Of the latter, superconductors and magnetics have received greater coverage to account for the considerable development in these fields in recent years. New sections on liquid crystals, superalloys, and organic semiconductors have also been added to provide a comprehensive overview of the field of materials science.

Design and Technology is really a splendid book!
The author has done a masterful job at clearly explaining and illustrating the design process and a core set of enabling technologies that underlie product design and manufacturing.
The book is really aimed at junior high school and high school students, but I've even used pieces of it with undergraduate mechanical engineers!
The book includes practical project ideas and examples of how these fundamental technological concepts are applied in real life.
I highly recommend this book to teachers at all levels, to parents who would like to encourage budding young engineers or scientists, or to anyone interested in finding out how things work.

This book was excellent! It gave me many monologues to perform for contest and I got great marks for using Fontaine's book. I reccomend this book to anyone that is involved in Speech,Theater, or any other organization that might involve performances! I am still wondering the biography of this author though.If anyone knows log on to Ask Jeeves Answer Point and please share the information!

I bought this book thinking that I could use these pieces in auditions, but because most of them are for males, they don't work for me. A couple are decently funny, but I found it strange that in a few of them, they listed things. For instance, dates... It's very hard to pull an audition piece of any comedic measure from a list of things you are supposed to say. So, I definetely would not reccomend this book.

Though the book does have many interesting monologs for students, they are mainly for males. If you are female, I would suggest you look elsewhere for good material. Almost 3/4 of this book was for male actors.

There are 50 great reasons to buy this book. Buy if you want to know them. This focuses on young students like me. I highly suggest it.
