This is not a book for the squeamish. Disturbingly violent, sexual, and despairing, it is the autobiographical confession of an eternally restless man. It is the life story of Klaus Kinski, the superb screen actor who died in 1991. Kinski, who played in memorable films by David Lean, Sergio Leone, and Billy Wilder, is best known for his roles in Werner Herzog's Aguirre: The Wrath of God and Nosferatu the Vampyre. With graphic detail, Kinski narrates his excessive sexual exploits and fanatical adoration of his son. This book unravels the pitch-dark inner life of an actor who specialized in playing insane people, a man who well understood the psychology of the characters he portrayed.

Real but Raunchy.......2007-08-01
You need to be a true Klaus Kinski fan to get past his vulgar descriptions of all his sexual experiences, but you do get a real insight into what makes Klaus tick. Despite his wanting to NOT be the stereotypical "hard to work with actor," HE WAS! Moody, and very hard to work with, it's amazing he got work at all. Despite, his simplistic and often smutty writing style, it's worth the read, just to get into the mind of the actor-Kinski...
The most debasing autobiography ever written.......2007-03-23
Kinski Uncut is nothing shy of probably the most shameless life ever described on the page. For Kinski there is no humiliation is saying that he is a machine who has done every actress or female he has met, giving them babies and just then walking away. Kinski demeans everyone about him including his family and degrades society to a monstrously outlandish category of stupidity.
Kinski describes himself as simply genius and naturally talented as an actor in demand who has been ever chased by the government for not paying taxes. Between bouts of prison on tax evasion charges and how he can have any role he pleases, he boosts of everything in a skirt which he has touched including mothers and daughters at the same time... while even contemplating grandma. Kinski Uncut is filth. The man is walking defilement. He is emotionally impaired. He is an adulterer and corrupt, driven by an unparalleled egomania.
This novel reads like an embarrassment. The indignity of this man and his pride knows no bounds. Most of the pages are very uncomfortable and unsettling. Yes hysterically funny at times and the descriptions are up there with the likes of Kafka or Poe but we are still mortified by the fact that this is a man who was considered a very fine actor who when paired with the art house director Werner Herzog brought genre defining epics to Cannes.
The key here to understanding Kinski Uncut is to also see "My Best Fiend" by Herzog, a documentary about his pal Kinski who passed away in 1991 from heart failure, in which he tells us some important things about Kinski. Kinski is a liar. In short "Kinski Uncut" is probably 95% fiction except for the parts Kinski couldn't lie about, there are wives mentioned who do not exist and actors and actresses who do not exist either. So the question is why did Kinski leave such writings behind him? Why defame himself with such open barbarity? Why offend us?
The truth is simply this... it made Kinski feel big. Hell it made him feel like a giant to shock us all with his smear campaign against God and humanity. Everyone else was a load of stinking brown smelly stuff, open to criticize and as for those he could get something from, they were his for the taking... and he took. Kinski is all about himself. It did not matter what he said or did as long as it was about him. So here we find ourselves reading trees killed for layers of lies because the man wanted our attention from beyond the grave.
While it isn't exactly encouraging to know that this is a work of fiction, this is still for Kinski or Herzog completists. If you like Kinski's work or Herzog then don't stop and get this today. You will enjoy it. However "My Best Fiend" is heaps better.
A Masterpiece .......2006-12-06
When I started reading this book,I could not put it down.I was so amazed by it.I thought it was one of the greatest autobiographies I have ever read.Anybody who is a Klaus Kinski fan should pick up this book and read it.People who are not fans of his or don`t even know who is sould read this masterpiece of book. This book is written by Kinski himself. This book is not readable by everybody. Some people may think it is complete trash.I think it is complete gold.
The book goes through the poverty Kinski suffered with as a child up to his rise as a great german actor.Of course there is way more to the book than that.It tells about his three wives and his three children. One of the children being the famous actress Nastassja Kinski. It tells about that, but most of the book spotlights on his sex life.
He sure did have a lot of sex.It cheated constantly on all of his wives. It talks about so many different encounters with women it will make your head spin. One of my favorite parts of the book is when he talks about a stewardess on a plane and how the go into the airplane`s bathroom.Kinski sure explains and describes all of it.He sure does have a filthy mouth.I was about to die from laughter when I read his dirty filthy mouth. It also talks about an incest relationship with his sister.
