Good information.......2005-10-17
In the course of making a film, we found this book to be very helpful. It organizes info about the business side of the filmmaking process.
Went in a skeptic, came out a believer.......2003-06-20
Being a skeptic, I tested Mark's capsule exercises on a script I was preparing for the IFP Spotlight Award. The results were unnerving - I discovered buried treasure I didn't know I had within my story and eliminated an entire subplot that didn't service the STORY. Mark demystifies the concept of marketing, asking simple, direct questions. By asking "why would anyone want to see your film?" Mark goes past just marketing and addresses the issues that draw people to filmmaking in the first place. When I put the book down, I had a clear vision of the kind of filmmaker I want to be - and a great set of tools to get there.
Helped sell my film.......2003-06-13
This book is so great! I got a copy after reading a review and it lived up to every claim. The techniques in the book's "Self-Distribution" section showed me how to set up regional sales for a film that otherwise has not made any money up until this point! I can now proudly say that my DVD is available in 17 video stores in Pennslyvania and New York thanks to the tips in this book! Get Bosko's book if you want to sell your film - it is that simple.
Must-Have Movie Marketing Magic.......2003-06-06
A lot of people throw the title "guru" around, but Bosko's the real deal. As a filmmaker, if you've ever wondered how to: get press coverage, create a media kit, find an attractive title; identify your movie's hooks, locate distributors, exploit the power of the web, get audiences and distribution and actually sell your movie or video...then GET THIS BOOK! Bosko "tells all" in an easy-to-read style that gets the creative juices flowing. No filmmaker should go anywhere near a camera without reading the hard-core, straight-up instruction and advice in this book.
An Absolute MUST!.......2003-05-15
Outstanding! Mark's style of writing is so engaging, down-to-earth, and motivating --I couldn't pull myself away! I've been behind the scenes on several film projects and can't believe they had the audacity to shoot without knowing what Mark shares in this book. My highlighter is nearly empty! When it comes to marketing a project, ignorance is certainly not bliss! Mark's book is an absolute MUST HAVE if you plan to DO something with your film other than show your parents!

Analogue tape? Digital tape? MiniDisc? Computer-based systems? Paul White explains the basics of multitrack music recording and offers a wealth of practical advice.
Customer Reviews:
Short & Complete.......2007-01-04
Gave all the basics in an easy to understand format and was thorough enough as to help me start recording straight after reading the book.
Good Introduction to Multi-Track Recording.......2006-10-03
"Basic Multitracking" is a good primer for recording. It is truly what the title indicates "BASIC." This can be a good thing for those of us that are new to recording and don't want to get tangled up in all the jargon and details that don't mean much to us yet. It covers all the terms you need to get started such as bouncing tracks and punching in/out without covering details that would only confuse me at this point.
There is also a good introduction to mixers, that I found very helpful. There were concepts about the typical analog mixer that I did not fully understand. The book was worth the purchase price for the mixer section alone.
If you want details and technobabble, you probably should look elsewhere. This a simple and easy to read exposure to the basics of recording. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that it is a little dated. This is to be expected to some degree. The book also dwelled a bit too much on traditional analogue TAPE recording.
The book is a solid four stars and an interesting and informative read. Frankly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of Paul White's books. They all seem well written and informative.

Whether you are honing your skills as an young actor or public speaker--this book is for you........2006-02-16
Another great book in Stevens' series for teens. My daughter found "Sensational Scenes for Kids" very helpful in her speech class. Her teacher kept a copy in the classroom. Students found the scenes fun to learn, with timely topics, and language they could relate to. "Ultimate Commercials" will be a useful tool for aspiring actors or teens working on public speaking.

This includes basic requirements for training + preparation, presentation materials such as resumes for beginners/pros (with examples) and photos (with examples), instructions for obtaining a work permit and 101 commercials for practice. Great for classroom, variety talent shows, parties, competitions, and ultimately, auditions.

