A MUST HAVE FOR BATMAN FANS.......2005-06-25

First, ignore the review by the guy from Chile. He can't articulate the language, what makes me think he knows what he's talking about regarding Batman Begins? With any big budget blockbuster comes the inevitable parade of merchandise. Few films other than Star Wars can match the marketing juggernaut of the Batman films. Batman Begins is the long awaited beginning to a new series of Batman films, revived back to life after Joel Schumacher and George Clooney nearly killed the franchise. The official movie guide is a great scrapbook and companion to the film. It features dozens of photographs from the film, absolutely brilliant photography. There are snippets of the script as well as several short pieces detailing Batman's origins, as well as interviews. Not just a throwaway marketing item or a piece of fluff, this is definitely a collectible you'll want to have. It's informative and entertaining.

I ordered this book and realized the day after I placed the order that my boyfriend had bought it for himself. When I emailed the seller to see if it was too late to cancel my order and the reason I got no response. I sent another email 2 days later and I still never received a response. I then got the book (which I'm stuck with) and not even in good condition! BAD EXPERIENCE.

It was a pretty easy fast read. I wish it had more info as, "Behind the mask of Spiderman" written by the same author. Nice pics and info but I finished reading it in a couple of hours at the most.

After seeing BATMAN BEGINS, I realized that I have just watched a movie that has so much more to tell me. But how can I find out more about the locations used, the props made, the characters and the creative process? "The Art of Batman Begins" satisfied my thrist for that knowledge. It's a great book that makes you appreciate the little things about BATMAN BEGINS and makes you proud to be a person who paid $10 to see it at the Cineplex. Hollywood has given us less than stellar films in the last couple years, it's good to see that the makers of BATMAN BEGINS still wanted us, the audience, to have a magical, wonderful movie going experience.

This is book goes into detail on the production of this long awaited film. From the Batmobile to the Batsuit we get details that we've always wanted. The only problem I have with the book is that it's too short, I wanted more.With that one problem aside, this will be a welcomed addition to "Batman" fan's library.

The Art of BATMAN BEGINS is a wonderful look into the making of the film. It has extensive storyboards and costume designs, as well as, concept art in full color. Any fan of the Dark Knight should add this edition to your bookshelf. Only a joker would pass this up.

Great Batman Begins book!.......2005-08-29

This is a very good book. If you are familiar with the Star Wars Visual Guides then you will love this book! Though its more of a storybook then the Star Wars guides but this is awesome. It has really neat pictures from the movie all in color and many great pictures of the characters. I would love more books like this that studies on feature films! If you love the Batman Begins film and/or Batman in general then I strongly recommend this book!

Batman begins is a awesome movie. Sweet special effects, very,very,very,very good actors, great storyline, some good princibles....ect. Don't even worry about rent'n it first, because if you like action, suspense, sweet special effects, and all that comes with a action movie, you might as well buy the dang thing!!! And you won't regret it!!! HIGHLY recommend this movie.

Go behind the Bat!.......2005-10-12

I've always found it fascinating on how they make movies nowadays. I've taken film classes, but it wanted to see the scripts that they use. This is the complete screenplay to the movie " Batman Begins." You not only can read the linings, but you can see how they decided to put together these scenes through the storyboards. This is an excellent item for any movie buff, or any butting filmmaker. It will give you an idea on how to start writing a screenplay, and you can go behind the scenes in see how they put together this blockbuster.

Best Batman Film Yet.......2005-09-12

Being a huge Batman fan, I waited in anticipation for this movie to be released. I wasn't disappointed. After seeing it, David Goyer and Christopher Nolan have really "got" the whole idea of the myth that is the Batman.
They have stayed true to the Batman history, and have delivered what many believe to be the "ultimate comic book movie".
While probably not for the kids, this version of Batman is definately what this Bat-fan has been waiting for - tough, dark and intimidating.
This screenplay seems to reveal the original script that Goyer/Nolan pitched to Warner Bros. I say "seems to" because there are a few notable changes from the film version as released. I can only assume that Warner Bros changed certain areas to ensure that the film recevied a PG13+ rating in the US, while here in Australia it received a M15+.
Without giving too much away, the script as presented in this book has a darker edge to certain scenes, and in my opinion, is exactly how the movie should have been done.
I rate this as 5 stars based on the way Goyer and Nolan have finally portrayed the Batman as he was meant to be.
I only hope that Warner Bros can secure both Nolan and Goyer for the sequel.

