If you are a Lucy Fan then you simply must buy this book! I just received mine and sat mesmorized by it, it is now my favorite Lucy item I have. I have an enormous collection of everything to do with Lucy or I LOVE LUCY you can imagine and this Scrapbook is so incredible.....it's honestly as if you are looking at the original scrapbook and you are even able to pull out inserts on several pages.....passport, letters, etc. I am not joking, if you are a collector of Lucy things and you do not have this Scrapbook then you are missing an incredible addition to your collection. The price is really great considering all you get. Words truly are not enough....I'll never ever get tired of looking at this!!!! Don't just think about buying it, buy it this minute!!!

I picked up this book on a whim. In all honesty, I was "blown away" by it. Whoever put this thing together did a wonderful and pain-staking job duplicating items glued and tucked within the pages of the original scrapbooks. Passports, holy cards, letters from presidents and celebrities and much more is reproduced to look like the originals. I found myself getting lost in the lives of these people and the decades in which they lived. Mostly, I closed the book with the realization that even icons like Lucy and Desi are flesh and blood people, drawn to their heritage, celebrating their children and accomplishments, and mourning the loss of dreams and friends along the way. Each yellowed news clipping and lovingly preserved souvenir is a reminder of the ties that bind us all.

This is simply priceless. Worth every penny you spend on it and more! Everything looks so authentic. I especially liked reading the letters and seeing Desi's passport! A must-have for any Lucy and/or Desi fan.

I'm one of millions of fans of Lucille Ball and her handsome husband Desi. The love between Lucy and Desi (despite their difficulties/different backgrounds and expectations) was romantic, palpable, just so real, that it lit up their tv show and the movies they made together.

Here is a scrapbook containing many little personal items and minutia from their days together, so that both Lucy and Desi return to life before our eyes. Browsing through it is a joy.

A wonderful book to read to your children from. My daughters and I each will treasure the bedtime stories that I read to them from this book. Now that they are older they have requested their own copies, hopefully for their own children (I'm keeping my tattered copy for my nights with their children/my grandchildren).

I mean it. They'll chop off your head if you disagree with them. Wait! That's not Christianity. That's some other religion.

Well, they have a plan for taking over the world and focing everyone to become Christians. No, that's not it. That's another religion.

Well, I'm sure they believe that if they die fighting to spread Christianity, they'll get seventy virgins. No. That's that other religion I can't think of the name of.

But I'm sure if you don't convert to Christianity, you'll be forced to pay most of your income as a tax to the Christian church. No. I heard that somewhere else.

I just can't think of the name of that other religion. Teacher said we weren't supposed to mention its name. It was okay to mention Christianity though, as long as we had something bad to say about it.

I guess I'm just confused. But everybody knows that Christians are bad people and that Christianity is just about the worst thing that ever happened.

Truth overdue.......2006-11-08

Immediatley the reader is struck with the straight foward manner the facts are presented. It is one thing to think the things presented in this treatise, it is quite another to back them up with research and hands-on experience. I tire of hyperbole and twisted tales design to postulate a personal agenda. That is why I read Criminalization of Christianity. It did not resort to manipulation of emotions to sell books. It did not lash out at any undeserving faction. It did not resort to bigotry or hatred. Instead the book lays out stunning reality that should make us stand up and shout it out - I have had enough!

Thanks to a courageous Janet Folger we can join together and fight the good fight.

Wow! I had no idea how serious it is that we are losing religious freedoms left and right and are remaining silent. Janet Folger cites case upon case of instances when Christians were discriminated against and even forced to choose between ceasing to exist as a business or supporting the homosexual agenda.

Right now it's abortion and the homosexual agenda that are causing Chrisians to lose their freedoms. But if we don't stand up and fight, it won't be long before sharing the gospel or even owing a Bible might land us in jail.

I highly recommend this book for individuals but especially for churches and group studies. I think it would have been nice if the author had included group discussion questions for each chapter, but you can still use the book in a weekly Bible study, discussing a chapter per week and determining what your church or group is going to do to fight the criminalization of Christianity. A lot of research went into this book, and it reads well--not like a law textbook. Many thanks to the author for writing it!

