Book Description
In 1982, to coincide with Blade Runner's original release, Cinefex, the respected magazine devoted to movie design and special effects devoted an entire, extended issue to Ridley Scott's sci-fi masterpiece. That issue has been out of print since then, but in constant demand copies now sell on the collector's market for over $100. Titan Books is proud to bring this classic back into print, in a remastered hardcover edition.
Described as 'the single most comprehensive examination of Blade Runner's special effects', this must-have book contains scores of images not available elsewhere, as well as authoritative text, containing in-depth, exclusive interviews with director Ridley Scott and the legendary designer Syd Mead.

The Blade Runner Book.......2006-02-02
...is already out.
The MOVIE was based on the BOOK "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", by Philip K. Dick published in 1968. It is worth a read if you're a fan.
Poor book.......2006-01-04
Don't spend your money, it's a poor book, poor content, poor pics many in black and white, I'm still waiting for THE BOOK about Blade Runner.
A very complete "movie biography".......2005-07-22
It's all a Bladerunner fan is looking for ! Packed with data and clue photos. I love it !
Book Description
It's no secret. Bands are attracting industry attention and gaining thousands of new fans on MySpace.com. As an artist, you need to be there. The only problem is, most musicians misuse the many free features that MySpace offers. Don't waste this online opportunity. Use this new book to squeeze the most out of your MySpace music marketing!

Great For Beginners.......2007-08-07
I bought this book looking for a complete resource to marketing with myspace for bands and music videos. It's really directed towards a more beginner user to myspace. The book has some good notes and guidelines here and there, but nothing extraordinary. There is a lot of redundancy in the survey section too. I'd recommend the book to musicians who are new to myspace and marketing. Overall, not a bad read, just not enough juicy info as hyped.
An o.k. read.......2007-05-04
This was an o.k. read but not really what I was looking for. I did go elsewhere but this definitely wasn't a complete waste of time. I did learn a couple of things from this book.
How to get ripped off.......2007-04-18
'How to get the most from your MySpace promotion' reads the promiss on the backcover of the book. But this promiss is certainley NOT true at all. Bob Baker wrote only 48 pages of the book himself, which text is a summary of the results of a questionaire done by Bob through MySpace. The other 70 pages or so are written by '30 indie music people' (how about giving them a credit on the cover of the book, Bob?). These are the raw, full length responses from the 30 artists, managers and promotors who responded to Baker's MySpace Music Marketing Tips survey. Therefore, the following 4 boring questions are repeated 30 times:
- General thoughts on MySpace as a promotion tool;
- Top MySpace marketing tips;
- Biggest MySpace drawbacks;
- Additional MySpace thoughts.
You do not need to buy the book, because here are the results:
- yes, MySpace can be a promotional tool for a band, besides other promotional tools;
- blog, blog, blog (be active);
- there are over 2 million artists you are competing with;
- MySpace is super time-intesive and the site is very very slow.
That's it. I certainley do not understand the halleluja-words on the backcover of the book.
Know What You're Getting.......2007-04-05
Is this book useful? Somewhat. Is it worth the price? Doubtful. Could it have been a WHOLE lot better? Absolutely.
What a great subject for a book. I was immediately drawn in by the title. Just what I was looking for; an entire book on how to get the most out of your MySpace music page. If only that's what was actually inside. This book does tell you how to get MORE out of your page, but in no way does it tell you how to get the MOST out of your page. Missing is any information about how to customize your page, how the entire MySpace process works, illustrations of good and bad pages, etc. What you do get is some pretty basic music marketing advice - mostly rehashed from the author's other books - but placed within the context of the MySpace domain. What you also get are snippets and quotes from other musicians and artists who have used and been successful in the MySpace music world. But, as you can imagine whenever you interview many, many, many different sources on a very narrow topic, you end up getting the same advice over and over and over again.
In summary, I would say that this book reads more like a web newsletter than a useful, well organized, well thought-out book on how to use MySpace music. Maybe that's all it was meant to be. But to me, it could have, and should have, been so much more. I read it in an hour, got about as much out of it as I would a good web forum, and put it on my shelf where I'm certain it will sit untouched until it is thoroughly obsolete.
I had higher hopes.
MySpace Music Marketing: book review.......2007-03-30
I purchased Bob Baker's book "MySpace Music Marketing" and I have to tell that although it is just the beginning already what I have learned from the book works wonderfully for me. Our daily play of songs jumped from 4-5 a day to over 100 a day. It's really good.
[...]
I strongly recommend the book to anyone who wants to get big exposure on MySpace. What's beautiful about it is that regardless if this is music, art, or business you will gain a lot from the ideas contained in the book.