I could see why so many women did make love with him. I was a really sexy man.He was one of the most talented actors ever.I thought he should of gotten bigger roles than he did.I have watched a ton of his movies,I have loved all of them.He had so much sex appeal that a lot of women like me are turned on by.I was sad to find out that he died of a heart attack in 1991.I think this book is must read.I love Klaus Kinski
Powerful autobiography of tortured actor.......2005-10-28
Kinski's autobiography is the life of a tortured human who cannot be fullfilled or find peace without his other half...Minhoi and their son.
This book is definately not pornographic as many people describe it. Those people miss the point that with his Don Juanism Kinski is trying to fill his need for relationship to other beings. His descriptions, that go beyond mentioning a sexual contact, are loving and tender. They also give testament to his need for love and attachment.
His description of a liason with an older prostitute is filled with tenderness for her and her situation. He tries to give her some love and feeling of being wanted as a person, not just as a sexual object.
His relationship with Minhoi is one of complete mutual dependence and deep love between two people. But because of his need to be with her at every minute the marriage is destroyed but not the mutual love.
This is a beautiful and tragic story of one person's longing to belong but unable to attain that which he most desires.
A dirty, filthy little man.......2004-08-09
I'm a big fan of biographies, namely because, as the saying goes , truth is stranger than fiction. The only bios I don't bother with are the ones about writers, who tend to generally lead pretty boring lives. Klaus Kinski was an internationally reknowned actor, from Poland, who did his best work in the 60s and 70s, mostly with German director Werner Herzog. I must say that this is one of the most bizarre bios I've ever read. It's basically Kinski spewing forth his thoughts on art (which he views with impossible idealism), other actors and artists (whom he pretty much spits on) and the rest of book is basically about his sex life. Its an absolutely hilarious book. Kinski goes on and on about hundreds of sexual encounters, claiming that he has a vast love for people that he just can't contain, so it manifests itself sexually. He doesn't spare us many details (one of my favourite recollections is about his encounter with some giant woman with an abundant moustache). Honestly, I don't believe the guy. He has this hint of machismo that makes it seem like he's lying about his virility. It's not a very flattering autobiography either. Kinski was a restless, irresponsible cad who cared only about himself. He left his women high and dry on numerous occasions and even describes his daughter, Nastassja, as a good reason to allow retroactive abortions. The guy was thoroughly despicable and full of delusions of his own grandeur, but it's a fascinating read. Definitely a summer beach read as you won't expend much brain power. Read it and laugh at how someone willingly and foolishly goes about destroying his own life. Fun stuff.

Customer Reviews:
Decent book, but very basic.......2007-08-07
this is a book about limit poker for a beginner. Not for the advanced player as the front of the book reads. But if you are a beginner, it seems like it should do a decent job at teaching. I was disappointed, but I've been playing foraa couple of years.
great book for my boyfriend.......2007-05-30
I bought this book for my boyfriend in Jan. He had been getting in to playing poker and wanted to learn more about Texas Hold Em. I checked out other books on Amazon, but decided to go w/ this one. Good thing I did because he LOVED it. He even looked over some other books in the store and said this was the one he would have chosen for himself.
Great book for learning how to analyze cards.......2007-01-20
This was one of the first poker books I got, and its layout was a great help. It starts with some basic principles, then jumps headfirst into 150 different scenarios, where you're asked how to play it further. Purdy provides the full odds and play situation, then his detailed answer on how you could play it, what could happen, and how he'd play it. It helped me greatly with understanding the strength of pocket cards and reading the board, plus analyzing what pocket hands would beat my made hands.
That said, the book's biggest weakness is the promotion of very tight play, plus an emphasis on using your cards as the sole determinant of whether or not to play hands. Strong pocket hands are rare, and players who put this to practice in real tournaments often will watch their stacks slowly disappear and get blinded off, going out of tournaments with a whimper. You will rarely see hands strong enough to play, and when you do, there is no guarantee you'll have a playable hand, let alone the winning hand, once the cards hit the table. The book also doesn't emphasize enough the importance of playing position, though it does go into detail how you play different based on chip counts. However, the book's scenarios often have you playing with a chip lead: obviously, as a beginner, you're not going to be in such a situation very often.
It's great for beginners picking up basic principles on pocket and hand analysis, plus elements of situational tournament play. Once you master its principles, though, you'll want to move up and read more advanced materials. Recommendations are all over the internet. However, I would suggest reading this before reading the convoluted strategy manuals that are popular today.
