Book Description
Errol Flynn set the standard for the modern action hero in films like The Adventures of Robin Hood, Dodge City, and The Sea Hawk. This biography follows Flynn from his birth in Tasmania, Australia, in 1909, to his death in Vancouver, Canada, in 1959. Included is analysis of his films, discussion of the 1943 rape trial that changed his life, a survey of the FBI's infamous surveillance, and the first detailed account of his television appearances in the 1950s. First-hand interviews with Flynn's friends and colleagues are complemented by research from FBI files, correspondence, Flynn's diary, and other sources. Illustrated with rare and previously unpublished photographs, the study also gives attention to the historical backgrounds and cultural influences that contributed to Flynn's fame; the work takes an objective and analytical look at the actor's adventurous life.
The study includes two appendices: the first is a collection of quotations from various celebrities, from memories of his talent and style to anecdotes about his wild pool parties. The second appendix is a filmography including all Flynn's work for film, stage, and television, with cast and crew information.

Flynn More than a Film Idol.......2007-03-25
I have nothing but praise for this work, and will spare readers a lot of repetition.
However, I will point out that Flynn was far more than a film idol. He was a philosopher whose life served to deliver the tenants of that philosophy. His messages are: Do not be afraid, be brave, have fun and screw convention. Spit in the eye of doubt. Don't be a cringer; life is to be full of high adventure. When it looks as though you're down and out, put on your best sport coat, trim your moustache, smile and charm the world.
One was never bored being around Eroll Flynn, he had a way of stirring the pot and creating events that no one has ever forgotten.
Back in 1962, I was trapped in a dead-end job and very timid about taking the risks entailed in finding a better one. My sister happened to loan me "My Wicked, Wicked Ways" with the off-hand recommendation that it was very entertaining. After reading it, I was so braced and buttressed, that the following Monday I -- a little too cheerfully -- called in sick and went looking for a better job -- heck, if Flynn could take all of his gambles and risks, I could take a few, too. I soon landed that better job and within a year was making over twice as much income. There are many, many other things I took on due to Flynn's example, and don't regret a one. I made sure my two sons read his book, and they, too, were duly influenced.
In my view, everyone should know the life of Flynn and have a picture of him hanging on the wall, and a collection of books about him. God bless Thomas McNulty for adding to the record. I give his book the highest recommendation.
Save your money.......2007-03-07
No additional information about Errol in this book.
I purchased this book after reading Errol's autobiography, the Earl Conrad Memoir book, Nora Eddington's Errol and Me book and Flynn's own fictional novels.
The info in this book seemed to be taken from volumes of other biographies, autobiographies any celebrities or authors who had anything to say about Flynn, true or false. This is clear in the huge bibliography which alone could have been a separate book on its own.
I found this writing "dry" and "boring". Like downloading any Flynn already regurgitated info from the web and documenting only the highlights.
The only thing that was of any value was the few photos included.
There's one of Errol and Olivia De Havilland chatting in street clothes, no period costumes. There are the few pictures of Errol in court for the statutory rape trial. Errol's wearing street clothes, a suit, and is quite handsome wearing glasses.
I don't believe these few pictures not even 81/2 x 11 sized and in black and white are worth $65.00. The book isn't even 81/2 x 11. It may be worth $30.00 or less.
If you already have read some Flynn documentation you may be disappointed with the price and the content of this book.
If your really interested in Mr. Flynn, I'd suggest reading his autobigrapy, "My Wicked Wicked Ways by Errol Flynn". If you've conquered that I can suggest "Errol and Me by Nora Eddington Flynn".
This book is written by one of his ex-wives, his second.
I find a lot of insight into this book as well. The drug use is cooberated by Conrads book.
The only thing that my upset you is Nora claims Flynn beat her on about 2 occasions. On 1 Nora writes Mr. Flynn senior was present(I beleive Flynn's father was a live at the release of this book").
The circimstances are that of taking drugs from a drug addict. Clearly she loved and I think still loved Flynn during the writting of this book. This book is only going for $20.00 bucks too.
A well written and carefully researched work.......2006-05-04
It is true that the sticker price on this book is a bit high. But if you are a devoted Flynnatic, this book is simply a 'must read'. There is just no other way of saying it.
Carefully researched, readable, and heavily illustrated with many pictures I'd never seen elsewhere (and I own over 20 books about Errol Flynn), this book is a joy to read.
McNulty is a scholar, not a sensationalist gossip-monger like a few of the Flynn 'biographers' (and I use that term very tongue-in-cheek) out there. He has done his homework, and has come up with a very fair, balanced, and factual account of the life of one of the most colorful (and controversial) actors ever to grace our movie screens.
If you want to read silly rumor and gossip, this is not the book for you. But if you are a serious Errol Flynn fan who is interested in an easy-to-read, yet scholarly account of the facts, then this is the book for you.
One of my favorite books about Errol - up there with Conrad and Thomas, in my opinion!
Worth reading if you can afford it.......2005-09-30
Not a five star book in my opinion unlike the friends of Mcnulty who seem to have given it so, here, who also seem to have scolded those who did not have same thoughs sadly! Besides the nepotisum of praising it higher up the scale, the book is worth reading if you can afford it, and there are some good anecdotes with some nice pictures of Errol Flynn in his prime.A must have for any Flynn fanatic.I rate this book a good three stars.
Excellent work!.......2005-04-26
Strolling through the pages of this delightful insight into the life of Errol Flynn is a very gracious thing. Well written, expertly documented and total fun for any Flynn fan.