This book includes all the secrets on how to land commercial jobs and has worked wonders for my career. I would highly recommend this book to any aspiring actor who wishes to master the art of performing a commercial.
A lot of good info.......2006-02-18
When my son started acting he was nervous going to an audition.
The good thing about this book is the author shows you what happens at an audition.
He takes you through the process step by step.
The author's style of writing is very funny. My son and I were laughing and then when he got his first audition we found it happening just like in the book.
A Definite Recommend.......2006-02-17
I bought this for my son, as well as the scene book for kids, and he hasn't put them down! They're a really good resource for kids who are interested in acting. I've also noticed that his memorization skills have improved since I got him these books. If you have a child interested in acting, I highly recommend both books.

Boy oh boy.......2001-11-22
In this book ashelys boyfriend Ross is in a play and he has to kiss MK in the play and he hasn't kissed Ashely yet so Ashely wants to kiss him. What will they do? Find out in this great book!
Something Nice!.......2001-09-16
This book is all about a school play. A musical, to be specific. It was really good. Mary-Kate got the lead, and her understudy tried to make her get sick and mess stuff up for her. That's all I can tell you or else I would be spoiling the story for you!
Not Bad!.......2001-07-18
This book was really good. It has a great plot and is interesting. This book is about when Mary-Kate tries out for a part in the play that they're performing at White Oak (Mary-Kate and Ashley's bording school). She tries out for a part that doesn't have many lines, but ends up getting the lead part! Ashley is incredibly happy for her sister even though Ashley tried out too, and didn't get a part. She's happy until she realizes Ross, Ashley's boyfriend is playing Mary-Kate's boyfriend in the play. And at the end Mary-Kate gets to kiss Ross. When Mary-Kate asks Ashley if it's all right that she kisses Ross, Ashley says yes. But when they're practicing Ashley does everything to stop Mary-Kate from kissing him!
Bye, Bye Boyfriend.......2001-04-18
Mary-Kate has a star-role in a play. (Bye, Bye Birdie) Ashley is proud of her sister. But not when she finds out that she has to kiss Ashley's big time crush Ross Lambert. Every time Ross and Mary-Kate have to rehearse the kissing part Ashley tries to stop it! Mary-Kate isn't going to kiss Ross. Not if Ashley can help it!!
Starring...........Mary-Kate!.......2001-04-13
Mary-Kate gets the starring role in her school's production of "Bye, Bye, Birdie", after some stiff competeion of Flakios Cereal star, Valerie Metcalf! Ashley is totally proud of her sister--even though she herself blew her audition and didn't get a part. When Ashley finds out Valerie is Mary-Kate's understudy, she is also totally worried, what if Valerie gets Mary-Kate's part, and flirts with the guy with the other leading role, her boyfriend?? "Stay healthy and safe," Ashley coaches to Mary-Kate constantly. Then Ashley gets more to worry about...Mary-Kate has to kiss Ashley's boyfriend on stage!!! That isn't going to happen though, not if Ashley can help it!

where is sunny jim mckeen?.......2005-07-11
a fascinating and thorough reference book on child actors in hollywood's early days.i was just curious why "sunny jim"mckeen, who did the "newlywed"comedies in the 1920's playing"baby snookums"was not mentioned?he only lived to be 8 years old(dying in 1933 of blood poisoning)and was so famous at the time he even had a candy bar named after him. i hope someone one day does a book about the "newlywed"comedies and a bio of "sunny jim" included with it,and also universal, who owns the rights to the "newlywed" comedies of the 20's puts them one day on dvd, otherwise this is a fantastic book and i recommend it completely!!
Fasinating and eye opening!.......1999-09-16
Good reading, not just for film buffs only! Diana Serra Cary gives a rare, revealing glimpse into the world of children in show business.Although it's subject is early child film stars,it's message is very relevant to today's society as well.Well worth the effort!

