Good ideas.......2007-02-09
This books offers a number of well thought out bathrooms, mostly modern in design, accompanied with beautiful photographs. The styles tend towards the minimal so don't consider this book if ou are more traditional in sensibility./

We all need fun AND structure!.......2006-07-14
Half of this resource is taken up with words in dark type to copy on suggested colors of tag that you cut without lines, and will no doubt be helpful to those in a hurry or without the expensive chart word wall packages or another system you prefer. Although I prefer another way of printing out words and organize them vertically, I still rated this resource five stars because of the structured weekly plan and routines that will keep you accountable, help children know what to do when, and assist as you plan without eliminating fun. I teach K-3 special ed, and the expectation expansion from level to level is excellent. Her weekly structure includes new words, review of last weeks words, and using all the words in profitable ways that will help develop readers and writers. The plan includes centers and there is a chapter devoted to them that has great advice on helping children approach words. As stated by the author, her system provides the structure, variety, ease, regular reading and writing of words, and IS both focused and fun. And I did prefer her suggested word lists over many other lists I've seen (and she tells you why she altered them). So, despite arranging words differently and my preference for a font that is very clear and can be resized if needed, I was very willing to keep this resource as the first half was so valuable (structure is a non-negotiable when teaching four grade levels). I recommend it as your first word wall resource, many more ideas in other resources will not be as supportive.

Book Description
'The Complete Lynch' is the only comprehensive study of the work of this cult director, which ranges from 1967's 'Six Figures Getting Sick', to 'The Straight Story' and 'Mulholland Drive'. Separate entries are devoted to the other media in which Lynch has excelled, and to the many unrealised film, television, and even radio projects. Lynch's style and recurring themes are analysed, as are the critics' divided responses to many of his films, in this exhaustive and revealing guide to one of the masters of modern film-making.
Customer Reviews:
okay stuff but..........2005-06-22
This book and Nochimson's are informative but predictable. Too much of this material dates fast because a lot of it is written from the point of view that Lynch can do no wrong... for my money, the reassessment of Johnson's Pervert in the Pulpit is where the new view of Lynch is going, not as a springboard for high-falutin philosophical ideas but to expose Lynch's weird bias toward conservative values dressed up in kinky drag...
Well worth the purchase price -- useful and entertaining........2002-06-09
Hughes' book is an indispensable addition to the bookshelf of the recent Lynch initiate, casual fan, or long-time follower of Lynch's career and work. Even trivia magnets will find numerous new and fascinating facts and anecdotes.
This is the rare book that can be used either as a career overview, reference work, or just a worthwhile, enjoyable read. The book is divided into sections, one for each work up to and including Mulholland Drive [not only film and TV works] and each is subdivided into categories such as trivia, cut scenes, availability, Lynch Mob (reappearances of members of Lynch's stable of frequent collaborators), or Lynch's own comments on each work. The index is very thorough as well, so the book can be enjoyed non-chronologically in bite-size pieces if desired.
Hughes has gone to the horse's mouth for many of the relevant facts and observances, having interviewed Lynch himself and many who work with him. The book is well-stocked with information, opinion and analysis without coming across as dry or pedantic. I'm very glad I picked it up.
Not nebulous and overly general like some works about Lynch, or a collection of the opinions of one writer like some others, Hughes' book should be purchased and read by anyone with an interest in the work of David Lynch,or in the wide-ranging, well-rounded and fascinating man himself.