A good 2nd book on THE - Useful despite errors.......2006-12-04
This book contains a systematic error in its crucial table of opening hand strength on page 24-25. (It purports to give the odds a given hand has of winning when up against one other hand, but its numbers are too low for all hands but AA; the weighted average win rate should be 50%, but more than half the hands are showing win rates of less than 5%.) And there are better sources for systematic starting hand strength, generally using Slansky-style Groups 1 through 8 -- buy one of those first.
But I learned a lot from many of the situations in this book; most of the time where the book disagreed with my initial perception, the book convinced me with its logic. But sometimes Purdy missed something (in situation #146, your best hope is actually to get a fourth 3 on the turn or river, giving you the nut hand with your Ace kicker). And sometimes he made an error in drawing odds (and yes, I know that, say, 20% = 1/5 = 4-to-1); in the same situation the odds of getting an A or 10 on the turn alone are are 6.8-to-1 (not 11-to-1 as stated) and the odds of A, T or 3 are 5.7 to 1. (7 outs, for 40-to-7).
You have pot odds to call because there are probably no face-card pocket pairs (there was no raising pre-flop) and the odds are only 12/47 that anyone still in holds a 3 (6 callers saw the flop), and probably less than that since 3 is not a power card (it had more than average odds of being folded, except perhaps if it happened to be held as A3s). With pot odds you should at least call, not fold.
Low limit player, on the right track.......2006-11-10
I have been playing twice a week for a year now at a 4-8 game. Usual win rate of about 8 out of 10 sessions. This book helped to reinforce I was playing right most of the time and pointed out where I had some holes. I'd recommend for the average low limit player who thinks they are on the right track.

Toilet Paper of a book........2006-12-08
I purchased a large lot of poker books on ebay, and this one came with it.
What a stupid book filled with absolutely terrible advice!
The other reviews have covered it pretty well, so I won't bother fulminating any further. DO NOT, REPEAT, DO NOT purchase this moronic book. It contains nothing that will be of any use to you.
If you want poker books, stick to the Supersystems, the Sklansky offerings, Harringtons books and maybe a couple McEvoys. And Bill Chens new book.
Books like this one are precisely the sort of poker book that only exists for the sake of selling to people who just don't know any better.
amazon forces me to give this book one star, or else I would give it zero stars.
Maybe the worst place to put your money...........2006-09-06
Mike Miller's review is right on target. I would add that if you play as passively as Warren recommends, you will not be maximizing your winnings. (It took me about a month to figure that out). After buying and reading some GOOD poker books, I became a winning player, and so my acquaintances often ask me which poker books they should buy. If it's a person I like, I tell him/her to buy the Super System books and the Harrington books. If it's a person I DON'T like, I tell him/her to buy Ken Warren's books. Need I say more?
Excellent Read!.......2006-08-31
If you're ready to take the plunge into playing for cash this is the book for you!
It is extremely well-written and far easier to understand than any other Hold'Em book on the market today. I mean seriously, why confuse yourself with foreign terms like "value bet" or "+/-EV"? Ken Warren lays it out for everyone to understand.
Warren has lots of great advice for you, I mean check-raising with nothing and all you need is "perfect/perfect", that is always going to win you a lot of money. And, I take Warren's advice on pocket Aces one step further. I used to play those a lot and now I tend to fold them before I even have to see a flop. I mean the chances of you getting another Ace on the flop are probably like 1 in 136 or something, and if you don't get another one, what do you have? Nothing but a pair, chances are that's not going to win you a lot.
