A bit outdated but very informative.......2000-06-30
This booklet includes copies of Dr. Mendelsohn's newsletter, "The People's Doctor," which answer common questions about the need for, and safety of, immunizations. The book was written in 1988, and he does spend much time discussing the DTP vaccine, which has been since been updated to the less harmful DTaP, but most of the information he gives is still applicable today. He cites research done in other countries and clarifies medical terminology for those of us who didn't attend medical school. If you're contemplating immunizing your child I would recommend that you read this book - it may change the way you view Western (American) medicine, and not for the better.

Wanting more.......2007-10-08
I was a bit disappointed with this book. I have seen a lot of Tkid pieces and thought this book was going to be a great compilation, but it was only pretty good. A lot of the text is also very self promoting, so it was not really pleasant to "read" any of the text. But the pics are quality.
What's Up with this?.......2006-05-04
So, has this book been released or not? The original release date was like 6 weeks ago, but Amazon still isn't shipping. Anyone know?
WORTH EVERY PENNY AND MORE........2006-03-06
First off let me say that I wish you good luck if your ordering this book through Amazon. But, if they are somehow REALLY able to get it, you'll be amazed at its content. T-KID is a legendary style master, and if you didn't know that, you're a toy.
The stories are so vivid that you can smell the paint, and sometimes, the gun powder. And of course the art is fantastic. Tons of old school flicks to new school digitals. This blows many of the recent graff books off the "MTA map". If you own the COPE2 book than you've got an idea of how fresh this joint is.

Customer Reviews:
Solid work.......2006-05-16
I'd probably give this book 3.5 stars, the plagiarism comment and all. Part of the reason this book is worth reading is simply because there are not many books on the Atlanta Campaign, despite how important it was. While Albert Castel's Decision in the West probably ranks as the best, this book is a good companion. This work gives the reader a good view from mostly the generals headquarters, but also from in the field as well. The authors are not afraid to criticize or second guess generals, but they are also not afraid to heap praise either.
The book does have some negatives, though. The text does not read especially well nor is it all that interesting. I would describe it as very workmanlike. The book features no endnotes or footnotes so what the authors cited can be a mystery. Finally, the book is mostly a military history of the campaign and doesn't delve too deep into the social aspects or what it was like for the common soldier in great detail.
Overall, while this is not the greatest book on the campaign, it is worth reading just because there are not many books written on the campaign. Also, the epilogue about Margaret Mitchell and her writing of Gone With the Wind as compared to David O. Selznick's screen version is very interesting.
Be Aware.......2006-03-10
While this book may appear to be well-written at first glance, one would do well to read the May 1989 (vol.55, #2) review of it in The Journal of Southern History. The reviewer points out evidence of plagiarism, and the journal notes that the publisher withdrew the book from publication. Though it doesn't say the book was pulled for plagiarism, it is reasonable to assume so. The lesson here is to always check scholarly journals for reviews of scholarly books before trusting their content. Trust the pros.
War So Terrible.......2003-03-12
This is an excellent book reviewing the battles that took place from Chattanooga to Atlanta in the summer of 1864 in the Western armies. The authors, working independently, have chronicled much of the strategy and and battlefield drama that characterized such engagements as Dallas, New Hope Church, Pickett's Mill, Kennesaw Mountain, Ezra Church, Resaca etc.
As a layman, I was not bogged down with too much military lingo, and was able to get a good grasp of the strategy used on both sides. Maps and pictures add to the clarity. The authors seemed to start out being favorably disposed to Joseph E. Johnston's command, then, as they analyze all the historical and geographical factors from hindsight, they bring the reader to wonder at his failure to maneuver into a decisive victory over Sherman's advancing army. With the ensuing command of Gen. Hood one senses the nearly frantic contrast to throw men into battle as Atlanta becomes ever-more threatened, at great sacrifice of Confederate lives.
If you had ancestors that fought in the Atlanta Campaign, this is a very good book, with details drawn from numerous sources. The writers have added soldiers' and officers' comments from diaries and letters that detail the morale, the terrain, the weather, and attitude towards the events of the day. These add more interest to the sometimes dry, official commentaries so often quoted in other works.
Good history for layman or scholar; Union or Confederate.

Book Description
I am a dinosaur, otherwise known as a terrible lizard.I do not know why I am so terrible. From a Caldecott Medal honoree comes the story of an endearing Tyrannosaurus rex who wonders why he can't be a vegetarian Tyrannosaurus rex is a terrible dinosaur; of this, everyone is certain. But is this dinosaur really so terrible? He IS very big and very hungry. True, he might even eat his neighbors for lunch. But from his point of view, he can't help it. After all, he's not a vegetarian . . . T Is for Terrible is the story of an introspective dinosaur. With droll humor in both the text and illustrations, Peter McCarty shows us why dinosaurs are the obsession of children everywhere. His not so terrible. T. rex is one of the most irresistible children's book dinosaurs to appear since the Mesozoic era.