3 thumbs up. Buy and keep near TV.
lots of facts, little analysis.......2002-03-26
if you're looking for a more in-depth analysis, you might want to look elsewhere, but for straightforward facts about Lynch films, this is a great guide. it systematically goes through a series of catagories (cast/crew, production history, cut scenes, etc. ; also some weirder catagories like "deja vu," "apocrypha,"- all of these lend to a greater understanding of the material in lynch's films) this ultimately ended up being the most helpful book on lynch I read, if only because it made finding actual facts about each subject really easy
The Complete Book For The Complete Lynch Fan.......2002-02-12
Let me start off by saying that this review may be a little prejudiced. I helped David Hughes collect some of the movies and info for the book, and became buddies with him in the process. However, all that aside this is a great book. Rather than being culled from "found" interviews and information, slopped together with a little psychoanalysis and fanfare, David has based his book on three things 1) an obsessive love of all things Lynchian, 2) an obsessive **knowledge** of all things Lynchian, and 3) a personal meeting with Mr. Lynch himself, which allowed this book to have interviews, quotes, opinions, etc. from the man himself that no other source in the world has.
In addition to being the ultimate book for the ultimate Lynch fan, this book has everything you could want in a comprehensive "guide" to Lynch for those wanting to immerse themselves in the Lynch universe for the first time. Full color photos, a VERY detailed episode by episode guide to Twin Peaks, information on his newest projects (Mulholland Drive, his internet ventures), as well as those that never made it (One Saliva Bubble, Rocket Ronnie, etc.).
To sum it up, I believe anybody interested in Lynch should buy this book. It is intelligently written, thoroughly researched, and a joy to read. Lastly, I believe this book can pass the one test no other book about Lynch has been able to (to my knowledge): I defy you to find a factual mistake in this book. While I won't discuss it here, believe me that others are rife with them and this is a topic often discussed on my email discussion group. As a matter of fact, if any one is interested in learning more about David Lynch, discussing him and his works, and, as an extra bonus, getting to meet the author of this book, David Hughes (he is a frequent poster to the list) go to the yahoo groups website, sign in, and go to Lynchians! Enjoy the book!
Book Description
Luxury kitchens are the hottest trend in the home construction and remodeling business, even in relatively modest homes, where owners are compromising elsewhere in order to afford the best possible kitchen. Black & Decker The Complete Guide to Dream Kitchens shows homeowners what's hot and what's not, and gives practical information on how they can achieve the kitchens of their fantasies. Recent innovations in planning and room layout are covered in detail, and the merits of premium building materials and appliances are discussed and compared. Readers will also learn how to work with professional contractors to get the kitchen they want -- on budget and on time.
But this is a book not only for dreaming, but also for doing. An impressive chapter gives more than a dozen actual how-to projects for creating luxury kitchen features easily and with professional results. For example, ambitious readers will learn how to create a polished concrete countertop; how to measure, order and install granite surfaces; how to create custom cove lighting systems; how to install a deep-basin sink; how a self-venting fireplace can become part of a remodeled kitchen. Black & Decker The Complete Guide to Dream Kitchens will delight dreamers and doers alike.

Don't waste your euros!.......2007-05-27
This auteur is more concerned with "cute" and "clever" than devising real crosswords that aid language learning. Fitting the puzzles into various shapes must challenge the auteur but does nothing to enhance the challenge to the puzzler. I did all the puzzles just to toss the book. I hated it! And I won't ever buy another puzzle book by de Sales.

Every day, stocks, bonds and currencies bounce around wildly in response to economic indicators like these. They're monitored obsessively by the world's leading money managers. Why? Because they provide crucial, subtle clues about the future of the market -- and of individual investments. Now you can profit from these indicators just like the professionals do. You don't need an economics degree, or a CPA -- just this easy-to-read book. In plain English, renowned economic journalist Bernard Baumohl helps you find the numbers, understand their deepest meanings, and use your knowledge to make fast, smart investment decisions. For each key indicator, Baumohl presents a sample release, insider's information on the indicator's track record, and step-by-step instructions for decoding it. Baumohl covers both US indicators and the foreign indicators that are becoming increasingly important to investors. He answers key questions like: Which indicators are most likely to affect my personal investments or business? How does each indicator affect interest rates and bond prices? Stock prices? The value of the dollar? And what can these reports tell me where the economy's really heading?