But there's only one Corny O's girl, and the twins can't agree on how to play her. Elizabeth wants to follow the director's instructions, but Jessica thinks the part calls for drama and glamour. And Jessica's determined to do it her way, no matter what. Being on national television is Jessica's dream come true. But will sharing the spotlight with her sister turn her into a "cereal" killer?
Customer Reviews:
Jessica and Elizabeth get a job on TV.......2006-02-02
In this book twin sisters Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield land roles on a TV commercial for the cereal Corny O's.
Due to child actor laws only one twin can be in the commercial, but both twins are playing the part. Jessica gets mad because she believes that she should be the "prima dona" of the commerical, and not have to share the spotlight with her sister.
Jessica's selfishness almost ruins the commercial, but in the end a surprise awaits the twins.

Your sides will never be stitched back together.......2001-07-31
This is absolutely hilarious! The twins score a part in a cereal ad on tv,and Jessica being the delightful pain in the neck that she is is a true prima donna, and totally ruins the entire thing!!!And Steven is unmissable as he tries his hardest to become a tv ad star too, only to end up running upstairs screaming because all directors are now terrified of kids whose last names are Wakefield.(EG..Jessica Wakefield...).
Jamie Suzanne--what a FUNNY writer. This is soooooo totally sidesplitting!
A great book, but there are better Sweet Valley books........1998-09-28
This book was above average. I like how Elizabeth and Jessica get mad at each other before they get fired and how their worst fight gets shown as the great commercial.
Excellent Book.......1997-07-13
It's one of the best Sweet Valley Twins book I have read! It's funny and interesting. The best part in the book is the Corny O's jingle. Can't wait for more books like this!

Great Book, Fascinating story.......2002-01-30
The novel, Adorable Sunday, is about the fascinating life of a teenage girl, just like one of you, dealing with the difficulties of the exciting world of the television commercial filming.
Friendship, dedication, trust and bravery are some of the topics or themes that are addressed along the pages of the novel. Some guts were also involved.
Sunday, the main character, is in showbiz. Being a lovely, friendly, and a careful girl, will not help her a lot. What she needs to obtain is confidence in her self and an impacting new look.
Heather is Sundayýs new friend that she met in the auditions. She is a beautiful and attractive teenage girl, maybe one year older than Sunday. As talented as she is, while doing her job, she is also very gifted at being friends with other people she meets.
Both of Sundayýs loving parents work at the television station. They always have wanted that their daughter, Sunday, will someday become a famous and well-known star. Both of them are very loving and caring when it comes to their children, which they love a lot.
All the characters mentioned above, and the others in the novel, are very believable by the way the author does a great job at describing them. Their actions, their thoughts, their words, their feelings and their behavior were very believable. I like the characters a lot.
This novel takes place in a city full of fame creating business. Many young people try to become famous at something, but only some of them make it, only the gifted ones.
Trying to get better at something, Sunday always wanted to be famous. Sundayýs parents, help her to be what she wants, a well-known and famous television star. She always tries to be good enough for the directorýs eyes. Sunday goes through many hardships when taking this new job. This job implies to go out of her town and going to the filming studios in another city. She has problems at school with her teachers, grades and friends. She has the great opportunity to continue with her job or quitting if her problems get too big.
This novel was very nice. I would recommend it to the all girls that are looking forward to becoming famous at something.
Fantastic! One of my favorites! A real page-turner!.......1999-06-21
ADORABLE SUNDAY is good to the last drop. It will leave you craving more! It allows you to step into the shoes of another person...who seems as real as yourself. Look at life through the eyes of a rising star....the excitment...the thrills...the regrets...the dissapointments...and the hardships. This book has a subtle meaning to do what makes you happy, and don't worry about what other people think...enjoy your life. And enjoy this book! I certainly did!

Franklin has been chosen to play the Nutcracker Prince in his class's production. But will he be too nervous to say his lines when the big night arrives?
Customer Reviews:
Franklin is cute and entertaining.......1999-12-01
Franklin's School Play is a cute and entertaining book. I enjoyed it very much. It is about a young turtle named Franklin who has a main role in his school's Christmas play, The Nutcracker. The day before the the opening night, Franklin gets so nervous that he can't speak. But, fortunately, he later gains his confidence and does great in the main performance. I think the book teaches kids that it's ok to be afraid sometimes, and that one can succeed if he or she works hard. It is also a great story to put a person in the Christmas mood.
