Customer Reviews:
Excellent book.......2006-05-04
Well-written and an excellent guide, Ablee goes into detail of every stage of making a CGI film. Essential for anyone who is even considering making a film, especially if your primary program will be Lightwave.
Nicely Carved Book.......2005-10-07
The book is really great. Cannot stop reading the book. The book is very inspiring. hats off to Timothy Albee. A must read for people who enter in to the field of animation.
CGI Filmmaking: The Creation of Ghost Warrior.......2005-08-22
Excellent book. It is very well written and has a lot of very useful information. Although at times Mr. Albee gets a little heavy handed with his philosophies or life and art, in general his advice is most welcome.
I especially recommend this book to people who are just starting in the business, or are looking for a break in.
Laying the groundwork for your own 3d short.......2005-04-05
Did you ever admire someone's abilities who shares an interest with you? Wouldn't you love to speak to him/her and ask them questions how they got to that point in there career to help guide you? Say a chef, and artist, maybe someone who succeeded in business?
Well, being somewhat deeply involved in 3D as a hobby/freelance, I, along with many of us, know of Tim Albee. He has a deep background in 3D and has worked at some fine studios. But, more importantly for me, he's dived into making his own shorts. This is of special interest to me, since i don't expect to be working at pixar anytime soon. That being said, there are certain issues that arise for the artist looking to make his own short. Tim walks you through his journey. From start to completion. How he work up a script, how to design characters, ways to cut corners. He even goes into improvised ways of doing your own audio! Then he wraps up with different ways to market your film with actual websites and film festivals all while giving you "insider" tips.
In short, if your have dreams of making "your own" animated short, with a limited budget, this is the book for you.
Unimpressed........2005-03-17
This book, to the uninformed, might seem like something special however, it seemed more like self promotion on a product that is over hyped and severely lacking in quality content... the DVD of Kaze.
If you are lacking self confidence and have very little knowledge of how to work with 3d and create a short, you may want to invest in this book. Mr. Albee is constantly touting how amazing and special he you are. This seems to me like a thinly veiled attempt at fooling the reader into liking the book. While it is a good marketing technique it is not what the someone needs if they truely want to succeed in the film industry.
It does seem that Mr. Albee definitely has a bit of technical experience and must be commended for finishing his DVD and writing a book about it. The animation of the DVD is riddled with problems though. Intersections, sudden stops, no overlap, arms moving rapidly with no impact on the body, broken wrists, obviouly constrained controls and much more. The camera moves and staging are alright for a student film but, full of novice mistakes that cg artists commonly make.
After reading the book and seeing the DVD, I would suggest your time is better spent with books on animation such as "The Animator's Survival Kit" and "The illusion of Life". Books on filmaking and production such as "Story", "In the blink of a Eye" and "Film Directing Shot by Shot". These are quality books that will help you grow. They will not pat you on the back and tell you are great when you may not be. The production process is very hard and it's very difficult to become good enough to produce the quality that the big studios require. This book doesn't really put you in the right direction.

its not a book.......2004-04-05
This is a guitar tab book. there are no words except for the lyrics. if you want to read about the band or the album this is not the book to buy. some of the reviews dont know what they're talking about. there is no cd and the book says nothing about the band. if youre looking to learn the guitar edition of the cd you should get this book because its great. but dont be mislead thats all it is.
Stop letting [some people] review things.......2002-10-31
Dont listen to these [people]who are saying "I met Fred Durst and you will feel like you know him persanally once you read this book!" ... Its not funny, people look at these reviews to decide if they will purchase something. Anyways, this is a GUITAR TAB book for limp bizkit significant other CD. I myself DO HAVE this book, and its very good. If you wanna learn some of those sweet riffs wes cuts, get this book. If you are interested i a lot of cool guitar solos and prgressions, this isnt the book for you. If you wanna learn how to play exactly what on the cd, get this book! I hope this is helpfull.
You met Fred Durst? LUCKY!.......2000-03-21
You met Freddy D? Cool. I honestly haven't read this book, but if it's about Limp Bizkit, then it's prolly really good.

Customer Reviews:
The music on this album is the s@?t!!!!!!!!!!!.......2003-10-07
The music on this album is amazing...Wes borland's riffs are very interesting and creative. Except for the parts where Fred does his usual stupid things to ruin the song example (yelling limp bizkit! or yea or the many other annoying things he tends to do) even his parts, on a select few songs, are well written. But this book is a great buy because Wes's riffs are great!
that's great.......2001-07-04
this book is the best book of limp bizkit that you can find.
Book Description
Not since the phenomenal rise (and subsequent demise) of grunge superstars Nirvana 10 years ago, have an American band caught the imagination of the world's rock fans in the way Limp Bizkit have. In just a couple of years this Florida 5 piece have gone from being seen as white boy rap wannabees to major league, million selling, nu-metal godfathers, with a following to match. Acclaimed critically and commercially in equal measures, the Bizkits' now notch up awards and top polls on a daily basis, with their latest album `Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Coloured Water' selling huge quantities consistently and so remaining in the top 10 months after it's release. Global Assassins charts this incredible rise to fame and fortune that mainman Fred Durst and his loyal partners have achieved. Ideally presented for the average Limp Bizkit fan, compromising equal parts intelligent text and full colour photography, with a corresponding price tag, meaning the target market of 14-25 year olds should find it easy to fit into their budgets.