Honour The Knight.......2005-09-12

This is actually a "proper" book, not a money grab replete with pictures and a few snatches of dialougue here and there.

It is the *full* screen play and shooting script, with story boards.

The book also contains interviews with Christopher Nolan and David Goyer who give insight into what they wanted to achieve and how they see the character. I found it interesting how they both mention that the first four films was not how they saw Batman. And they wanted to show a Batman more reminiscent to the character who actually shows up in the comic book. They also wanted to keep the film grounded in reality and hearken back to the grand epic films by directors such as David Lean and John Houston. Which they more than achieved. It is clear that both men took the film seriously and wanted to make a film that audiences would enjoy. Much to my pleasure.

This is a great book for those who loved Batman Begins. Or those who are interested in script writing.

Sequart.com has published their first book written by the online journal's creator and editor Julian Darius. Batman Begins and the Comics is as well written, informative, and fun as the website that has come to be known for its thoughtful comics scholarship and news.

With Batman Begins and the Comics Darius has created a well organized comparative study of the films and comics of Batman. From the better, to the just awful attempts at bringing the Dark Knight to the screen, Darius builds to his thesis that Batman Begins is the best of the filmic translations thus far.

The book is full of interesting clusters of obscure information. The chapter "Unproduced Attempts to Film Batman's Origins" was as delightful to read as any gossip column. After this setup, Darius moves into a BLOW by BLOW, PUNCH by PUNCH, WHAM! by WHAM! (Yes, comics puns intended here folks!) analysis of the film. Darius constructs a methodical study and provides a frame to understand not only the film itself, but the entire context of the film in the history of cinema and comics. One device Darius has created to aid in his study is the "Actor Note" blowout boxes. I particularly found these tools quite useful as they allowed for the author to comment on this important aspect of the film without becoming disruptive to the main discourse.

Finally, Darius ends the book with an essay titled, "Erasing Burton: Batman Begins, Realism, and the Anxiety of Influence". The inclusion of this essay was a sharp decision by the editors because it contextualizes the entire film series. I believe Darius achieves his goal of re-establishing the Burton films to the position they once held while simultaneously showing how memory and influence work on art.

This text proves to be a fun and informative read for anyone that is interested in either Batman, comics, or film, and it is the perfect read for those that happen to like all three.

If you are a fan of "Batman Begins" then you DEFINITELY need to check this book out. It's packed with great information about the movie itself and the comics that came before it, and how they all connect. I've been a comics fan all my life, but I never really got into Batman until the movies came out, and this book really helped me understand how the comics really shaped the way Batman is portrayed on the big screen. I loved it! The book is analytical, but at the same time lots of fun. It is never boring, and once you start it, it is really hard to put down.

For any comics fan, this would make a great gift. For any fan of the movie that doesn't really know too much about the comics, this is a TERRIFIC resource. And if you're a fan of good reads and fun books, I highly recommend this book.

A very insightful look at a great film........2005-10-21

What can I say. This book is incredible for a number of reasons.

First / foremost, it was put together so quickly, which would normally indicate a "hack" job. But it isn't hack work at all. For the time it took to make, it is an AMAZING read. It is very detailed and Julian's eye for detail is uncanny.

Second, it's a FUN read. It has so much more than just film annotations. It has a great section in the beginning that talks about a TV show that never got off the ground that details the life of a young Bruce Wayne (in a similar fashion to Smallville). It has box office numbers, comparisons to the comics that "Batman Begins" derives from, and so much more.

I finished it in a day or two. It's a fun insigtful read. Buy it and enjoy!

Pretty decent bat house book........2000-07-22

When I first saw this book, I was pretty excited. It looked like a very inexpensive way to introduce folks to my bat house hobby. I purchased the book, and read it immediately. I was a little bit disappointed. It seems like this book covers all of the main points about building successful bat house, but it was much harder to follow than the "Bat House Builder's Handbook." I also felt that the plans looked much less detailed, and the pictures were lacking in general.

This book did have a ton of information about exluding bats, and I think that it is probably an exellent referance for people who are looking to get bats out of their attic.

While this book is a decent bat house book, I would recomend that folks interested in building bat houses shell out the extra few dollars and get the "Bat House builder's handbook" instead.

I am very impressed at how comprehensive this small booklet is. Using readable English and clear diagrams, Building Bat Houses provides interesting bat information, bat house location and construction details (including tool and materials lists), and explicit plans for bat houses of 3 different sizes.
