Book Description
For the better part of a century, Twentieth Century Fox, one of the oldest and most powerful of the great Hollywood studios, has maintained its magnificent archive of still photographs-unit stills, glamorous portraits, screen tests, and other behind-the-scenes coverage of daily life in the dream factory. This collection features the best of these photographs, many previously unpublished. Here is a visual record of The Grapes of Wrath, All About Eve, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Cleopatra, and other cherished films of the 20th century, along with memorable shots of the stars, directors, and crews who worked on the Fox lot from the Golden Age of Holly-wood to the present.
Shirley Temple, Gene Tierney, Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell, Natalie Wood, Montgomery Clift, Robert Redford, and Gregory Peck are just a few of the superstars who are seen here in unexpected and evocative photographs. Martin Scorsese, a leader in film preservation and one of America's most important filmmakers, contributes an essay to this stunning volume, which will be irresistible for film and photography buffs alike. AUTHOR BIO: Tom Rothman is the co-chairman of Twentieth Century Fox. Martin Scorsese is a legendary filmmaker who has directed some of the most important films of the last half-century, including Gangs of New York, Cape Fear, Goodfellas, The King of Comedy, Raging Bull, and Taxi Driver. Rob Easterla, Kevin Murphy, and Miles Scott are Fox archivists.

Wonderful photographs, never seen before........2006-08-21
I have already a few photograph books on movies and movie stars and this is one of the best. Contains photos I had never seen before, in large format and the best quality. This book is perfect for all those who believe they don't make movies like they used to in the classic days anymore, I'm one of them! Nor do we have now stars like those...

Harley Hahn's Student Guide To Unix .......2006-11-10
I liked it and it is easy to understand.
Perfect for someone who never even knew what UNIX was.......2002-10-18
Having been using the UNIX system for six years, I'm still referencing from this absolute beginner book from time to time because the language is so non-technical, yet the information contained within is more than enough to get you started on using UNIX operating system and learn to love it.
The author did a very good job particularly in describing and tutoring the reader how to do common tasks such as using email systems, doing text editing, issuing commands from the CLI, etc. Not very in-depth but the point is, it is enough to get you interested to look for MORE, which is the most important thing. There is no point in explaining something in-depth only to discourage the reader to look for more information, and only to leave the subject untouched because it looks "hard". If you are a UNIX veteran/advanced user/system administrator, this book is not for you, as you have probably known way more than what this book contains.
I highly recommend this book as the very first book on UNIX to read on, if you have never even heard of UNIX before, and only experienced in Windows/MacOS environments.
Ideal book for getting started.......2000-03-01
I found this book to be excellent. I feel it teaches you all that you need to be a comfortable UNIX user. This may not be the ideal book if you are looking for a quick reference for commands etc. Great job by the author.
Detailed, understandable, thorough and fun!.......1998-11-05
I think this must be one of the best UNIX-manuals ever written. Mr. Hahn shows skills and knows how to teach even a beginner everything from basics to the more advanced. I would highly recommend this book to everybody who would like to learn a bit or eight about Unix- The most interesting and powerful MUOS there is!
As said, a student's guide.......1998-08-04
For a Windows 95 user like myself, Unix looked liked a dark and mysterious night, unpenetrable and unfathomable. This book came like a guiding light and saw me through.

Book Description
An Environmentally Friendly Shell Book and Game.
There are not as many shells as there were five years ago. Not as many as ten years ago. Not nearly as many as twenty years ago. Why?? This unusual book contains a Flash Card Game with a Timer and Text that describes how to identify, collect, and learn about shells without killing the defenceless inhabitants of these Jewels from the Sea. No other shell book teaches us how to collect Perfect Specimens without the ecological cruelty favoured by so many scientists when they insist "Collect Live." Together with simple ideas for display, particularly aboard boats where space is limited, I include a Colour Catalogue identifying Shells common to the Bahamas and Florida.
The text was corrected by R. Tucker Abbott, research scientist and field collector for 40 years at Harvard University, the Smithsonian Institution and the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. Abbott, author of innumerable texts, is also the First Director of the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum, Sanibel Island, Florida and is one of the great malacologists and leading conchologists of this century.