A Treasure in Words.......2000-10-10

Zell Miller will almost certainly be remembered as one of the greatest governors in the history of Georgia, and perhaps in the history of America. This volume includes dozens of speeches and excerpts that give us a glimpse into the world of this great statesman. Governor Miller's programs, particularly in education, have become the foundation for programs throughout the country, and his remarks have inspired politicians of all backgrounds to strive for excellence. I bought this book from the authors at a recent & fantastic David Grisman/Bela Fleck show. That night I didn't turn off the reading light til very late--one thing leads to another with this guide to the roots of great music. It's amazing how many musicians are influenced by Miles and by Bill Monroe. We are so lucky to live in this time of blending, eclectic music, with so much choice. Clearly a labor of love, this book plays one of my favorite games: who influenced my musical heroes. And the range of musicians they connected with is astounding. It was obvious the musisicans got into the process and put a lot of energy into thinking about what albums were on their turntables, 8 tracks, cassestte and CD players. From two members of the Grateful Dead to John Lee Hooker, the authors really connected with the best to find out who they thought really had the good stuff. This book is a lot of fun; it's one of those books you can just open anywhere, and whooosh, you are on a fun journey. Highly recommended for anyone who cares about music.

Be warned: This book could cost serious music lovers some serious cash. Loaded with reccomendations from musicians from so many genres there is something for everyone. Clever in it's lay out and an overall interesting read, allowing you to "walk inside the ear" of legends like Greg Allman to up-and-comers like Jeff Tweedy (Wilco). Plus, the master list of recordings and an appendix with some great web sights for finding the thousands and thousands of recordings listed in the book make the whole collection a great cross between reference and absorbing non-fiction.

If your CD collection knows no bounds, buy this one now!

Too difficult "easy" level puzzles!.......2006-12-28

I bought this book for my dad since he enjoys sudoku so much and I thought he would like it. However, we (together) were unable to work through several of the easiest puzzles in the book. This would be a great book for someone really up for a kakuro challenge but AWFUL for a beginner. I can work really difficult puzzles from other sources and, no lie, I could not work through several of the easy puzzles. It will turn any beginner off to kakuro. This is certainly no book for dummies. It should be titled: "Kakuro for Geniuses"

Like many other people I came to Kakuro after learning suduko. This dummies book was the first Kakuro book I used. I found this book just fine. I am still a newbie to the puzzle but I don't find these puzzles anymore difficult then ones in other magazines or books. I also have a perodical type Kakuro book from Dell that has similarly difficult easy puzzles. The only reason why I didn't give this book 5 stars is that the Dell puzzle book has included number combinations so you don't have to guess from scratch how many different number combinations for 23 can fit in a seven box space. All in all not a bad book to start with and like any of the dummies books it only provides one way of doing things and there are many different ways out there.

This should be titled, "Kakuro to make you feel like a dummy!" The "easy" ones are harder than the "Beware! Very Challenging" puzzles in the Will Shortz book. The puzzles are so small that I had to rip out the pages and enlarge them on a copier so I had room to work and didn't go blind. Almost any other book has to be better than this one.

amen to previous review--too difficult!.......2006-04-04

I thought the "dummies" title was just marketing, but this book is out to make the customer feel like one. I've been on a kakuro binge lately, and have enjoyed doing the moderately hard level puzzles in other books, but in this one, I couldn't even do the easiest level.

Bad mismatch between introduction and puzzles.......2006-03-18

This is a straightforward book: a short chapter on how to play Kakuro, and 240 puzzles to solve. The introduction gives a nice overview of how Kakuro works, and the basic steps to take in solving a puzzle.

Unfortunately, there is a large disparity between the skills the intro gives you, and the skills needed to complete the puzzles that make up the rest of the book. This gap is about the size of the Grand Canyon - I have attempted dozens of the "easy" puzzles in /Kakuro For Dummies/, and I have only solved 4. Only 2 of those were without looking in the solutions to find out where I had messed up part-way.

I'm fairly certain I am not a moron - I can solve many Kakuro puzzles from other sources. I'm not great at it, but I can do it. As a "For Dummies" book, I find this one very disappointing. All it will do is discourage you from a very enjoyable puzzle game.

I really, really wanted to give this book a favorable review, but I just cannot. Even the easiest puzzles early in the book can be downright perplexing, and some of them are simply unsolvable given the very basic guide at the start. To put it simply, you *cannot* solve the majority of the puzzles in this book using *only* this book.

Note to the "Dummies" publishers for a future revision:

* Include much easier puzzles to start! The majority of the so-called "easy" puzzles are impossible to solve with the meager understanding this book offers.
* Add a section with more advanced techniques for solving larger, harder puzzles.

Bottom line: If you already know how to do Kakuro and want a huge selection of challenging puzzles, buy this book. If you are just starting out, look elsewhere unless you are looking for massive frustration.
