Chi Chi Larue gives it to you!.......1999-08-24
Oh come on and lighten up! This was a fun read.Yes, the business has a sordid reputation and Chi Chi does not really hold much back. Yes, he has a very good opinion of himself but why not? I think it was a nice companion to all that I have read about the industry. I've seen Chi Chi perform as well, and if you get a chance to catch her act on the road you won't be disappointed. Buy the book and you won't be disappointed either! I have friends in the industry and they seem to back up that this book is pretty acurate of what it is like to work for Chi Chi. It's a great book! Completely fun for fans and even people who don't particularly like porn (though I doubt you would even be on this page or reading this comment if you were not into porn!).

She has chosen to market in an area that people generally find an opinion out of ignorance and have know idea what the hell they are talking about. Live and let Live!
Chi Chi who?.......1998-08-24
Mr. Larue obviously thinks of himself as a world-famous superstar, but I doubt anyone outside the porn industry knows who he is. This book, at its best, reads like pitiful self-aggrandizement at the expense of the sacrificial, however willing they are, figures of porn, who last only briefly while directors go in search of new bodies. Mr. Larue is pictured laughing. Probably at whoever published this book.

Chi Chi LaRue certainly has a distorted picture about his fame and status. Outside of certain seedy circles, I doubt anyone has ever even heard of him, though he goes on and on about always being recognized and the downfalls of fame. A few men may know the name from watching porn, but does anyone really have a good idea of what this creature even looks like? The tales of giving blow jobs in dirty bathrooms and of people like Joey Stefano dying a drug-addicted mess paint a pretty clear picture of the life this person has chosen to lead, though he makes it sound like one big gay sex party. Chi Chi LaRue comes off as pathetic and insecure. Depressing.

Musical excerpts help improve this otherwise over priced text.
You can easily find books that are much more helpful than this one. Brock McElheran's Conducting technique for beginners is much more relevant and informative, not to mention way cheaper. Anything by Elizabeth Green would also be great. I believe the problem with the book is that it relies too much on defining gesture. Whenever gesture rather than music is the source of information for your conducting, you will have problems. The irony is that people (conductors and performers alike) become so concerned with maintaining a clear beat pattern and that everything is 'correct' that they disregard the music.
One good thing in the book is the large number of musical examples and excerpts. Over half of the book is dedicated to excerpts of good music that present a variety of challenges. This does raise one large question, though. Why not just have the students buy the McElheran and use scores that they bought and can later use in their own classroom or with their own ensemble? It seems that many people find the collection of excerpts helpful, though. It would be ridiculous to require students to buy even half of the score that are represented in this book.
The challenge in writing a text on conducting is that it needs to be helpful to all sorts of people. Different people will need different help, and the book attempts to cater to this variety. However, Labuta's attempt to inform the least knowledgeable people brings the level of the book so far down that it looses meaning after you can conduct a six pattern.

I bought this book because it was written by same author who wrote "Beyond the Downbeat." I thought DB/ UB was sort of prerequisite to BTD. It was not. I would not say it was money well spent.

If you want to know every beat pattern, this is the book for you. I was looking for a more in-depth look at cueing, cut-offs, how to use both hands. I found it slightly helpful but covered very very little. I read the entire book in 9 minutes.

I do not think this is a good book. The diagrams are not great because the patterns are not very good. The editing on the music is also not very good and sometimes there is to much for such a short work. I would go with a better book like the Rudolph.

Learning to conduct........2000-10-25
This book was an OK source for learning the basics of conducting. It was well illustrated with pictures of the beat patterns and proper body language, but it was at times a little to over bearing. Terminology was sometimes overused and over the readers head. I feel that it is still a good manual because it teaches you not only instrumental conducting, but choral as well. Including how to conduct a chorus and a orchestra simultaneously. If you are a beginner, this book is for you.

It was OK.......2003-11-28
This book was OK, and I would give it 3 1/2 stars. It leves out some of the details, and sometimes skips ahead to a different area without telling you how to get ther. I could eventually figure out what they were saying, it just took a little while. I didn't really like the order they put certain things in, and most of the minigame things that you do (like collecting heart pieces) are in the back, unlike some books, where they tell you if there is a heart piece or something. Overall it was OK, but I would wait for one from Versus Books

This is the only Prima book that I have that is unhelpful. The game is already hard. Why couldn't they give more detail and put things in order.
The masks, pieces of heart, ans everything else are not in order the way you're suppose to get them in the game.
Conclusion: The Brady Games guide is much more helpful than this [...].
The Ultimate Majora's Mask Book.......2002-05-22
This is a great strategy guide to buy if you are new to the Zelda world, and decided to buy Majora's Mask. That's me. This book is really great!!!! It tells you how to get the Couples Mask, which is the hardest to get, and a whole MESS of other things.
One thing though: don't use it as a walkthrough, because then you just killed the replay value of Majora's Mask a little. I should know: I did use it as a walkthrough.
Confusing and not well written.......2002-04-04
First off, DO NOT BUY THIS!! This book may help you get the masks, but not only are there mistakes in the book (as to where the fairys are) but the directions are confusing. Buy the official guide from Nintendo. Prima's player guide gives confusing directions and is a pain to decipher, I had to collect all the fairys from one of the temples because the book missed the location of one of the fairys. Using the guide to help me complete the water temple was a pain! It gave confusing directions by telling you to go North or South, East or West, and that is very difficult especially when you are located in a temple. I suggest that you buy the Nintendo guide instead of this. Nintendo gives specific directions (such as leave through the red door, etc) and is detailed with accurate maps and such. Don't buy this guide, it doesn't help you very much, and you may as well try to complete the game without the help of this book at all its so confusing and badly written.
THE BEST GUIDE FOR ZELDA EVER!!!!.......2001-11-29
When i bought this guide i had already finshed the game and found most of the secrets i bought it because i wanted to find out where the last couple of masks were. When i opened the book i was amazed at how detailed it was i got all the masks including the adult mask and i found out where are lot more secrets are... A MUST HAVE FOR ANY ZELDA FAN

When I first got this book, I was very disappointed. It made alot of picture errors, where they paste the picture in the wrong place. They made things more complicated than before. I was stuck in Stone Tower for 3 months because I couldn't figure out how to flip it upside down. I have only one word; IT STINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had both the Nintendo and the Prima guide for this game. According to my son, this is the better book if you just want the hints and don't want the guide to spoil the game for you. Also, he said that this guide has better pictures.