A must for Caribbean holidays.......2001-07-10
A wonderful book for those who wish to engage in the game of collecting shells - beautifully illustrated and written. While the book is written at an adult level, an engaging card game is included to amuse and educate young shell collectors. Mactaggart is clearly passionate about shell collecting and her enthusiasm comes through loud and clear. The author's discussion of the ethics of shell collecting is especially apropos. Thou shalt not kill a living animal for its shell, nor support such behaviour in others. Her simple philosophy and respect for the islands shines through the pages of this book, for readers young and old.
Book Description
Some of nature's most exquisite forms are celebrated in 8 ready-to-color drawings of sea shells — scallop, chambered nautilus, triton shell, queen conch, and 4 more. Color the translucent pages with felt-tip pens, crayons or paints, and hang them near a light source to enjoy watching the light shine through their own creations.

Book Description
The Shell Seekers is a novel of connection: of one family, and of the passions and heartbreak that have held them together for three generations. The Shell Seekers is filled with real people -- mothers and daughters, husband and lovers -- inspired with real values. The Shell Seekers centers on Penelope Keeling -- a woman you'll always remember in world you'll never forget. The Shell Seekers is a magical novel, the kind of reading experience that comes along only one in a long while.
Customer Reviews:
Five Stars is NOT Enough! The best book by far........2007-06-29
This was truly the best novel I've read. I was totally absorbed in this story and all of the characters. Pilcher's descriptive writing makes you feel you are there. You see what is written. You smell the smells and hear the sounds. You definitely feel what is going on. I don't think I ever loved a character more than Penelope. I couldn't put this down, yet I never wanted it to end. I wish these people were real so I could sit with them and learn more about their lives. Thank you Rosamunde for making me love your story!
Best Book I've Read in a Long Time.......2007-06-06
This book deserves more than 5 stars. A co-worker gave it to me to read while she was looking for a book by another author whose series I started reading. I feel spoiled now and don't want to read a book by a different author! I have not finished The Shell Seekers yet, but if I had my way I would take a day off from work and read it from the time I get up in the morning til the time I go to bed so I can just immerse myself in it. The characters are so realistic and you get so drawn into their saga of their lives that you feel that you are a part of their world. You will love to hate Noel and Nancy who are the incredibly spoiled adult-brats of Penelope! This is just an incredibly delicious book and I can't say enough good things about it. Just read it and you'll see why so many people gave it a 5 star rating.
Love this book.......2007-05-13
I enjoy having a collectors edition of one of my favorite
books. The seller was accurate in the description of the
condition and I am pleased with the purchase
Fall in Love with the Characters.......2007-04-05
You'll feel like you know the characters in this novel. The story will make you want to put your feet up and shut the real world out for a while.
The Shell Seekers.......2007-03-24
Rosamunde Pilcher is a very good writer. I enjoyed this book and would read anything she writes.

Customer Reviews:
Very informative, a little pricey........2007-08-08
If you are just starting a business, this is a great read BEFORE you get started. Lots of info on which "status" is best for your company - LLC, S Corp, etc.
Awesome Business Advise.......2007-07-11
This book helped me to restructure my business for the next year. My accountant was amazed by the ideas I presented during our last meeting. This book gave excellant illustrations showing the financial statements of businesses before and after they restructured using the methods in the book. I recommend it for anyone in business (or thinking of one day going into business).
Inc. & Grow Rich Review.......2007-02-08
This book is very informative. The book is written so that anyone that reads it can understand it. Anything you've ever wanted to know about taxes to get better returns this is a must read. I like the way the book is broken down into categories. If you're looking for something in particular, it's not hard to find. Anyone who has their own business should definitely read this book and also keep it as reference at all times. This book has so much useful information in it, one would be amazed. This helped me to be able to cut my tax expenses by a lot. I highly recommend this book to anyone with their own business or those who plan to start their own business.
Great for the new President.......2007-01-06
This book was recommended to me by my C.P.A. For those who are new to the corporation game, this is a great book! Inc. & Grow Rich! will open your eyes to the full potential of being incorporated. The more seasoned business owner will still find interesting tidbits in this book.
Ludicrous.......2006-07-29
I didn't read the passage that the other reviewer did, who stated: "Did you know that if you start a business from your home, everything you currently own and use for the corporation (tables, computers, chairs, etc.) can be considered a donation to the corporation, resulting in a write off on your individual tax return? You can even write off your rent if you operate from there!" But assuming his citation of the book is accurate the book is flat wrong. A contribution by a shareholder to a corporation in a 26 USC 351 transaction is NOT A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION and IS NOT DEDUCTIBLE by the contributing shareholder. Moreover, one cannot contribute assets to a corporation in exchange for stock, and then cause the corporation to make a 26 USC 179 election with respect to the contributed assets.
Merely operating a business inside corporate solution is not a silver bullet for tax savings. Nor, as some will claim, is forming a NV corporation.