Customer Reviews:
A great book for students and lousy choice for Investors!.......2007-09-25
The utility of this book is directly related to what your objective is going to be ..
1. If you are a student who want to learn economic indicators, this book is a must read. In simple language and interesting examples, every economic indicator is explained.
2. If you are like me, an investor trying to decipher the economic indicators to make meaning to your investing decisions , you are better off tracking the tigers directly than analysing the terrain and weather patterns ( with some high level information that you can pick up from yahoo finance,CNBC etc ..example : Missed Durable goods meant stocks are down today )
Still if you are determined to understand the economic indicators, this is how you can maximise your time..
Every Chapter is an economic indicator has the following sections:
Market sensitivity (read the chapter if it is high or skip it entirely)
Why is it important ( read it)
How is it computed ( skip it)
Market Impact ( read it)
The world is already complicated and in a frenzy. Spend your time with your kids, get some fresh air or even watch TV than reading these type of academic books (Exception Students and to some extend Money managers)
Usually market takes care of the numbers within the first 15 minuts of a trading day on bad or good news!I am sure Warren buffett wont spend more than 15 minutes of his time a week digesting these news ( if at all he follows it)
If you trade sporadically, You may chose to read my review about an excellent stock market related book... Something that you can act upon!
The Successful Investor: What 80 Million People Need to Know to Invest Profitably and Avoid Big Losses
Great book.......2007-09-01
Before I read this book, I had no knowledge in any aspect of the field of economics. After reading this book, I was prepared enough to earn an easy A in the macroeconomics course I took this summer at the local college. The book was easy enough to read for someone with no economics background; and it had enough advanced information to completely prepare myself for an easy A. I strongly recommend this book to everyone, no matter of your previous knowledge. You will learn a lot.
Best book on Economic indicators I've read.......2007-08-30
This book was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I wanted a book that will tell me which economic indicators stocks were most sensitive to, what they were, and what I should look for.
This book for perfect for that. The look lists out the 10 most important indicators for not only stocks, but bonds and the US Dollar currency as well. Not only that, it lists our almost every economic indicator regardless if it's in the top 10 or not. So you read up on every economic indicator regardless of where it's in the top 10 or not.
It also includes foreign economic indicators which was very useful.
If you want to know about economic indicators, this is the only book you need.
Good Resource.......2007-08-27
The author does a thorough job detailing each individual variable that he covers. In addition, he gives a good framework for conceptualizing where each variable fits into the overall economic landscape. Categorizing each variable by High, Medium, and Low impact along with an explanation as to why is another important and helpful feature. The individual variable synopsis can be a bit redundant if you are reading cover to cover but the redundancy helps to increase its value as a ready reference.
I recommend that all financial/business analysts have something like this unless they are so fully immersed in this data that it is second nature.
The only reason for 4 stars is that it is pointed a bit too much toward the lay reader (but of course this was the author's original audience so, bravo).
Excellent Basic Information About Important Economic Data.......2007-08-19
Baumohl begins by telling us that at least 43 American economic indicators are published each month by our government, and how they are released under strict conditions that prevent anyone from early (unfair) access. He also explains that foreign indicators are also important - nearly half of S&P 500 company earnings come from outside the U.S., and they own about 15% of U.S. equities, 24% of corporate bonds, and 40% of U.S. Treasuries, totalling some $1.5 trillion.
"The Secrets" then briefly reviews "The Lingo", before spending most of its pages covering "The Most Influential Economic Indicators." Employment data are first, and Baumohl explains how they are derived, their limitations, how sensitive the bond and stock markets are to each one of them, etc. Retail Sales, Consumer Confidence and others are then also reviewed in the same manner. (It was particularly interesting to learn why Consumer Confidence survey data is more erratic than the University of Michigan's data on the same topic - the latter largely uses the same group from one survey to the next.)
Then its on to foreign indicators, and free Internet sources for the data. (Economic indicator data used to be available only to those purchasing special services, per Baumohl.)