Excellent book.......2005-04-27
This is a great anthology of Neil Young's early years, including stuff from Buffalo Springfield and some obscure but tuneful songs from that band. I found the chords to be right on target for one of my favorites, Flying on the Ground, a beautiful song with unusual chord voicings that would not be apparent to the average guitar player. The chord charts for that song alone make this book worth the price.

great condition.......2007-01-10
we got this book as a gift for a huge neil young fan, and he was very happy with it. it was in great condition.
Excellent reasearch by the author. very detailed.......2005-08-03
This may be the only book you'll ever need on Neil Young. Then again, there is always more to Neil than we know...
For an entirely different but excellent analysis of Neil Young's music and personality, read "Neil Young and The Poetics of Energy" by WILLIAM ECHARD
neil young zero to sixty.......2005-02-19
this is the best and most complete and accurate book about Neil that you will ever read. Why buy the others as i have read all and this is the only book,if you really want to know about shakey neil......
released music only.......2004-08-21
This might be a pleasing read-along for the casual collector. Rogan provides short blurbs for each song, including a little background information on each, and quotes from (unsourced) interviews. Many Neil Young fans could write this book in a weekend alone with a stereo and a pot of coffee.
As a "Guide" though, this book is not "Complete". Neil Young has a few unreleased albums (like "Chrome Dreams", which went as far as an acetate) and unrecorded tunes (like "No One Seems To Know"). Rogan's book doesn't cover these. Heavyweight collectors will also be dissatisfied with lack of information on various releases. Not to mention, if I may be so gauche, bootlegs.
And realisticly you can buy a dozen record guides (and read dozens more online) that include writeups of Young's available albums.
Comprehensive look at the music.......2000-06-24
This book covers all of Neil's commercially releasesd music from Buffalo Springfield through Mirror Ball. Nothing earth shattering here and the book focuses entirely on the music and is NOT a biography but it is a nice little book.
It is not so much something to sit down and read as it is a reference guide. It would be a great reference guide for someone who is still looking to complete a Neil Young collection. Every song Neil released in that period (1966-1995)is listed and briefly reviewed. The book is organized chronologically by date of album (CD) release and has an index which makes it handy.

What is LEAN SIX SIGMA?.......2007-06-11
Excellent Lean Six Sigma overview book - suitable to hand out during Yellow Belt or Green Belt Training as a support to the participants. As a Certified Black Belt, I can confirm the material is correct (for the experts) & can be understood (for the folk new to LSS).
An accelerated explanation of how to produce more and better results, in less time, and at a lower cost .......2007-05-16
It seems eminently appropriate that a book which explains what Lean Six Sigma is (and isn't) should exemplify the same principles it addresses: It delights its reader with the speed by which its material is covered and with the quality of that material, it offers immediate help with mastering whatever the given process (or processes) may be, its authors work effectively with their reader to achieve the desired objectives within that reader's organization, and they prepare their reader to make better decisions, based on verifiable data.
Many people who consider purchasing it may be deterred by terms such Six Sigma and Lean which tend to be associated only with immensely large and complicated organizations such as GE and Motorola. In fact, authors Mike George, Dave Rowlands, and Bill Kastle include a number of mini-case studies throughout their narrative that suggest how decision-makers in almost any organization (regardless of size or nature) can apply Lean Six Sigma to produce more and better results, in less time, and at a lower cost if (huge "if") there are leadership at the top of the given organization, buy-in and sustained commitment at all levels and in all areas, sufficient resources, and accurate and consistent performance measurement.
For me, some of the most valuable material is provided in Chapter 8, "Making Improvements That Last." After explaining the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) process, the authors make skillful use of various "Figures" that serve two separate but related purposes: they highlight key points, and, they facilitate, indeed expedite frequent review of those points later. For example, Figure 8.1: Sample Project Charter that demonstrates how to capture the essence of a Lean Six Sigma project. It describes what the team should accomplish, who will work on the project (and in what roles), timelines and other key information. Then with Figure 8.3: Value Stream Map, the authors indicate with the example provided how the value stream map, based on an actual process, captures the main sequence of activities in the boxes across the top line. If executed with rigor and discipline, the DMAIC process offers a framework for effective collaboration that will reveal real solutions to root problems.
Those who share my high regard for this book are urged to check out James P. Womack and Daniel T. Jones's Lean Thinking: Banish Waste and Create Wealth in Your Corporation and their more recent book, Lean Solutions: How Companies and Customers Can Create Value and Wealth Together. Also, Michael George's Lean Six Sigma for Service: How to Use Lean Speed and Six Sigma Quality to Improve Services and Transactions, The Lean Six Sigma Pocket Toolbook: A Quick Reference Guide to 100 Tools for Improving Quality and Speed (with John Maxey and David T. Rowlands) and Fast Innovation: Achieving Superior Differentiation, Speed to Market, and Increased Profitability (with James Works, and Kimberly Watson-Hemphill).