The thing about people with tatoos is dead on. I was in Las Vegas (Goat Herder convention) and I went to play some Hold'em at the Horseshoe. Well I was following all of the advice and I'm doing okay but not great and these two guys come in with tatoos all over their arms. They must have weighed 350 pounds a piece and they were wearing all of this leather and crazy jewlery plus they had these big beards (Ken doesn't mention anything about facial hair but I think that's stupid too so it looked like a win-win for me here). So anyway, they sit down and all I can see are dollar signs. Well sure enough, they're both pretty stupid, they've won a couple of pots with some high, suited cards but they completely failed to adjust when the low cards start coming out. So we're on the low card cycle for a while and I get dealt deuce-deuce. The big-blind is right next to me and for whatever reason that means I have to go first. So I decide that I'm gonna try and lure the stupid guys in and just call. So the first dummy raises and then his buddy re-raises! A bunch of people fold for some reason and I decide to put in the last possible raise (called "hatting" the pot). So the dummies are locked in and the flop comes out Ace, three, King. I have to go first again so I bet and then both of the idiots raise and re-raise again. I can't believe my luck so I put in three more to get the most in there and they both call. The next card out is a two! So now I have three of them and the same betting happens only this time it's like twice as much as before. Then the last card gets dealt (always face-up) and it's another two! So now I have all four! And the morons come right along and do the same thing. So then we all have to flip over our cards and I show them my pocket twos and the first tatoo-head throws two Aces at me and the second one starts laughing this crazy laugh and turns over two Kings. I mean with all of the small cards that were winning why in the world were they even playing those? Anyway, to make a long story shorter, they followed me outside after I left and one of them accidently hit me several times in the face when I was trying to explain their mistake to them. Needless to say I missed the, "I think my goat is sick, is it?" seminar and spent the night in the hospital.
I could go on and on but I need to stop and give you a chance to pick this book up.
Note: I have never read anything by Ken Warren but based on previous reviews, I can tell that this book will be good for you.
Additional Note: By "you" I mean "my opponent".
Ken Warren's winner's guide to common sense.......2006-08-16
From Ken Warren's Winner's Guide to Texas Hold'em Poker--
"Hot Tip: If you do run out of cigarettes while you're playing and you feel that it will affect your play, then I strongly recommend that you go ahead and pay whatever it takes to get a cigarette between your lips again. Three dollars for a pack of cigarettes is a small price to pay compared to what you could losing playing poker while fretting over a cigarette."
Again, this was Ken's "Hot Tip." If you want to find out how to improve your play, skip this book. And if you're a smoker, I'm sure you don't need someone telling you when to buy cigs, especially in a book that isn't even related to smoking cessation.
probably the worst book ever.......2006-04-07
Well I'm not even sure where to begin. The advice in this book must be intended to steer new players in the wrong direction. I do not understand how Warren feels it is ok to check a set of kings or queens, but then says you should not do this with a set of aces. Also Warren feels that a good way to judge a bad poker player is if they have a tatto because, "Anyone dumb enough to have themself tattooed probably won't exhibit a lot of intelligence at the poker table. They will unknowingly follow your lead at the poker table." (I swear this is a direct quote) If you want a book that has such idiotic assumptions and misleading strategies as these then this book is for you.

Excellent guide for todays business leader.......2007-09-03
This book is an excellent guide for today's business leader, in helping him or her develop a comprehensive understanding of what is important to run a business, and also, what needs to be regularly tracked, managed and metered such that you are in tune with what is going on, and can steer successfully in the turbulent business climate of today. Hats off to Mr. Niven for his insights and understanding of business today, and the needs of the business leaders of today and tomorrow.
Step-by-step to answers.......2007-08-20
I really recommended this book to anyone who are interesting to implement BSC methodology. For those who has some BSC ground and try to put BSC in work this book will clarify each dilemmas they face by searching through BSC methodology (who, how and why?). It is the best guidelines to implement BSC because Niven drive us easily from the beginning of project to the implementation with all necessary data.
Book is easily to read and completely applicable.
Practical application of Kaplan and Norton.......2007-07-30
As a MBA (Enterprise) student I found this book very useful in the preparation of a balanced scorecard for an assessment. The book by Niven was well structured and informative with interesting stories of the author's application of the scorecard in real world settings. As someone who has limited experience in this area the book was very helpful in the initial stages of the preparation of a strategy map and scorecard. Consequently, I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to implement a scorecard as the text provides an excellent outline of the development of a scorecard.
Good Know How for inexperience colsultants.......2007-01-03
As we are trying to build up the Balance Scorecard in our company, we have read the material published by Norton and Kaplan and also we had trainig on BSC as well.
We have found this book useful because of the experience that the author transfer for new consultants that are in the begining of building up the strategy map and the scorecard, full of theory but no practice at all.
Well organized, well written....nice to read........2005-10-29
Mr. Niven has done an excellent job. It is easier and more entertaining to read his book than the books by the masters of BSC (Kaplan and Norton).
The book is well organized, the order of the topics is very logical and easy to follow. When he summarizes concepts, he does it very well, writing just enough to discuss the subject.
Implementing BSC is not an easy task, but with this book you have a very good guide.
I would say that Mr. Niven has outperformed his teachers!!!