This book was very very helpful during my journey to save Princess Zelda. It contains a fold-out poster, too. I cannot fully describe all of the information that helped me out during the game! Buy this if you need Zelda help for the N64 or Gamecube version!!

Parker and Hoffman's newest book, Meeting Excellence is a first-class, practical guide to preparing and conducting meetings. It is a well-organized work that will have high utility for any meeting facilitator.
The book's chapters are heavily cross-referenced and loaded with well researched and proven tips, techniques and templates for setting up, running and evaluating meetings.
Of particular interest in today's complex world are chapters titled, Communicating in a Videoconference, Teleconference Tips, and Achieving Clear Communications in a Multicultural Meeting. They are short, clear and to the point.
Expert facilitators may be particularly interested in two of the entries in the Resources section: What Would You Do? Problem Scenarios for Meeting Facilitators, and Your Final Exam. The latter is a set of 25 multiple choice questions. Instead of the standard answer set you would expect to find at the end of such a quiz, the authors provide answer "clues" that cleverly loop the reader back to relevant chapters.
Even as an experienced facilitator, I found myself underlining and flagging page after page. I've copied check lists and reminders to take with me into important meetings. I keep it close at hand and refer to it often when prepping for my next meeting. Well worth the price and the time it takes to read this book.
Excellent Toolkit.......2006-12-06
Hoffman and Parker have produced a high quality piece of work by coming up with pragmatic, clear and practical book on effective meeting management. This easy to read and use book is among the best on the market on meeting design, facilitation and management.
After reading this book, the reader will realize that meetings need not be just a nuisance and total waste of time and resources, but can be a very effective tool for the success of an organization if it is effectively managed.
All in all, the authors have offered solid and timely advice to help managers ensure that meetings presentations are professional and effective, everyone participates in the discussion, conflicts are effectively resolved, the meeting is kept lively, there is focus on achieving meeting goals and managers can choose among several internet based meeting tools, among other benefits. A very useful book that is well worth reading.
A Necessary Book.......2006-12-04
Parker and Hoffman have a written a very needed book. It is a book that everyone who leads meetings or group discussions should keep on their desks. The book provides us with the needed tools to understand and lead effective group discussions. Parker and Hoffman not only tell us what to do but how to do it. Though only recently purcahsed i have already found myself thumbing through the book on several occassions looking for and finding the guidance i have needed. Of particular assistance has been their chapter three on How to Prepare an Action Agenda. Do not let anyone borrow this book it is not likely to be returned.
Deadly meetings no more.......2006-11-10
Meeting Excellence is an extremely useful book. As its sub title suggests, Parker &Hoffman have consciously chosen to give their readers a toolkit versus a tome. They're smart for going that route and have, in my view, done a terrific job. Few organizations make meeting facilitation a priority - hence we don't see many meeting leaders getting very good at it. But for those who have the self awareness and the self interest for improving their productivity, this book is a must read. What's useful is that the book is written in an extremely readable style and organized in a format that works well for the novice meeting leader as well as the pro. They cover the landscape from ice-breakers to ensuring post meeting effective action and include vital tips on handling the land mines associated with tele/video-conference meetings as well. They even have a fun, short piece on integrating food into the meeting leading strategy. And although committed to the micro- toolkit approach, Parker &Hoffman are smart in recognizing that there's also a big picture to this challenge and have included a brief but excellent Fast Company article called: The Seven Sins of Deadly Meetings. It helps the reader frame the challenge and puts the toolkit in a helpful context. All in all Parker and Hoffman have made an excellent contribution to the noble and worthy cause of making our meetings less deadly and less sinful.
A perfectly accurate title.......2006-08-08
Meeting excellence - The name says it all. I've been working in the field of Management consulting and education for over 30 years and have not come across another book as practical, clear, and frankly useful as Meeting Excellence when it comes to planning, facilitating or following up on meetings where it's important to have the entire group engaged and involved.
Parker and Hoffman have put together not only a framework for planning, executing and evaluating meetings, but have organized it in such a way to make the topics accessible to any one, whether experienced or novice at meeting management.
The subtitle "tools" is accurate. As a framework and comprehensive "toolkit" Meeting Excellence functions extremely well. As a reference for specific topics related to meeting planning and facilitation I know of no other resource as well organized and well written. Specifically, the 33 tools cover meeting issues such as how to prepare an action agenda, how to open a meeting, conduct a teleconference, facilitate a video conference, communicate in a multicultural meeting, make effective decisions, liven up a dreary meeting, close a meeting on a positive note, prepare meeting notes and follow-up on meeting outcomes. These areas are especially important today, when most of a manager's, executive's or individual contributor's time is engaged in meeting attendance or facilitation.
I can easily and assuredly recommend this book for anyone who leads any meetings where discussion, decision making, implementation, change or projects and initiatives need capable, clear and effective leadership. In other works, this book will be valuable to anyone involved in meetings at any level.
