbery, he must cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with-a herring. Okay... Sir Arthur says, "I won't do it!" It just so happens that the Knights of Nee can't hear the word "it". They immediately fall to the ground, and Sir Arthur and his companions are able to proceed.
There are many other hilarious scenes is this movie, such as Sir Launcelot saving someone from a castle that he believes to be a girl, but is really a boy, the head of another castle throwing dead animals down at Arthur, a ferocious rabbit biting off someone's head, and the film ending when the police smash the camera lense. If you get this movie, you are guaranteed to fall on the floor laughing.
For ten bucks, what the heck.......2004-02-14
Amazon has knocked five bucks off the list price of this book which just about makes it worth it. As others have noted, if you're a true MPFC fan, you've seen the movie so many times that you know the script by heart already. You also probably own a copy of the film. So why do you need this book? I dunno. There are no new photos, no commentary... If you know someone who is new to the world of MPFC, it's a safe bet that you'll lend them the video and not the screenplay. On the other hand, for the collector of all things Monty, for ten bucks, this will fill the bill. So what the heck? Go for it.
THE QUEST FOR MP.......2003-08-19
Methuen Publishing follows up it's The Life Of Brian screenplay (2001) with the Monty Python And The Holy Grail screenplay (2002). In addition to being an excellent reference for all MP fans, it contains 19 b&w photos from the film and is more compact then the Monty Python And The Holy Grail (BOOK). Be sure to check the 2 page cast list in the back to see who played what (and how many). A must for any MP collection.

Book Description
Christopher Dawes lives in a quiet English village. His neighbor is Rat Scabies, former drummer with the Damned, best noted for setting his drums on fire while still playing them at a live concert. Life with Rat as a neighbor isn’t run-of-the-mill, but things turn even stranger when Rat announces that he (and Christopher) are going on a search for the Holy Grail.
The saga begins in Rennes-le-Chateau in France, where in 1891 a local priest discovered a treasure whose mystery remains unsolved. Once Christopher and Rat have written a list of things to do (“Buy metal detectors!”), they need only unravel a tale involving the Cathars, the Knights Templar, the Man in the Iron Mask, and Louis XIV—and along the way, visit Paris, Rome, Glastonbury, and Tintagel—and perhaps join the Masons (Rat thinks they know something).
The legend of the Holy Grail is far from unknown, but this is the first time the quest has been given the punk rock treatment. Rat Scabies and the Holy Grail is a psychedelic, Pythonesque road trip, a testimony to the sometimes odd nature of friendship, and a rich historical yarn.

Amusing book related to the Holy Grail.......2007-01-04
If you've read/see the Da Vinci Code this is a must read book. The same basic idea, just a little more tongue in cheek.
Hilarious.......2006-02-10
What happens when a journolist and a punk rock legend go off to find the Holy Grail? Well read this to find out. An hilarious account of adventuring in the misty world that most people have only heard of due to The DaVinci Code. A good travel book and mystery book. Highly recommended.
If you are interested in the mystery of Rennes-le-Chateau, there are only 2 books you really need........2005-11-23
"Holy Blood Holy Grail" - and this one.
The first because - despite the fact that other books on the subject preceeded it - it's the one that really put the subject on the map. And Dawes' book because it's the only one I've read that really seems to pick up where the first one leaves off, with a very entertaining and comical, yet touchingly personal, spin. Is there anything to the mystery after all? Who knows? But with a book like this, the quest is just as beguiling a read as any blockbuster revelation could be.
the punk Da Vinci Code.......2005-09-03
Hilarious and irreverant true story of one man and his neighbour (who just happens to be the drummer from legendary punk band The Damned) who go on a quest to find the Holy Grail. A refreshing alternative to The Da Vinci Code. Completely insane in places.
Great entertainment!.......2005-08-10
Dawes presents an objective overview of an interesting historical mystery in this entertaining memoir/travelog. I highly recommend this book, it's well-written, informative, and fun.