Customer Reviews:
Definitely original and worth a listen..........2007-09-07
This album may have followed suit in the post grunge craze of the mid 90's.. . but in retrospect its musical quality and overall originality make it essential to any grunge/metal/hard rock fan. Fred Durst may have ruined the image/ego of the band with his superfluous lyrics but that does not tamper with the quality of the sound. You can really hear the pain in his voice throughout the album. Wes Borland wrote some of the most high flying and complex riffs for this album... much more variety than almost anything you can pick up on the radio. It's a shame he left the band. John Otto... my goodness that man is made of rhythm. His jazzy beats along with DJ Lethal's samples really add a unique blend of rhythm to this album. Overall I believe despite the "fact" Limp Bizkit may have "sold out" (whatever that means, reference to Tool's 'Hooker with a Penis') this album is worth picking up. If you have any appreciation for the Nu-metal/Nu-rock genre you are going to have to check this out.
Limp debut showed some promise.....didn't deliver on it in the long run........2007-05-14
This is LB's heaviest album, and many people who like their work from Significant Other onwards may only like a couple of songs on here, because they tend to be more raw-sounding and in-your-face. Of course, everyone bought this because of "Faith", more than likely. I think the first half of this album was good and I like this heavy side of LB, but then they figured out how to sell records and in turn, sold out. LB was considered cool when I was finishing high school and entering college, but now they are kind of looked on with contempt. I think they had their place in music history, albeit not a big one, and they aren't meant to be taken too seriously. They were fun, but their career has run it's course. They peaked in 1999-2000, and it has been a long fall ever since. Still, on occasion, I bring out the old LB albums for some mindless fun at parties. And that's about it.
This is great!!.......2007-03-04
This CD is great!!! Lots of good tracks, and a really fun album!! This is not their best, although it is amazingly cool!! I recommend any of Limp Bizkit's CD's!! My personal favorites are Counterfeit, Sour, and Faith. But there all great, so buy this!! Oh and to the person said that thrash metal is better the Nu-metal, here is a big "F you"!! Your wrong and thrash metal is not very good at all, so get a life!!!
It was ok for its time but that was a DECADE AGO!.......2006-08-16
Oh man, this sucks really bad. Good thing nu-metal is dead. THRASH METAL IS REAL METAL, this is for posers.
Fred Durst should have never been born..................................2006-07-20
Limp Bizkit are the perfect testimony as to why the music industry is going downhill. If any A&R person signed this band - even ten years ago, they would have been shot. Fred Durst is a f***ed up psycopath that should have his head squashed by a steam roller and after that- they should flush peices of his brain down the toilet. His body should be thrown in an unmarked grave - with no memory of him whatsoever. And the fact that guitar player Wes Borland got in the magazine "Guitar legends" is a sick joke. He can't even play guitar - let alone churn out any decent riffs. The whole music industry owes the world an apology for for making Fred Durst famous - because now were stuck with him. This band is no more than a warning to kids that if you suck, you pay for it.

Life Altering.......2002-08-21
This book not only changed my view of Limp Bizkit, but my view of books in general. It even changed my life, prompting me to shave my head, donate all my possesions, and live a life full of veracity and empathy. Mr. Devenish captures the heart and spirit of The Bizkit in whirling Hemingway meets Hunter Thompson prose. Like other readers, I sleep with this book.
I used to be a german.......2000-10-18
Excluding the times when I was a german, there were several occasions of Irish. Then i was adopted by three strong women from Santa Cruz; they had yards full of car parts and gourds big as oxes. Mayflies came through, then died. Maria Shriver visited on occasion too; we had sweaty interactions behind the house. This book made me an Alsatian.
for a road trip.......2000-10-17
i always hated this band and thought they were jerks. somehow, through the magic of prose, mr. devenish breathes life into the putrid offal that i once thought was limp bizkit. i read it on the way to my summer cottage in somerville, ma. i was so tickled to learn the band's favorite foods. i eagerly await the issue of more books by this gifted, upcoming writer.
p.s. like greg heller, i also love men now b.c. of this book. amazing!
This book made me whole.......2000-10-11
I struggle to find the words to describe the power of this book and it's effect upon me. A masterpiece at minimum, the author has joined the elite of not only this generation, but of all generations. I sleep with it.
INCREDIBLE!.......2000-10-10
If God wrote a book on Limp Bizkit, it would be this book. An amazing profile of '99's hottest band.

