5 out of 5 stars Kanga Grows Tall.......2005-09-16

One year old grandson can't stop laughing when Kanga starts to grow tall. It's a favorite of his so I purchased a second copy for my new granddaughter. The Book is very simple and clear - LONG & SHORT, IN & OUT, UP & DOWN, etc.

5 out of 5 stars It's a Favorite!.......2001-10-30

My 20 month old son loves this book! We've had it for almost a year and he still reads it over and over again. Before, he loved watching me pull out the inner cards, but he is now able to do it by himself. It's like having a brand new toy. We are buying another since this one has seen it's better days.

5 out of 5 stars Come Visit Pooh and all of his friends.......2000-06-05

My 11 month old loves to look at this book. It has simple pictures that are bright and colorful. We have fun going through this book with all of it's interactive pages. This book teachs kids the difference between up and down, few and many, over and under, big and little. We love watching "Tigger's" tale grow from being short to very long. The words are simple for a young reader also. This book is excellent for any young toddler to start reading with. We hope that you have as much fun reading with Pooh and all of his friends as we do.

5 out of 5 stars My Child's favorite book!.......2000-02-03

My 8 month old baby loves books and this one is her absolute favorite - she sits and "reads" it forever! She will dig through her toy basket to find it - It is a great interactive book!

5 out of 5 stars THIS GUIDE CERTAINLY WORKED FOR ME!.......2007-01-08

Not being a "game" person, I must admit to having to struggle through the most simple of computer and other electronic type games. I simply could not have completed this one on my own. If this guide helped me, then I certainly feel it would be helpful to anyone! Ghe graphics in this book are excellent and the instructions are quite easy to follow. Recommened this one highly.

                      4 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......2004-10-24

This is a really good guide, I had a copy of this, but it was like five years old, and the pages fell out. But before, it was really a good guy, and it helped me out of a few tight spots. The one thing I think it could have is more puzzle-help. Especially the one in Forest Temlpe, the one where you have to move the crescent blocks. But, it might have had it, that pages has been missing in my copy for years. Overall, excellent. Highly recommended. Being a kid (-13) myself, I can say that most kids will find this easy to understand and comprehend, and the complete maps, listings, and charts are very clear!

                      4 out of 5 stars A pretty good guide.......2003-07-11

This is a great companion to the game. It is descriptive and offers a number of strategies for certain situations. I noticed a couple of flaws in it, but nothing major. For example, in the back where it describes where to find all the gold skultulas, it usually has what you need to get it, what dungeon or town it is in, and where it is in the dungeon or town. However, one of them had the dungeons in one column, but what you need to use to get it in two coulmns, so I had no idea where to find it, even after searching. I think there is another flaw, but that is about it. They are very minor and don't take away the fact that this is a great guide!

5 out of 5 stars This is one great book!.......2003-05-24

P.S. This guide is the best!

                      5 out of 5 stars Lifesaver.......2003-04-27

This book takes you step by step and the descriptions are clear. Although it may take a while to acutally complete the game while trying to read a player's guide at the same time, it does not take away from the excitement.

And a big plus would be that this guide doesn't take away from the plot. BEWARE those that do!

The Zelda games from Nintendo comprise one of the best and most popular series of video games ever produced--and with good reason. Each title is more impressive than the last, with a larger game world, a richer story, and even more challenging puzzles. The latest entry, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, is by far the biggest and best of the bunch--but it's also the toughest, which is why you'll need a hand from BradyGames' excellent strategy guide. With a slick layout and tons of useful information, BradyGames' guide to Zelda is basically your one-stop shop for the prospective adventurer. Starting out with a quick description of the major characters, the book goes on to provide in-depth info on the gameplay basics, such as how to use the controls effectively and how to make the best use of Link's Ocarina. Additionally, the book describes each of the objects and weapons you'll come across in the game. The rest of this guide walks you through every quest, with screen shots and maps to help you get Link through in one piece. Over the course of your journey, you can also turn to the guide to find all of the game's secrets and to pick up helpful hints for each of the mini-games. --Michael Ryan

Well I can't get further on the trail up to the volcano!
I don't know how to get past the boulders.If.....I had the guide, it would do a lot of help.I rememberd that I had a dream a long time ago that was just like princess Zelda had.

3 out of 5 stars It's a decent deal for the price. BAD choice of colors.......2004-04-17

First off, I'm going to give everyone a disclaimer and say that I haveN'T beat the whole game yet, and I've looked at no more than half the guide.

It seems >complete enough <. For a color guide with a MSRP of only ten dollars, with listings of all the equipment, gold skulltulas, and heart pieces, as well as what they do/what they're used for, what mode equipment you need, and what you need to be in (adult/young Link) It's at the very least a decent bargain.

Unfortunately, Not all of the stuff is listed in the correct place. The skulltulas are but the only shining example I can think of to illustrate this. The chart that lists the skulltulas, equipment requirements, and mode only list 57 of the 100 of them. However, all of them listed are outside the dungeons. You'll still find the rest if you read the dungeon walkthroughs. Would've been nice to have them included in that handy chart list as well, as what's the point of having everything in one handy location if you still need to flip through other parts of the book to find them?