Only the most devoted Python Fans need apply........2000-04-21
I picked up my copy (rarer U.K. release) 20 years ago when it was in regular publication. It is masterfully assembled and includes many production notes in addition to the complete script. If you can find a copy, you must get it.
A Comic Classic, With Special Insights.......2000-01-20
There's no justice in a world where this book has gone out of print. It's been rereleased at least once, but appears to be out of print as of January, 2000. This is a must-have for serious Python fans or fans of film comedy.
The book not only contains the screenplay for the film, complete with a nearly perfect (that is, nearly agreeing with the film) text, as well as the very different first draft of the text. Included are complete scenes that were cut (as in King Brian's court). There are great illustrations by Terry Gilliam as well as still photos from the set, both on camera and off.
Dig around, it's worth it!
This book is a classic. Especially for Monty Python fans.......1997-04-05
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a old tale supposedly taking place in the days of King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable. After God Himself appears to Arthur(played by Graham Chapman in the movie), and his knights, they are sent on an all-out hilarious quest for the Holy Grail(the cup Jesus drank from at the last supper) In their travels, they encouter a Three-Headed knight, Sir Lancelot's dangerous idiom, a castle full of virgins, a killer rabbit, an old man(from scene 24), and Oh the horrors! Oh the humanity! the dreaded Knights who say "Nee!"(Those who encouter them rarely live to tell the tale). This is a great and funny book for all age groups. It contains alot of British humor, but anyone will enjoy it. So, I suggest not waiting, but order this great book A.S.A.P!!!

A good investment for a Trinity player.......2000-07-20
I recieved this book today and I enjoyed reading it very much. The book has the standard front color section, and a back black-and-white section. The section on VARGS was informative and well thought out. This book offers many new toys for a creative player to use. However, some sections seemed lacking. The art in the beginning was decidedly below-par for White Wolf. Good book? Yes. Worth the 15.95 price? Maybe.
Good place for new ideas.......1999-08-09
I loved the Varg section of this book, it has given me many ideas for a campaign. It s a great point for ideas, and can enrich a campaign quite alot.
Well worth the money, and indispensible to a well-run game........1998-10-02
Althought parts of the book could be labelled dry or lacking, it provides a great deal of information on the technology of the world, and could (or should) serve as the launching pad for the storyteller's own ideas and creations. Just try to memorize all the details, though.
Much good info -- but not enough........1998-09-27
The Trinity Technology Manual has a lot going for it -- lots more toys for the players, detailed explanations of important technologies like computer agents -- but in some areas like bioware and personal electronics it is still somewhat lacking. Some other sections are also unnecessarily brief. Still worthwhile if you have the cash, though.

What's the secret to a company's continued growth and prosperity? Internationally known marketing expert
Al Ries has the answer: focus. His commonsense approach to business management is founded on the premise that long-lasting success depends on focusing on core products and eschewing the temptation to diversify into unrelated enterprises.
Using real-world examples, Ries shows that in industry after industry, it is the companies that resist diversification, and focus instead on owning a category in consumers' minds, that dominate their markets. He offers solid guidance on how to get focused and how to stay focused, laying out a workable blueprint for any company's evolution that will increase market share and shareholder value while ensuring future success.