Customer Reviews:
Good Read.......2006-11-03
This book had some intersting concepts and for the most part i am glad i read it. At times the author should have livened the book up with some humor, there are some dry portions that are a struggle to get through.
Just another advertiser for a major online poker website.......2006-05-04
Book has little relavent information on poker, let alone online poker. The "cut and paste" of screen prints is a tell tale sign of an author trying to fill up pages to make the book longer and "worth the money". Don't waste your money.
A poker book written by a DOCTOR? Now I've seen everything!.......2005-08-22
Let's be honest here...I'm not the sharpest lightbulb in the toolshed. I decided I wanted to jump on the poker bandwagon and just see what all the fuss was about, but I only had cursory knowledge of how the game of pirates and cowboys actually worked. So one day I was browsing the 'Zon and came across this book. Looked interesting, a great review provided by Jonathan Roth, and the price is right...if I'm going to start gambling, I might as well start here!
It's written by two brothers: Curt and Dr. Doug Frye (I call them the "two aces"...LOL!) Yup, that's right...DOCTOR! And a COMPUTER EXPERT!
This book covers a lot of stuff. I never knew there were so many different versions of poker out there! PINEAPPLE?!? It's not just for cocktails anymore! LOL! I'm glad all of this is included....who knows what would've happened if I signed on and logged into some game I had no idea about. I wouldn't have even known the difference!
What I also found interesting was how in depth it gets with all these crazy situations you can get yourself into and how to handle them. I thought I was just going to get an overview of what hand beats what and things like that, but they managed to cram a lot of juiciness into this book. I like how they weave all of the normal poker stuff into playing online and all of the different program possibilities there are. This is very nice because right now, online is the only way I can play as I'm bedridden!
And not only will this book help sharpen your poker skills, it will sharpen your LAUGHING SKILLS! I'm so glad this book isn't some boring technical manual. The boys really know how to make a girl laugh!
Overall, if your someone slightly familiar with the game of poker but really want to approach it seriously, this is a great book to have! It covers all the basics, and I found it indispensible for getting started online and actually HOLDING ON TO my money. It also feels like a book I can grow into. I haven't been able to use all of the information in it yet, and I don't think I will outgrow it soon. Plus, it covers a lot of different games, so you don't have to buy allthese different books...it's all there in one handy guide! I keep it handy whenever I'm online.
Useful for Novices. .......2005-08-21
Perhaps a better title for this book would be, "A Thorough Introduction to Online Poker," as it excels in instructing readers about the basics of the game, but does not reveal many unknown secrets. It was published with neophytes in mind. Some of the topics, such as when the authors thoroughly discuss the legalities of online poker, are quite valuable; particularly when they quote from the federal court case illustrating the vagueness of the law in regards to contests. Further, there is a unique emphasis on the technological aspects of poker which is evident from the three chapters devoted to poker spreadsheets and software. The best of these programs are the ones which fit over the poker website like a template and record information automatically. The worst of them are the ones that make you record, with individual keystrokes, the results of your hands. It takes unusual dedication for the average player to do this, but I can see how it would immediately improve one's game.
Overall, with its stylish presentation and excellent organization, the manual is excellent for beginners, but I can't say that it offers much for those of us with a great deal of experience. Again, with few "secrets" shared, the title is rather misleading.
Book Review for WSOP.......2005-05-27
This book has all the good qualities of a beginning poker book and then goes farther, introducing the reader to ways of analyzing their game never covered before, as far as I've seen.
The authors begin with a quick primer on the history and legality of online poker and then move on to the basics of how to set up an online account and get money into it so you can play away. (Go to a place like rec.gambling.poker for more in-depth discussions on how the rewards programs work.) After that, they go into a lot of detail about the games themselves, which makes this book not only an internet poker book but also a general poker book. A very strong point is that they talk about several different games: Hold `Em, Stud, Stud Hi-Lo, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo and Pineapple (a little). So many books concentrate on only one game. They get into the statistics a lot, noting that their statistical analyses showed you'll win a certain percentage of the money when you're in a given situation. They also go through the different ways the hands can win or lose depending on how the cards fall the rest of the way. In Omaha Hi-Lo, for example, they'll give you three a scenario in which three different hands are competing for the money. They describe how the best highs and lows can be made and how the situations change on the flop and the turn. Rest assured, though, they do cover Hold `Em extensively! This book does NOT cover pot-limit and no-limit poker, though.
The analysis section talks about how to use Excel and the Wilson Software packages to analyze your play. If you're serious about improving your game or are curious about how big a favorite or an underdog you are in a given situation or if you want to be able to play poker for free after buying the packages this seems like a good idea (I've never used the Wilson Software, I have to admit). But it would be interesting to see how a simulation would come out and by using something as simple as the chart wizard in Excel to cast an objective and unblinking eye on how well I play at certain times.
This book is really good and should be part of your poker library!