Indispensable.......2006-06-01
This book gets to the vital core of what it takes to open the doors to success in today's music business. Kimpel keeps it real by drawing from his own extensive experience and that of his many industry friends and contacts. The ideas he presents should be valuable to readers at all levels of accomplishment; it's also an entertaining read, sprinkled thoughout with humor and fascinating anecdotes.
Great book of strategies........2006-05-16
This book contains all the networking strategies you will ever need for your musical enterprise. Even if you're a veteran, I'm sure you'll be able to find lots of great tips that you will use daily. I just wish that the internet would have been covered in more detail. If that's what you're looking for, I suggest "The New Music Industry: How to Use the Power of the Internet to Multiply Your Industry Exposure, Fan Base and Income Potential Online!" by Ty Cohen.
Customer Reviews:
works like magic!.......2006-05-16
The memory improvement techniques in this book work so well that it is almost creepy. You'll be able to memorize names and phone numbers so quick, and you won't forget them! The networking skills are also fairly good, but not as advanced as I would have liked. If you like this book I also recommend "The Music Business Bundle" by Ty Cohen.
This f'ing rocks.......2005-09-23
Man, I really loved reading this. Before, I was running around trying to keep up with business cards and scribbling notes on napkins and on my hand...I'm sure I looked like a total f'ing loser. To top that, I'd lose the cards or the napkin I wrote on and wouldn't be able to call people back and I KNOW I lost some major jigs because of it. Now people are really impressed when they tell me their name and give me their number and I say, "Oh, just tell me the number, I'll remember..." Then I'll call them back the next day...cha-ching! This f'ing rocks dude..

For Beginners..........2007-07-08
This book is mainly for beginners of myspace.
I didn't learn anything from reading this book, everything I already knew.
I definitely recommend it for the people just starting out with myspace.
It tells you everything you need to know and how to make your myspace yours.
It seems that it goes more in-depth about myspace it self rather than telling you what myspace musicians should do.
more than half the book wasnt even directed towards musicians.
If you already know myspace, save your money and just search the web.
Essential to making Myspace work for you!.......2007-06-08
This book is the most comprehensive, most up to date, and well thought out book I have seen on the subject of Myspace and social networking. To my knowledge it has been the only attempt at covering all the "need to know" information for people looking to use Myspace for their business advantage. I have used several of the principles presented in the book, and having it as a resource has proven to be invaluable. Whether you consider yourself an expert, or just a casual user, this book will help you maximize the effectiveness of your social networking experience.
Book Description
The music business - like every other business - is based on personal relationships. Who you know and who knows you is equally (or even more) important as what you know. This book is the blueprint for developing the people skills necessary to achieve success. Helpful for both the pro and the novice, it is a detailed guide to creating a career game plan, filled with advice from artists, writers and execs who have already established themselves as major players. Author Dan Kimpel's invaluable insights are vividly documented here in a high-energy, highly readable fashion.

Informative!.......2002-06-08
I found this book in a little discount book store in GA, never knowning how valuable it would become. Inside, there is a wealth of information. It is though(in my opinion), geared moreso toward songwriters, but if you are a performer you will still find it helpful. I sure did.

great guide.......2006-05-27
This book will teach you how to really get contacts and know people on the "inside" of the industry. It's great! I also suggest reading "Ty Cohen's Secrets to Making Money in the Music Industry (3-Piece Mega Audio CD Set)"
Good insights into the music business.......2005-11-24
Networking in the Music Industry by Jim Clevo and Eric Olsen provides good insight into the workings of the music industry.
It covers the several aspects of the business and the different players that one would need to become acquanted with to be successful in the music world.
It also includes over 50 interviews with numerous industry insiders, giving points of views from concert promoters, music magazine writers, music publishing company personnel, record label A&R people and more.
The only drawback is that the book was published in 1993, so it is now quite a bit dated. (The authors should really think about a new updated edition).
Despite the age of the book, it still provides good insights and techniques for networking. It would be a help to up & coming musicians and anyone looking to become a part of the music scene.

You can judge this book by it's cover. All the updates for the Player's Handbook is gathered in one place.
SWEET.......2007-01-10
This book is so worth the bragging rights that come with it. It also always has this really cool crackle when you turn the pages.
D&D Special Edition Players Handbook.......2006-11-12
The Book Arived through amazon quicker than the estimated time. But that was only the begining, the book is really well held together the black leather cover gives it a timless/omoness sort of appearance, but the feel was well worth what I payed for it on amazon. The book feels as though it belongs in the traveling pouch of a wizard. (Just a word of caution the rest of the book is exactally the same as the D&D 3.5 Players Handbook even the artwork is the same) This is I Feel a great edition to and obsessed D&D fans collection even if they are not that big of a 3.5 fan.