When I started up my business..........2007-03-30
When I started up my business, AUDIN Web Design, I used this book as my bible. It has worked so well for me. Some people may find a lot of fluff in the book (which is true if you read all the other books by the same authors), but if you are fresh to the material you will find it invaluable. When searching for a name of my company, the book revealed to me that AUDIN should be the name of my Web Design Company. With that I focused and channeled my course of action. If only everyone abide by the laws set forth in this book, we wouldn't have everyone and anyone hawking everything under the sun (hint, hint: Amazon). Anyway, if you are in a small business an you are starting to lose your focus, get this book and read; read like you've never read before. Read until the cows come home. This stuff is gold, real gold.
A Must-Read For Corporate Execs.......2007-03-26
It's human nature among company managers to fall in love with their own brand, which makes them lose sight of the REAL issue, which is what the customer's perspective is. Rolex clocks? Porshe watches? These are two things I found at a recent trip to a high-end watch store which indicate Rolex and Porsche could be losing their focus.
This book gets 4 stars because it could be more concise.
Stay Focussed, Specialize, Own Your Niche, SURVIVE !.......2006-06-21
Focus delivers. This book by Al Ries, one of the world's best know marketing strategists, hones in on the benefits of the anti-intuitive practice of focusing. He calls the latest management craze of alliances, mergers and acquisitions a fad that has lessened efficiency and the bottom line. He says to re-focus instead of reengineer. Out of focus companies are less effective and their identity is blurred to customers. By focusing here is meant specializing in one area and becoming the best in that area.
Coca Cola stock is worth double that of Pepsi but Pepsi sells twice as much as Coke. The difference is that Coke specializes and Pepsi is all over the board with restaurants and drinks other than soft drinks. Convergence goes against the laws of nature and businesses. New species aren't formed by combining other species. New businesses rarely come from combining businesses but by splitting up business. Automobiles never combined with boats or airplanes, although there has been effort in this area. The automobile has divided into over 45 brands with 1000+ models.
GM in the early days was selling many less cars than Ford. Sloan saw that his many brands were competing with each other. He took each brand and made price-point steps out of them. They no longer competed agaist each other and soon enough GM owned half the market. Well GM didn't stay with this focus and now all of their lines compete with one another and the brand identities are very blurred. The market share for GM is now very low again. How does a company like this refocus?
There are many ways to refocus. You may start by 'owning' a word or a category. For instance Pizza Hut owns Pizza but Dominoes is known for 'delivery' and Ceasar's is known for 'take-out pizza.' Fed Ex is known for 'over-night delivery.' Sell off or rename parts of the organization that are not part of this focus. General Mills used to own companies in many different industries but experienced huge growth by selling them off and focusing on cereals.
A focus should be simple and with the times. That doesn't mean that you have to change with the times. Having two feet planted in the past is a focus that has worked for the Levis 501 brand for instance. But, if your product changes and evolves, your name may have to change with it to cut prior associative thinking. Always look for where the next focus will be in your niche. Bayer made the finest asprin but lost out when Johnson & Johnson released Tylenol, which was soon overshadowed by American Home Products introducing ibuprofen, and the latest is naproxen sodium pioneered by Proctor & Gamble - the Aleve brand.
Keep the focus simple, memorable (a claim that is unique) and powerful. The future belongs to companies with a clear focus today.
Five Focussed Stars
Focused, but undisiplined.......2004-04-24
I believe this book makes a valid point for the pularity of companies today. There are just enough tidbits to make the read worthwhile. However, I found the book frustrating. The author suffers from disclipine. He makes poor use of analogies and the book, while chock full of examples, could many times be examples of the contra opionion: diversification. The author would benifit from application of scientific rigor that would add depth and credibility to his copious but superficial use of examples. Perhaps exploring a corporate strategy of diversification would of given him the credibility I needed to swallow all his claims. Without it he comes off as someone who makes up his mind what position he wants and then grasps anything possible to support his ideal. For those interested in the subject I relay the maxim, "Concentrate when in control otherwise diversify."
A very good book.......2004-04-03
I have not finished this book yet, but I believe I am already benefited from the book. I won't be as puzzled and frustrated as I was, facing distractions and many seemingly attractive oppotunities in life and work. It lets me to realize the harmful effects of unfocused efforts. This is enough for me to rate this book 5 stars.
However, I also believe focus in real life is not a static thing. You have to focus in a way that does not lose the sight of what is happening around you. In other words, you have to re-evaluate your focusing path from time to time.
By the way, I got this book from a library book sale. It was an unfocused effort -- I was just out there trying to find something interesting.