family favorite.......2007-09-10
My nephews loves this book. If he picks a bed time book it's usually this one. I also love this book. As other reviewers mention, it's a cute, adorable story about a T-Rex who wishes he was a vegetarian. Very nice, funny way for children to see conflicting action/feelings. Even good T-Rex can't help be bad sometimes and just has to be himself. Great for kids who are into dinosaurs. First time i've seen T-Rex with some personality instead of being just a big monster. Also found the DVD at the library which is also very good. Grandma laughs every time she watches with the kids.
I found this book disappointing.......2006-07-28
I loved the author's previous work (Hondo and Fabian are delightful characters in a sweet book) and I expected this book to be similar. What I found, however, was a book that was too simplistic AND it dealt with the nature of the T-Rex in a way I found disturbing. This book is meant for the younger set, and yet it almost forces you to deal with death in rather a callous way. The T-Rex wishes he could be a vegetarian, but then in the next page it shows him saying he's not and a bunch of other dinosaurs running away from him. My son, age 3, pipes up with "What DOES he eat?" and I answered "Meat", without realizing what was coming on the next page. Now we have to deal with the fact that he didn't quite understand that animals eat _other animals_ and he's too young to really get that in a meaningful way. I don't think that was necessary. I also found the ending of the book disappointing. Thank goodness we only checked it out of the library and didn't buy it! This is not going to be one we purchase and I cannot recommend it.
T is for Terrific, like all of this author's books.......2004-12-23
My 18-month old LOVES all of Peter McCarty's books. Even the ones that are for slightly older readers completely capture his attention. He loves everything about them--the pictures and the stories. When he was younger, they were the only books he would want to look at from cover to cover. And it's strange, because the drawings are quite artistic and are in muted colors, not the bold primary colors usually used in children's books. And a big plus -- the stories are so charming that even adults won't get sick of them (at least I haven't yet, after about 1,000 readings!).
great dino book.......2004-11-24
I bought this book for my son for Christmas, I can't wait to give it to him. He is five and a budding paleontologist. He loves anything to do with dinosaurs. I know he is going to love this book. The pictures are beautiful, and the story is really cute. A great story about being yourself.
Best book in the history of the English language.......2004-10-31
This is the best book ever, the apex of English literature. I bought this book to read to my niece and nephews, but after reading it once I decided to keep it for myself. This book cracks me up. I live with a bunch of grad students, like myself, and we all agree that this is the best book ever. As we watched the Red Sox beat the Yankees and the Cards, we recited passages from this book each time David Ortiz stepped up to the plate. He cannot help that he is so enormous, and so enormously hungry. I guess what I am saying is, buy this book. Buy one for each small child that you love. Because denying them this book is like denying them shoes, or milk. It's a crime.

Sherman...a different man.......2003-02-15
I enjoyed this work. Even though it was not an exhaustive report on General Sherman, (as it probably never was intended to be), it was interesting and thought provoking. I especially liked the somewhat fresh ideas on Sherman's treatment of the Carolinas after his well known march to the sea. Not all authors have the poetry and flow of a Carl Sandburg but Mark Coburn has a style that makes this work an enjoyable read as opposed to some that can lose you in details that are not important to the issue. If you can obtain a copy, I would recommend you do so.

Creationist Children's Dinosaur book.......2003-05-17
This unique book tries to explain dinosaurs to children from the Creationist point of view. Now set aside your beliefs for a moment, whether pro- or anti-Creationism, and let us consider the book as a book.
This work includes many nice drawings of the classic dinosaurs, such as Tyro Rex and Triceratops. It finishes up with an imaginative discursion on the Bombadier Beetle and how it can explain the literal existence of fire-breathing dragons.
Wow! Fire-breathing dragons in a science book! Whether you consider this book to be Literal Truth or Science Fiction, it's a fun read with nicely drawn pictures.

Unsurpassable.......2007-01-21
Joshi & Schultz, editors op.cit.are senior editor for the Esoteric Order of Dagon, an amateur press association journal concerned with the Lovecraftian oeuvre. Joshi won the World Fantasy Award last year.Even 16 years after publication it employs tha latest critical techniques for recognizing H.P. Lovecraft as having influenced supernatural horror writing more than any other writer since his death. No other anthology compares with the thematic scope of Epicure or offers as detailed biographical analysis of his eminence as a pulp writer of te '20s & '30s who has finally been elevated to the American literary canon.

Book Description
Between the end of World War I and the Great Depression, over 58,000 Mexicans journeyed to the Midwest in search of employment. Many found work in agriculture, but thousands more joined the growing ranks of the industrial proletariat. Throughout the northern Midwest, and especially in Detroit, Mexican workers entered steel mills, packing houses, and auto plants, becoming part of the modern American working class.
Zaragosa Vargas's work focuses on this little-known feature in the history of Chicanos and American labor. In relating the experiences of Mexicans in workplace and neighborhood, and in showing the roles of Mexican women, the Catholic Church, and labor unions, Vargas enriches our knowledge of immigrant urban life. His is an important work that will be welcomed by historians of Chicano Studies and American labor.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent research and history.......2007-07-26
Zaragosa Vargas has done an outstanding job in researching and explaining the historical bond Mexican workers have with the United States. His chapters on migration and the causes of northern migration from Mexico, as well as the hardhitting chapter about the plight of Mexican autoworkers in Detroit, in 1927 and subsequent years is non-biased and telling of this author's passion to fully explain, without political or racial bias. I highly recommend this book. I have studied race and population migrations to the United States, and those dynamics which influence and indeed sought and continue to exploit these populations. I was impressed with Vargas' handling of Diego Rivera and Fried Kahlo. The author does not bend to one side or the other of the political debate surrounding communism' repatration or the expectations of the Mexican worker. A fine text and a job well done. 5 stars and a hardy recommedation for PROLETARIANS OF THE NORTH: ZARAGOSA VARGAS.
