A comprehensive masterpiece of full Godzilla's merchanise on toys, posters, models etc. which is definitely a 'must-have guide' for true collectors in search of complete amazing collection. Very well recommended for all ages and good investment with value in money. Do not miss it or you are not complete Gozdilla's fan yet.....
A Must for all Godzilla Fans........2000-02-08
I am most impressed with this book. As a rookie Godzilla collector, it was fascinating to see the huge selection of merchandise that has been available. Living in the UK, it has been near impossible (until the internet came along) to obtain Godzilla merchandise and now I know what a task is ahead of me! Even if I cannot own the items, at least this book will provide me with a good photographic record. I was especially interested in the section devoted to film posters - it is interesting and hilarious seeing the variations between different country's versions. The book is lilterally packed with colour photos - in fact the only thing which lets it down is the lack of background text/information on the merchandise. I was glad to see no mention of the American/Tristar Godzilla (1998) apart from a entry in the film poster listing -the book was probably compiled just a little too early for this but I feel that it would have no place in the Japanese Godzilla World.

Invaluable book for collectors and dealers alike. Clear pics on some of the really rare and expensive items. The only problem is that many of the prices are WAY too low for some of the toys, but when the author is one of the largest buyers and sellers of Godzilla toys, you have to expect that.

A good place to begin with........2004-09-27
This book covers especifically the interphase between laboratory animal science and experimental design. Written by British biostatistians with excellent training in animal experiments, this book for me was an excellent help in writing a manuscript for an ASM (American society for Microbiology) peer-reviewed magazine. It is the perfect companion for a more statistical textbook in DOE. Concepts are so intuitive and clarly explained especially for the non-math trained.

The Old Proverb Still Rings True: Don't Judge a Book by its Cover.......2006-07-29
So often in these days of mass-media blitzkrieg, when movies and books and magazines seem to pour down on us from every retail outlet (including Best Buy and Costco -- who would ever admit to book shopping at Costco?), it is in fact quite easy to judge many books by their covers, just as we often know everything we need to know about a two hour movie from its fifteen second trailer. The cover photo of Lisa Wogan's Backyard Blaze looks like it came from the pages of one of those outdoor furniture store catalogs that fill the mailboxes of every suburban house in America, and it makes this book look like one of those space-filling coffee-table volumes that has nothing substantial to offer, nothing that really needs to be read. And nothing could be further from the truth. Lisa Wogan has taken a hum-drum subject and infused it with fun, enthusiasm, and humor. I started reading the text and soon found myself smiling with delight at her brisk prose and her funny turns of phrase. Shortly afterward I found myself reading passages aloud to my wife, and then calling friends and saying "listen to this . . ." The book is both fun and funny. But it's more than that too. Wogan writes of the deep need within all of us to gather round a fire like our ancient ancestors (who didn't live in caves), a need so old it is beyond words and consciousness and is akin to the need that draws us to lakes and ocean shores. Like the essayists G. K. Chesterton, who has the ability to make us rethink our settled views in the power of his arguments, or Loren Eiseley, who shows us how millennia of human development still echoes in the corridors of our modern thoughts, Wogan's prose reawakens in the reader an awareness of the mythic wonder and poetry that flares to life when we kindle a backyard fire. No kick against John Granen's photos: they are excellent and expertly produced, but they are conventional. Wogan's prose shows yet again that language has a freshness of life and power that the camera can rarely equal. A book to enjoy again and again, and a book to share with friends around the fire.

New editions of household rolls and account books have appeared, together with further studies of kin groups and the demographics of household, and intensified awareness of the household as a site of cultural patronage. Current scholarship on medieval women has also produced numerous studies of the devotional reading of medieval women, of medieval female communities, and the history of medieval professed and laywomen's religious lives. An excellent source-book for anyone studying Middle English. It compiles an extensive selection of excerpts which demonstrate the ways in which medieval English writers struggled with the concept of writing in English, and defended their use of the vernacular. The accompanying essays range from excellent to mediocre, but the texts themselves make the book worth buying. By compiling texts about medieval literary theory, this book begins to fill a major gap in medieval studies.

The Ancrene Wisse, a guide for female recluses written in the West Midlands in the early thirteenth century, and the closely related religious works of the `Katherine Group', offer a vivid insight into the religious life of the time, and their rich and varied prose style blends Latin and native English stylistic traditions with remarkable skill and assurance. The difficulty of their language, however, has made them largely inaccessible except to experts in Middle English, and this edition is designed to introduce them to a wider audience, including undergraduates with limited experience of Middle English and specialists in other disciplines, particularly history, theology, and women's studies. It provides a representative selection (the last two parts of Ancrene Wisse, and three complete works from the Katherine Group, Hali Meithhad, Sawles Warde, and Seinte Margarete) in new and readable critical texts, with a general introduction, notes, a select glossary, and interleaved translations.

Was there a women's movement in the thirteenth century and is such a question meaningful in its medieval context? Far from being resolved, the issue of whether women had a thirteenth-century renaissance has still decisively to unsettle the periodization of Western European history in twelfth and sixteenth-century humanist renaissances. Herbert Grundmann long ago demonstrated the participation of women in the eremitically-inspired reforming movements of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, and in the production of vernacular literature. Yet it is upon his work that this volume builds, for the diocese of Liège is the key area in this development. It was from Liège that Jacques de Vitry approached the papacy to secure permission for the women of this bishopric of Liège, France and Germany to live together and to promote holiness in each other by mutual example. The seventeen contributors to this volume examine not only the beguine religious life in the southern Low Countries, but also the impact of this movement on later medieval Sweden, England and France, the new modes of influence exerted by women in their religious lives, and the revivals of feminine spirituality in the late medieval West through to contemporary North America. Research does not yet allow for a whole new synthesis, but this volume directs scholars to detailed work on specific localities and persons, with an awareness of the problems and possibilities of wider European comparisons. Just two words which can be used to describe the affable Mr Wogan. If the youth of today spent less time listening to rappers like 50 Cent and more time listening to cassettes like this there might be some hope for them.