My final gripe with this guide is that for portions of the walkthroughs and descriptions, you have black colored font on brown/dark grayish backgrounds. Sure, the backgrounds look neat, but it always makes it harder (not impossible goodness forbid) to read the words and distinguish bold type from regular type. Flip thorugh the pages yourself to judge this. Amazon let's you preview the first 10 pages or so. A guide should be as easy as possobile to follow, and those choice of colors just don't help out.

My main reason that this guide got 3 stars and NOT 2 was mainly b/c this guide is about 5 to 10 dollars cheaper than most of the competition, so I can kind of forgive missing some info here and there. My two gripes above will be my "ten dollar lesson" for next time to flip through as much of a guide as possible, compare the layout and material to other guides, THEN take price into consideration.

1 out of 5 stars Worst Guide ever.......2003-10-21

Talk about everything revealed. Not only does this guide have terrible descriptions, misleading maps, and other things, it doesn't tell you where everything is. This is frustrating when you try to get 100 skulltulas and it gives you 56! I don't care how much you love bradygames, you've never used a guide by this author. Do not be fooled by those other reviews. Trust me, they haven't ever looked at the guide. JUST DON'T GET THIS GUIDE!!!

We had both the Nintendo and the Prima guide for this game. According to my son, this is the better book if you just want the hints and don't want the guide to spoil the game for you. Also, he said that this guide has better pictures.

                        Book Description

The critics who despair of the coming of imaginative, charismatic leaders to replace the so-called manipulative caretakers of American corporations don't tell us much about what leadership actually is, or, for that matter, what management is either. Now, John P. Kotter, who focused on why we have a leadership crisis in The Leadership Factor shows here, with compelling evidence, what leadership really means today, why it is rarely associated with larger-than-life charismatics, precisely how it is different from management, and yet why both good leadership and management are essential for business success, especially for complex organizations operating in changing environments.

Leadership, Kotter clearly demonstrates, is for the most part not a god-like figure transforming subordinates into superhumans, but is in fact a process that creates change -- a process which often involves hundreds or even thousands of "little acts of leadership" orchestrated by people who have the profound insight to realize this. Building on his landmark study of 15 successful general managers, Kotter presents detailed accounts of how senior and middle managers in major corporations, in close concert with colleagues and subordinates, were able to create a leadership process that put into action hundreds of commonsense ideas and procedures that, in combination with competent management, produced extraordinary results.

This leadership turned NCR from a loser to a big winner in automated teller machines, despite intense competition from IBM. The same process at American Express and SAS helped businesses grow dramatically despite the fact that they were "mature" and "commodity-like." Kotter also shows how leadership turned around operations at P&G and Kodak; produced huge business successes at PepsiCo, ARCO, and ConAgra; and made the impossible occasionally happen at Digital.

Thousands of companies today are overmanaged and underled, John Kotter concludes, not because managers lack charisma, but because far too few executives have a clear understanding of what leadership is and what it can accomplish. Without such a vision, even the most capable people have great difficulty trying to lead effectively and to create the cultures which will help others to lead.

4 out of 5 stars Important Subject, Good Book.......2004-07-21

My advice is to purchase John Kotter's article that this book came out of from the Harvard Business Review. It's title is "What Leaders Really Do: How Leadership Differs From Management". The article covers the subject well enough and I do highly recommend it!! Very Important.

5 out of 5 stars Unique perspective on leadership.......2002-12-30

I purchased this book for research as part of a recent MBA class paper and I was not disappointed. Kotter stands alone in defining the differences between "management" and "leadership". All of the other works that I reviewed (Bennis, "On Becoming a Leader; Bennis and Nanus, "Leaders"; Fiedler, and Follett)use the terms interchangably.

Of equal importance were the specific differences that he cited along with the examination of whether or not leaders were made or born. This is not the classical trait theory approach but is well reasoned and balanced. Lastly, Kotter specifies the type of scenarios which call for leadership competencies.

I recommend this book highly for anyone wanting to understand how leadership truly differs from management and how the two functions interrelate. Other leadership books seem to emphasize examples of great leaders without the research, balance, or depth of Kotter.

                        2 out of 5 stars Rather unhelpful.......2000-10-06

This book contains John Kotter's usual dose of platitudes and blindingly obvious insights. Anyone that gets anything useful out of this book is far too dumb to lead anything at all, except perhaps a hollow and meaningless life.

How he has gotten the world to swallow this nonsense book after book, each one a rehash of his previous mishmash of meaningless business speak ("energizing your employees") and vague, unfollowable axioms about, for example, "having vision," is beyond me. But perhaps I just haven't achieved my full alignment potential.

Honestly, seeing this book up on the shelves of seemingly intelligent business people baffles me. Especially since it sits next to works by other self-help authors who dish out the same insubstantial pap book after book. And keep landing on the bestseller list! If you really want to learn how to be a highly effective person, spend some time playing with your children. Bring your spouse some flowers. Read a worthwhile book. Now those are platitudes worth living by.

5 out of 5 stars Another great work.......2000-03-05

John Kotter has done a superb job in distinguishing the differences between leadership and management. This is often attempted yet rarely accomplished with such vivid and compelling examples and documented research. If you want to know the differences, get this book....

Another great, easy-to-read, and popular leadership book my company uses successfully for management development and training is strongly recommended: "The Leader's Guide: 15 Essential Skills."
